Love how sanctimonious U.S. fans are about riots in Brazil when there's no indication of that happening. I have a feeling we're among the world leaders in post-sporting event riots
There won't be any riots today. But when the bus fare increases next time...
I read recently that transportation costs can constitute up to 1/6th of a Brazilian's monthly expenses. Crazy.

Apparently there's some political group in Brazil whose sole mission is to forcibly take over transportation hubs and provide free public transportation to people.

rather listen to Tommy Smyth though. Heard him calling games on ESPN radio. Did he not do any tv coverage this WC?

I fully expected Brazil to lose today by three goals...but they just completely fell apart on defense. Unreal.
:lmao:

Germany was the pretty clear favorite over a full strength Brazil based on their play. Without Neymar and Silva?
I count only 9 game decided by 3 or more goals in this entire world cup -- and you were fully convinced one of the best squads on the planet would lose by 3? Hopefully you laid every penny you had on Germany if you were convinced.
The squad Brazil played with today is not one of the best on the planet, not even close. They have struggled mightily in this tournament and were without their best defender and striker. I was very pessimistic about Brazil's chances today.

You can believe that or not, I don't really care.
Sorry, I'm probably nitpicking here but you've now changed your tune to "I was pessimistic". I have no doubts that you were pessimistic. I thought Brazil would lose too. But there's multiple football fields between "I don't like their chances" and "I fully expect them to lose by three". The latter is just ridiculous. If you really thought that then, again, I really hope you put down a ton of money on Germany or you missed possibly the greatest investment opportunity of your life.

Things on Bild's frontpage right now:

-A gigantic "7:1", obviously

-German chanting that automatically plays

-Some crazy #### on fire

-Pictures of boobs

-Blurred picture of some girl giving a dude a mouth-hug

-Some dude throwing/pulling a kid over a fence

-A picture of a donkey in front of a police station

-Larry Page

-More boobs

I don't really bet on sports outside of FF.

I understand that. I don't normally invest in the stock market. But if I "fully expected" something to happen and was getting close to even money to bet on it where it could nearly double if I was right, I'd have invested every penny I own into that stock.

Maybe Brazil could sub on some more defensive mids?
It's always nice to see a negative team punished. Especially when it's Brazil playing at home in the freakin' World Cup.
But doesn't this also justify some defensive minded schemes. Because now teams won't want to be embarrassed off the field.
I think there is going to be a lot of revisionist history for this game (hippling now). Brazil owned the game until that corner goal. They were pressing up and fore checking like a mother ####er when they lost the ball. They looked possessed until that goal. They truly broke after the 2nd. Wheels were loose and the 3rd knocked them completely off.

I didn't get that impression at all. I thought Germany was controlling the pace and had better flow even before the first score.

I thought the first ten minutes were excellent. Both teams were more open than I thought they'd be. But the breakdown on the corner seemed to unsettle Brazil a bit and Germany to their credit, went directly for the throat.

That's correct. If you looked at the first 9 minutes and told someone "This game will end in a 7-1 win" you would have thought they were talking about Brazil.

They went Khal Drogo and removed Brazil's tongue through their throat with bare German hands.

I would never invested every penny I had in anything, much less against my favorite team in a game.

Man Darke and McManaman threw shade on Brazil for two hours straight. They are amazing the worst.

Nope. I am not remotely interested in hearing English bias every time I watch a game. Neither of these guys are capable of calling a game neutrally.
So you're why we're getting Gus Johnson.
Not really, my vote would go to Ray Hudson or Phil Schoen. That said, Gus is better than Ian in my book. Not by a lot.

I love Ray too, but come on.

Just because Ian doesn't suck Messi's cork like Ray doesn't make him worse than Gus.

"Hulk and Fred" sounds like a really bad summer replacement series on ABC circa 1979.

Probably something about two mismatched cops.
I think they were searching masons once.

All I am thinking about is, if Argentina can win tomorrow, a final for the ages.
I said it earlier, this is setting up nice for the coronation for Messi to grab hold of the "best ever" title.

Still an enormous amount of work to do so if he wants that title he has to really earn it.

so, was it a 'fix'?
Soccer has a ton of corruption. The likelyhood that the home country's game was fixed to lose is 0.

The likelyhood that it was fixed in this way to ruin these guys lives forever is -100000%
Yup, not sure many multimillionaires are going to risk their income for that.

If you want fixed games, follow the African teams where 1 or 2 players might be well paid and the rest are farmers during the week

I'm very curious to see how LVG sets the Orange up to try and contain Messi. Holland has been one of the more interesting teams tactically in this tournament and Argentina hasn't had a lot of options other than playing the ball through #10 (and de Maria was a part of many of those).

Enjoyed the Brazilian crying from the children, women and grown men - they should have shown more of it.

SCHWEINSTEIGER !!!!!

Want Argentina in the finals

de Jong might be more important than RvP. The Dutch seem even more content this cycle to play counter which is why they struggled against Costa Rica. Game has the potential to be up and down. I'm sure it'll bog down b/c of that but as good as Argentina's defense has been, they've been open to the counter.

These dudes butcher names just as bad as Gus. My disdain for Ian and others has nothing to do with their attitude towards Messi.

Alejandro Moreno has really grown on me as a color guy, he's been very enjoyable. The duo for tomorrow's match (Champion/Robson) have been my favorite team so far this tournament.

I don't like boring, biased English announcers. Not exactly the first time I've stated this opinion. It's not about Messi, but believe what you want.
