*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (2 Viewers)

I wanted Perriman but I understand why he wasn't an option. You're not going to just learn how to catch at this level. Sounds like DHB
I would have preferred a different position, but if you're going to take a WR, then pick one with some special characteristics. Don't see a lot of reason to project him as being more than just a solid starter. Now that he's on the team though I hope I'm wrong.
I don't know that a guy like Reggie Wayne had something special. This kid had very solid combine numbers all around, great production and seems (according to Chip) to have a Matthews like work ethics and enthusiasm for the game. So far Chip has really maximized what he got from his WR's so far. Out of Huff, Matthews and Agholor one, maybe 2 will shine. But I'm someone who believes in Bradford.
You have Reggie Wayne on your side, I have Freddie Mitchell on mine. Usually guys become very good to great because of something besides intangibles. Your Matthews comparison is a fair one, and I think he has a high floor, but a low ceiling as well, which is OK for where he was taken.

Like I said, I don't hate it, but I think there were better options at that pick, that's all. He's on the team now, so I hope he proves you right.

That hurts. A lot.
He's a man without a position IMO
man i hope. I was a sucker for his combine highlights
Good tape, good performance, good combine, good character. Potential shutdown corner or very good safety. But we drafted a #2/3 WR. Yay.
You're in the wrong profession. He'll start as a cb, fail and move to safety before we'll have a shot at him in FA

@EliotShorrParks: Chip said he didn't offer either Bradford for Cox. "We didn't offer any players." #Eagles
Ya, who was it in the last page that said we should trust what Chip says? He clearly went after MM, and he clearly did offer players. Let Chip troll the media, let's not fall for it in here guys.

Thought his hands were overblown and showed at his pro day great hands?

I wanted Perriman and was so excited when he was on the board there. Ugh, and now Dallas gets Jones. Steal for them.

Gordon going to San Diego was a great pick for the birds. Cowboys could have grabbed him and that would have hurt more than the Jones pick imo.
I agree. Even if Jones is good all that does is make up for their complete whiff on the CB they traded up for a couple years back.

That whole trade seemed like a fantasy from the start. These guys all talk and all know each other. Everyone knew they wouldn't budge and I'm sure Chip and MANY others only did their due dillegence.

We did the deal for ou QB a whole back now.

He's far from a guarantee to be a good player but he's clearly a better prospect than Algohor. Hopefully they rebound like last year with a better 2nd round pick.

I don't think EVERYTHING we heard the last few weeks was total BS. No, I don't believe everything I read, but when that many reports are saying chip is trying hard to move up, and reports tonight were that he ACTUALLY made those offers, and Cleve talking so much about Bradford, I'm going to call it more then just due dilligence and just brushing it off. I think there was interest and effort that came up flat... that happens sometimes. Happened to us last year in the first round.

On that I agree, I predicted the Titans would just take MM and while I'm not crazy about Bradford he's still the best option overall.

Knowing he was going to pick a 2nd/3rd round type of talent I would feel better about trading multiple picks for Mariota.

3rd round talent? I know you're upset, and I'm not overly thrilled either, but cmon, he was never a 3rd rounder.... ranked 5th/6th best wr in the draft. Shoulda gone early 2nd, but I'll trust chip and see what comes from him. Dallas sure made us pay for not taking jones though.

If every arrow points toward something not being the smart thing to do he won't do it.

Meh. I'm cool with it. Chip likes his skills in his offense more than another guy around the same grade. Who am I to argue. Is it any different than dumping Shady for Demarco? Chip wants what he wants.

I dont know. Rumours were he wanted Cox and Kendricks out and it sounds like that is the case now. Ones we wanted Jordan that came out but not from Chip... turns out we almost traded for him. If you say it was "BS", then why would we contact tampa and tenn at all? It's easy to have hind sight and say 'oh chip had it all under control the whole time... never wanted them, just kicked the tires". He wanted MM, there's no doubt about it. Lots going on behind the scenes.

I feel dramatically different- hate the idea of giving up multiple picks to move up.

But let's not pretend that ALgohor was a giant stretch either. Most draftnicks had him going late 1st/early 2nd and we knew Chip liked him. No way he makes it to pick 40, let alone the third round. He looks like a good fit at a position of need. Not my preference at 20, but don't hate it either

Ya that's the boat I'm in. He was close to Perriman even though I wanted Perriman much more, but let chip take his guys. This is all going to come crashing down, or we are going to win a super bowl. There doesn't seem to be much in between.

