A surprise omission from Germany's World Cup team, Max Kruse reached the final table at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas on Wednesday, finishing third in his event and winning 26,900 euros ($36,000).
Kruse, 26, had hoped to be representing his nation at the World Cup this summer, but was left off Joachim Low's provisional 30-man squad. Adding insult to injury, he was listed in the WSOP as "a former soccer pro."

SUPER SUAREZ
His teeth were offsides.
39' SUAREZ SCORES: URUGUAY 1 - ENGLAND 0Pretty touch on that header.
What's the number one rule defending a Uruguay break away? Find Suarez.more shambolic English defending
Caliente take, man.I'm watching on univision and I'm just gonna say it. The gooooooooooooooolllllllll schtick was old and played out by like the 3rd time.
It would be one thing if it was the dude's reaction to the goal every once in a while, but he does it every time and it pretty much always comes well AFTER he's gotten excited about the goal and said several other things (like the name of the guy who scored). Then like 15 seconds later it's like "oh yea, and I guess I have to add this on to the end.....gooooooooooooooooolllllll".
Johnson was more at fault. He had support in the middle, but just gave Cavani all the time in the world to pick out Suarez. No excuse for that. What's the number one rule defending a Uruguay break away? Find Suarez.more shambolic English defending
Good for him, although I'd hardly call him a "surprise omission". Germany has some pretty good players.A surprise omission from Germany's World Cup team, Max Kruse reached the final table at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas on Wednesday, finishing third in his event and winning 26,900 euros ($36,000).

Yeah. I agree with him, but the way he's beating it into the ground is very homerish.Ian really pushing the second yellow angle. Meh.

Homers along with #### calls from the refAs someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. And no one else is even close.
Question: Had Sturridge rolled around the floor for two minutes and embellished the elbow, would the ref have given the second yellow to Godin?Homers along with #### calls from the refAs someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. Sadly - I think yes. Would have had to go full-blown "can't breath", but a little embellishment could have made that look more dangerous than it was.Question: Had Sturridge rolled around the floor for two minutes and embellished the elbow, would the ref have given the second yellow to Godin?Homers along with #### calls from the refAs someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. Questionable calls. But every sport has questionable calls in every game. I've never heard anyone (other than Cris Collinsworth) go on about how bad a couple calls were in the NFL.Homers along with #### calls from the refAs someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. It was a big mistake by the ref, deserves mentioning. He gave the guy a forearm to the throat as he was attacking in a very threatening position.Yeah. I agree with him, but the way he's beating it into the ground is very homerish.Ian really pushing the second yellow angle. Meh.
Pretty sure if he was neutral he'd have said something like "Godin should be more careful since he's already been booked" and never brought it up again.
It happens a lot, especially when it is a play that would have the level of impact that this missed call could have had.Questionable calls. But every sport has questionable calls in every game. Macca (the color guy) is no different than Twellman (color for US games) Both are former players and it is extremely difficult for them to not sound like homers. As someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. At least we won't have to worry about Darke rooting for England during the knockout roundsMacca (the color guy) is no different than Twellman (color for US games) Both are former players and it is extremely difficult for them to not sound like homers. As someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. Darke on the other hand should be professional enough to separate himself from his home country but that too is difficult.
For some reason I think it's ok in WC play. It's not like they're unfair to Uruguay. If anything, the UK announcers are pretty critical of England.Macca (the color guy) is no different than Twellman (color for US games) Both are former players and it is extremely difficult for them to not sound like homers. As someone who doesn't know any of these announcers, who they are or who they root for, I have to say that these two guys seem like the biggest homers I've heard so far. Scalia scoffs at this post. He's a broadcaster, not a Supreme Court justice. A little homerism spices the broadcast up.
