*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (1 Viewer)

Foles stinks. I don't like Bradford much but if he meets the second round conditions he's an upgrade from Foles who is back peddling to St. Louis as we speak.
It was fairly obvious that Chip didn't like him.....but I would have thought Foles' value would have been a bit higher around the league.
The Bills would've given more for Foles. Why couldn't they have ripped off Chip twice? :wall:
Twice?
Oh ok. I'm stretching the McCoy trade as a ripoff. It was fairly fair and only time will tell who comes out on top.

Going to look how a big Philadelphia Eagles board is reacting, and the whole thing has crashed :P

"This is really fascinating because there are teams that are sitting at the top of the draft, according to executives that I've talked to, who would believe that they would prefer to have Sam Bradford, who's 27 and coming off basically missing the last year and a half of his career -- that they would rather have then take a chance on, say, somebody like Marcus Mariota or Jamies Winston because they have seen what Bradford can do. One caveat to this is: is Bradford healthy or not coming off of two ACL surgeries? But the belief is: take a shot with Bradford and save your first round draft pick and take somebody else."

You're on crack. Foles has accomplished more in 3 years than Bradford has his whole career.

Admittedly I haven't seen much of Bradford but I always thought that when a team picks a QB early they have to surround him with weapons. Good thing we got rid of all of ours.

But in this scenario, the team acquiriing Bradford keeps their first round pick, so that doesn't help get Mariota.

The problem though is the money. Bradford's salary is going to be a sticking point in regards to moving up. Realistically...you're (probably at the least) looking at:

2015 1,2

2015 1 (2 to St. Louis )

Bradford

another couple of mid level picks over the next two/three years.

Alright let's try to think happy thoughts. The Eagles still have a ton of cap space. Could they re-work Bradford's contract to something more trade-friendly, eating some of the cap in the process.

Reports are some teams at the top of the draft like Bradford. Its possible the TB trade rumors were real. Maybe a trade of Bradford with a better contact and a package of picks / players gets us #1 and Evans as previously leaked. Could it be possible TB is scared off from Winston's off-field stuff and don't want to use the 1 for Mariota, a QB that wouldn't play for a year or two.

Let's hope.

Because they had nothing to offer as far as QB goes to the Rams.

@MattLombardo975: Bradford's repetitive accuracy and sound decision making (when healthy) should tell us all we need to know about what a "Chip Kelly QB" is.

Would Eagles get the conditional 3rd pick back from Rams for Bradford playing less than 50% of games for Philly if they trade him?

They have a top 10 pick.

Does personnel control mean he really has ALL the say in trades such as this one? I mean, he at least bounced this off the FedEx guy or someone right?

Wait, we're still doing the Mariota thing?
I have to think so. Bringing Bradford in with the sudden lack of skill players doesn't help the team. I imagine most had Foles (in some capacity) moving in the trade to move up. As it stands, if a team likes Bradford...I don't see why they wouldn't take him and whatever picks they're giving. The second to St. Louis obviously hurts......but maybe there was a team that valued Bradford a lot more than Foles.....to the point that the second will be negligible.

Case Keenum? Marcus mariota?

You don't think a top 10 pick is enough for Bradford by itself?

Do the Rams feel they are close to competing?....If they did with Bradford....it wouldn't make much sense to move him for a pick and be without a QB.

@Jeff_McLane: The Browns were one. RT @SI_PeterKing: There were other teams, multiple, involved in the chase for Bradford.

For real! They're the guys that are usually in charge. HTH.

Lol...nobody else is trading for Sam...what do you think a fan base would do if their team planned to trade for Sam flipping Bradford... I'll tell you what they would do. They would flock to a message board and post that the reason they traded for Sam was just because other teams really want him more so wait and see what we get for him...lol...chip Kelly...chooo chooo...

You are missing the point. THEY wanted Foles over any of the QBs in the draft and didnt have to give up their first and got a 2nd back. Its a huge win for the Rams.

It doesn't matter anyways because no team would have traded a 1st for Bradford. We can speculate ifs all day long.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it wasn't really an either or option for the rams.

Seems bad, but who knows. Maybe Chip saw enough of Bradford tape + Foles to be convinced he'd much rather have Bradford as his QB. Being honest - Foles wasn't great in 2014. Shoddy O-line, yes, but he wasn't great. I'm going to reserve judgement until the season, when we see the results of Chip's plan. It's all speculation at this point.

I never said it wasn't. I just doubted that any team at the top draft really preferred Bradford enough to pursue him.