Chip gone if we don't make it past round 1 within 2 years now.

Other teams can leak info to drum up demand and let teams know what the current bidding is, if extension talks with a player on the block are part of the deal then agents might leak it. Doesn't have to have come from Chip to be true. He has to say players weren't included though, even if it was true.

Doesn't have to come from Chip and doesn't have to be true either.

Former Oregon QB who's coach is in the nfl and needs a QB. These aren't hard dots to connect for a story.

After the Bradford trade it was obvious still the Mariota train rolled on.

WE TRADED PICKS AND A QB FOR A FORMER #1 OVERALL QB MAKING 13 MILLION!!!

When does reason set it!? The Mariota story was just that. A story. It was never real much like Chip needing a running QB. Actions versus preconceived notions about what someone thinks a guy who gives you nothing wants.

When he signs an extension. He could have ended that talk pretty easily by getting that done. I expect a new deal by next Friday for Bradford.

Agree we'll never really know what's true and what's not, but he admits they did try and trade up and gives a completely BS story that it was only in the last couple of days. Not that much of a stretch to think it included players as well as picks.

But it didn't happen so who cares now, let's think about the rest of the draft and the season.

Still believe Bradford has no reason at all to sign an extension until after the season, unless the Eagles just offer to pay him like a Top 10 QB now. They wouldn't, would they?

Really don't understand the comments about Agholor being a 2nd/3rd round talent. Maybe you were reading a two month old draft guide. Everything I read in the last few weeks firmly rated him as the 4th-5th best WR, mocked in the late first or early second. Perriman had more exciting measurables, but also more glaring flaws. Clearly Chip values consistency and versatility, Agholor seems to have these in spades.

I would have preferred a DB first, WR in the second. Guess Chip didn't like the depth of the WR class as much. Or maybe he really sees something special in Agholor - I have read articles that actually compare him to ODB. Hoping Jalen Collins falls to us tomorrow, or we trade up to get him.

Why is it silly to think if wasn't in the last couple of days? How many times are picks dealt a week or month prior to the draft? Never. Once the draft is close is when people (teams like Tennessee) start listening. It wouldn't make sense to start months ago.

No one is more relieved than I am to see Tennessee pick Mariota so this can all be done. I called the Mariota BS over a year ago when "Manziel was the one who got away". The medias stories are the complete opposite of what Chips actions have been.

Give him a 5 year deal and pay him top 10 money. In 3 years it will be top 20 money.

While I'll agree that the media has been pushing the running QB thing on Chip since day one (Vick, Geno, Johnny), the Mariota thing was real. He can lie now to save face because he has to coach those players but he was dangling them. Tennessee just didn't see what they liked.

Actions versus preconceived notions about what someone thinks a guy who gives you nothing wants.
again so why did he call tampa? and tennessee? It doesn't matter if he wanted him or not, he didn't get him. Wouldn't surprise me if we hear in the next year or so that Chip was after him hard.

Truth probably lies somewhere in the middle like most things do.

I don't think everything we heard was BS but anything involving Mariota was IMO. Like I said previously, Chio wears all the hats and when do you hear anything from him? Never. It was stories. Like the Manziel ones, the Geno ones and the ones that will come out next year with the Ohio State QB etc.

If every arrow points toward something not being the smart thing to do he won't do it.

When he signs an extension. He could have ended that talk pretty easily by getting that done. I expect a new deal by next Friday for Bradford.
Yep he clearly left the door open for a reason.... in case he could land MM.

Would rather Rowe. Some good guys left on the board... hope chip is ready to make a move.

No one is going to show their hand until it's time to get real. That's bad business. I'm sure any real offer came within the past 24 hours and at that time everyone knew it wasn't enough and would get rejected.

Two reports about players being offered came from Glazer and Rapport and both of those were different. Glazer had "a QB and a player" and Rapport had basically any tradeable player and picks. They seem made up to me.

Chip isn't leaking a thing which would point to two conflicting reports from "sources" in Tennessee. I'm calling BS.

I agree it's in the middle. And the middle would be a seemingly lowball offer you knew would be rejected but you have to try.
