Sort of hard to describe, but Song was trailing Mandz and while both were running raised his fist to his ear and brought his elbow straight down on Mandz's back.

so that goal sets up Mexico to need the outright win - correct?

ETA- Sorry Mexico would have 2 ties in the case and would have 5 points to 4

Margin does matter here for Croatia. If they can win by 4 they will lock up any tiebreaker with Brazil (which would come up if they tie Mexico and Brazil were to lose to Cameroon). As it stands, 3-0 means that at worst they would end up with the same goal difference as Brazil if they end up tied on 4 points - if Cameroon were to somehow beat Brazil by 2, Croatia would win the tiebreaker. They also would win the tiebreaker if they have more goals scored than Brazil.

Obviously depending on a Cameroon win in a game that means nothing to them at Brazil is a very thin reed for Croatia to depend upon. But since it's possible they may as well and try and get the edge. They will surely try and make the final margin 4.

A great goalie in soccer and hockey can take you very very far.

It will be interesting to see if Mexico's G keeps it up.

Teams that lost their first game went 0-3 today. Cameroon totally rolled over and Spain didn't seem to even really exert themselves.

Getting excited for Sunday. Portugal is going to fold up tent after we score the first goal. :coffee:

What did the controversial pictures of the Croatian team show? Apparently, they were printed in Croatia on Sunday.

Just got back from Fred Meyer to get some sour cream.

Cashier kid: Have you been watching Soccer today?

Me: Yeah.

Cashier kid: Did Kymeria win?

Me: What?

Cashier kid: Did Kymeria win?

Me (stumped): Do you mean Croatia?

Cashier kid: What?

Me: Spain lost.

Cashier kid: Wow.

Here's your Group A and B scenarios.

Group B:

Netherlands are 1st with a win or tie, 2nd with a loss.

Chile are 1st with a win, 2nd with a tie or loss.

Spain will come in last if they lose or tie against the Socceroos.

Group A:

Cameroon - are out of it and will be looking for players, on their own and other team, officials, and ball boys to punch and or head-butt all game.

Croatia - make it through with:

1) a win vs Mexico,

or 2) a tie and a Brazil loss (they will win the tie-breaker on superior goal differential)

Mexico - make it through with:

1) a win or tie vs Croatia.

or 2) a loss and a Brazil loss where Brazil's margin of defeat is 2 or more goals greater than Mexico's margin of defeat

or 3) a loss and a Brazil loss where Brazil's margin of defeat is 1 goal greater than Mexico's margin of defeat and Mexico outscores Brazil by at least 3 goals.

Brazil - make it through with:

1) a win or tie vs Cameroon

or 2) a loss and Croatia loss or tie

or 3) a loss and Mexico loss and Brazil's margin of defeat is the same or less than Mexico's margin of defeat

or 4) a loss and Mexico loss and Brazil's margin of defeat is 1 goal greater than Mexico's margin of defeat and Mexico fails to outscore Brazil by at least 3.

1st Place:

Croatia get top with a win and a Brazil tie or loss

Mexico get top with:

1) a win and a Brazil loss or tie

or 2) a tie and a Brazil loss

or 3) a win and a Brazil win and Mexico's margin of victory is 2 or more goals greater than Brazil's margin of victory

or 4) a win and a Brazil win and Mexico's margin of victory is 1 more than Brazil's margin of victory and Mexico outscores Brazil by at least 3.

Brazil get top with:

1) a win and a Mexico loss or tie

or 2) a tie and a Mexico tie

or 3) a win and a Mexico win and Brazil's margin of victory is the same or greater than Mexico's margin of victory

or 4) a win and a Mexico win and Brazil's margin of victory is 1 less than Mexico's margin of victory and Mexico fails to outscore Brazil by at least 3.

So there you go :)
