*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (2 Viewers)

I think he has his guy too. Otherwise why fire him now? He's always played it cool before
Who could it be? Can anyone give a list of possible potential coaches out there? He wouldn't dare take another college coach right now I'd think. Cower????
Gruden and Cowher will never coach again IMO

McDanials...Hell, maybe even McDermott?

If nothing else it will be pretty damn interesting to see who ends up being our GM, HC and QB.

Get Murray a FB too please lol
Ya Gruden is done.

Always thought McDaniels would stay in NE until BB retired and take over there.

The good thing is, Bradford isn't really a "typical Chip QB". Not saying he didn't work in Chip's system, but he could probably work in another system too. Wonder if he wants to stay now though, Chip was his biggest fan. He may take off if he sees the ####storm coming.
i know there were rumours a few times about Bradford wanting to retire. I wonder if there is any truth to it
No way.

Who is going to be coaching next week? Please don't let this be a rallying point for our team. We need to lose. Even moreso now.
Pat Shurmer. I honestly have no idea what the team would be thinking going into this game, but my thought if Lurie had a big speech before the Pats game would be Lurie talking to the team again and basically saying "here is your audition for next year. There aren't guaranteed contracts in the NFL, so if you want to play here again let's see what you got"

but yeah, just really strange that Lurie cut bait so quick with Chip and i think there has to be something else to it

I'm much more excited with Bradford as our QB in a normal offense than I was going forward with him and Chip.
He did work in Chip's offense though once he got settled into it. We have no one else. Unless we start someone like Connor Cook who we can get with pick #10.
No he didn't. This offense was more effective running the option play, there are stats to back that up. Sam could not run the option play.

I'm much more excited with Bradford as our QB in a normal offense than I was going forward with him and Chip.
This. Draft/sign some O-Linemen and put Sam under center. Try to establish a ball control power run offense featuring Murray and Mathews with Sproles as a COP back. This sets up the play action to young talent at WR/TE's Matthews/Agholor/Ertz and gives the defense lots less time on the field.

A new coach could do fairly well, fairly quickly IMO.

I personally don't really worry about Chip having set back the team. I don't think that the personnel is that bad, outside of the offensive line.

The problem is Chip's inability/unwillingness to adapt and Billy Davis's idiotic schemes.

To the Phillyfan base who I always try to respect but don't always find a 2 way street. Don't flip on folks who want to come in and rub it in your face that Kelly did not work out. Most of y'all were doing cart wheels 3 years ago...2 years ago...and pretty defensive at times last year. Please don't act like you all don't deserve at least a little ribbing here.

That said, I pray he doesn't come here to Miami. After watching the mess he made and the subsequent disaster and turning the fan base in every direction, totally not what the Miami Dolphins need right now. We need stability and Chip ain't it.

It had to really hurt to see the success that is happening in KC and then look back at the dominance you all showed in the NFC as powerhouse for a good 5-7 year run(ancient history I know) and to see where things have gone. Andy Reid took a lot of heat, seems like he is getting the last laugh at this point.

I'm happy you all are happy he is gone...although are there Philly fans that feel this wasn't the right move?

I think you all should hire Stephen A. Smith as your next General Manager and if you don't then maybe you need him to be part of the hiring process because apparently everything that cat reported and sang was true. I thought he was ruining his career at times chiming in on Kelly and the Eagles but I guess not.

I'm not upset about Chip being fired, but I'm surprised. I though they'd bring in a GM, but let Chip remain coach.

As for a replacement, Adam Gase is a great young offensive mind. He's a possibility.

Per Sal Paolantonio Lurie wanted to strip Chip Kelly of personnel control. Chip balked. Lurie fired him.
That's interesting. So Chip the coach was only fired because of Chip the GM. Meaning Lurie was willing to roll with a lot of this team plus Chip next season. What was a new GM going to do?

What Brees said was he couldn't imagine either him or Payton not returning. Brees has a 30 mil cap figure so his imagination needs some work

i think you bring someone on the team who is known for grooming QBs or recognizing good talent. Hell bring on Jaws. and i think you look at the draft and have to take best player available. i don't see the Eagles falling below .500 multiple seasons, so if you see a QB up there in the top of the draft, i think you try to grab him, knowing franchise QBs don't come around often.

Really comes down to even if you like Braford, how much will he cost and how long is he the viable option?

Hey BB, see what I mean? I ain't mad but I don't live in Philly, more part of the national audience for the Eagles and to a lot of us yucks it looked like Reid got a raw deal down the stretch and then they run to sign the next Steve Spurrier and they get this mess. Don't get mad but you could see this coming a long way off.

You can hate on me, I'll still talk at you. I actually like your posts.

Bring a different voice to the organization and/or try to bring some checks and balances to Chip. Also possibly be able to spend more time on the personnel and administration and (theoretically) let Chip spend more time actually coaching.

Ian Rapoport: Among the things DeMarco Murray told owner Jeffrey Lurie weeks ago was that he had no confidence in Chip Kelly as head coach, I'm told.

He's speaking of 4-12 Andy Reid. This is a 6 win Eagle team and everyone wants to call Chip Kelly the worst coach in NFL history. lol Yes, Andy Reid was a very good coach during the McNabb era. He went downhill quickly after that. I like the guy. I'm glad he's doing well in Kansas City. But it was falling apart fast at the end of his tenure here.

JimmyJabroni said:
I'm not sure Chip set us back too much going forward. He pretty much just pulled this team apart over the last few years and now we can sort of start at the bottom and start building now, hopefully with the right coach who knows what he's doing.
Exactly. He inherited a 4 win team and left the next guy with a 6 win team. Not the end of the world.

Totally LBL, I will say I am surprised he was fired, I would have bet 25% chance but then when you hear he balked at player control it makes sense. I don't know Lurie but I know enough that you don't cross that guy. I applaud him for firing him. It makes sense the story didn't break till late Tue becuase Lurie wasn't planning on firing him Monday morning, just wanted to inform him of changes.

Fascinating

I think Kelly will go to a team like a CLEVELAND where he might be able to seize power quickly. He might not start off as GM but if he can get one of these teams to win a few games or make the playoffs he can probably have anything he wants.

Nah, Reid needed to go. I think 99% of Eagle fans wish him well, I for one am rooting for him in KC, no ill will at all. Things just ran their course here, it was time for a fresh start.

Chip ... I dunno. I thought another year to see if he could fix things was in order, but the reports of players issues with him is getting to be quite the constant. I don't think we're set back years, either, especially if we keep Bradford.

I'm more worried about our QB to be honest. I don't think he left our team awful, but these guys have played and learned this new system. Starting a new system again, that isn't innovative and is vanilla, may take some time.

Bradford if finally comfortable. If he leaves, we are ####ed. I really really hope we franchise him now. I don't see any other way that he really wants to stay. Sucks to spend that much, but if we go into next year with Sanchez or Connor Cook as our starting QB, we have zero shot at anything over 5 wins.

I agree it was time for Reid to make a change but I'm saying look what happened 3 years later. KC is a solid team where even with a subpar QB they are winning a lot of games.

Because we were 'doing cartwheels' that our new coach took us from 4 wins to 10 wins and brought an exciting new offense to town, we deserve ribbing that things didn't work out? God forbid a fan base gets excited for it's team. Better keep an eye on those damn Jacksonville fans. I'm starting to catch wind that they're getting excited about their future. Those cocky troublemakers.

We've talked this to death. Whether or not Andy is having success in KC is irrelevant. He said himself he felt rejuvenated there.... he needed a fresh start himself. It was time to move on for both sides and both sides were better off for it. He got a lot of unnecessary hate but he needed to move on himself even more then we needed to move on without him.

Which is absolutely mind-boggling. His calling card was always that he could use what he had no matter what. With each passing year he got more and more stubborn

What Brees said was he couldn't imagine either him or Payton not returning. Brees has a 30 mil cap figure so his imagination needs some work
maybe Brees is loyal to Payton, and if Payton wants to test the waters he joins up in Philly and Brees follows him here :)

Can't imagine Brees going anywhere that isn't indoors. His indoor/outdoor splits are ridiculous. He's very average outside.
