I'm a Steelers fan living in Philly and I try to keep things as objective as possible but I'm not sure today is the day where you should be defending Foles. He was awful today. He was put in a really good position to lead a game winning drive against a demoralized team (without maybe their best defensive player) and he failed.

It doesn't matter if you're a fan or not. How could he be "awful" completing almost 70% of his passes with 3-4 drops? The one to Kendricks is a walk in TD

As for the bold.4th and 5 at STL 39

I'm not going to derail this thread because it's really not about Foles. Also, I really like what you bring to the table. However, I watched the game today and Foles did not have a good game. Sure his completion % was good but did he even attempt one deep pass?

ETA -- How are you going to defend the interception that Foles threw in the 4th quarter than led to the Steelers FG?

I don't defend anything, but I did catch the presser. Foles said all game the S went to the outside on that look. Allen baited him for the win. You can tell that's what he was thinking the way he floated the pass. It happens.

I seen a few deep passes to Kendricks and one to Britt that resulted in a PI. Have to check the stats when they come out, but he has a whole body of work that suggest he's not consistently dinking and dunking. Bradford is/does and actually looks "atrocious." Thread back on track

You must be so upset that your golden boy couldnt lead the rams past an awful steelers D and that a Bradford led Eagles team beat the jets. Pure guess, he's not taking the matchups. We went through this during the Vick/Cooper era where Vick wasn't capable of making anticipation throws. Throw long and you'd either get a long gain, pass interference, incomplete pass or a pick. The odds say stretch the field at least some percentage of the time regardless of who you have. Bradford is getting the time in the pocket to do so.

Who is the reliable deep threat? Off the top of my head, Bradford has thrown a couple deep passes to Austin-both dropped. Think Agholor has dropped more passes than he's caught. Cooper hasn't caught a pass since week 1, Huff's caught a couple. Look I'm not saying that Bradford has looked great, but he's been pretty accurate for the most part. I'd be willing to bet that the Eagles are leading the league in dropped passes. The two wheel routes that were dropped yesterday were brutal. They were good reads, perfectly placed and both would have been big gains and probably TDs.

No one said everything is fine. The guy hasn't played since 2013. And has had two serious knee injuries. It takes a while to shake off the rust. And moreso, to feel security with pass rushers around you. I guess the Green Bay preseason game fooled everyone into thinking we had Joe Montana. All I was looking for (besides the win) was to see improvement. There was definite improvement over the Dallas game.

Sometimes being an Eagles fan sucks simply because we have the most miserable, pessimistic,cynical fans in the whole league. We have ShaBucks rooting harder for Foles and McCoy than he does his own team. Just so he can say he was right about not liking the trades/signings. And then guys like you pointing out every bad throw. If you were expecting Brady-like performances right out of the gate, that's on you. How about trying to be a fan and pulling some positive from the ROAD WIN AGAINST AN UNDEFEATED TEAM.

It was barely at his shoe laces and late while Agholor was running full speed across the middle of the field while Sam had a perfect pocket and plenty of time. Terrible miss. And Matthews drop was even a bad throw, he had to do a 180 to have a chance at it.

maybe we're talking about different passes. The Agholor one I'm thinking of was low, and he had to go down to get it, but he got his body square to the ball and both hands on it. It just went right thru his hands and under his legs. I feel confident in saying that Maclin would have caught it. And I'm not saying Agholor should be Maclin, but he's got to be better.

I agree with billy here. I'm hoping that it's still rust and he will improve but I'll go back to what I said in the game thread: all of presumably being total NFL fans and fantasy football geeks, have seen Bradford for what, six years now? When I first learned of the trade to get him, I had a near stroke. A day later, I did the same thing with the Desean decision and rationalized myself into thinking maybe Chip sees something none of us have seen and so I buy in. But with every game I watch, I do not see this blue chip, cannon armed, gunslinger and master of "repetitive accuracy" machine. I read that amazing essay on him from the Ram's fan detailing his awesomeness at Oklahoma and his mastery of the spread offense. But this is not that senior in college. This is a man who's endured multiple injures including two blown ACLs since then. And so--be honest everyone--who ever prior to Bradford coming here ever would have said, "Oh Bradford--he's a top QB! I wish we had him!" I'd highly doubt any of us ever felt that while watching hi during his Rams career.

I hope I eat my words. But to me, he has not ever passed the eyeball test. And forget that GB preseason game. Sanchez looked like Montana last year in preseason.

Maybe with the running game, the D and special teams, he can be enough. But I can't ever see this guy being the center piece of the team. How many games has Chip won now thanks to the D and special teams?

I'm not trying to be a downer here. Just trying to maintain objectivity. There is nothing more in sports that I want than an eagles Super Bowl win.

I missed the second half because of a fundraiser I had to go to, but Ryan Matthews' drop on the swing pass was absolutely criminal. He had to reach back, but a junior varsity backup makes that catch 9 times out of 10. And that would have been an easy touchdown. And a ton of yards for Bradford. I think it was pretty evident that he was going to take the Eagles down the field to win the Falcons game too, if Jordan Matthews didn't drop that ball in the middle of the field. Bradford's season sure does look a lot different without those drops.

You guys are sticking to those two dropped wheel routes and thinking everything is fine. He overthrew Austin deep by 5 yards. Had a perfect pocket and all day and threw a McNabb to Agholor 30 yards downfield. Threw behind and over receivers countless times. He was just as bad yesterday as he's been the first two weeks. Sure, he threw a couple nice passes with two big drops, but his work as a whole was pretty bad.

No one said everything is fine. The guy hasn't played since 2013. And has had two serious knee injuries. It takes a while to shake off the rust. And moreso, to feel security with pass rushers around you. I guess the Green Bay preseason game fooled everyone into thinking we had Joe Montana. All I was looking for (besides the win) was to see improvement. There was definite improvement over the Dallas game.

Sometimes being an Eagles fan sucks simply because we have the most miserable, pessimistic,cynical fans in the whole league. We have ShaBucks rooting harder for Foles and McCoy than he does his own team. Just so he can say he was right about not liking the trades/signings. And then guys like you pointing out every bad throw. If you were expecting Brady-like performances right out of the gate, that's on you. How about trying to be a fan and pulling some positive from the ROAD WIN AGAINST AN UNDEFEATED TEAM.

You do know that defenses run pretty vanilla schemes in the preseason, right? They aren't showing their blitz packages or all their line stunts. I, too, got excited when I saw how well Bradford played in that Green Bay game. I didn't think he'd be 10 for 10 every half, but I liked the timing he seemed to have with his receivers. And that's seems to be off now that the season started.

I really can't understand how you didn't see massive improvement in his play over the Dallas game. I was at that game and he never seemed comfortable. Feet never seemed to be planted right. And the interception in the end zone was one of the poorest QB choices I ever saw. He was a few drops from having a great stat line yesterday. He's still not there. But the fact that they're one game out of first and he's going in the right direction, gives me a lot of hope. I'm pulling very hard for him to right the ship because if not, it's Sanchez time. And he's no better than Foles. And then we're right back to being that team that either misses the playoffs or gets their and gets eliminated in one game. We need to hope Bradford can end up being better than the Foles and Sanchez's of the league or we have no hopes to ever get deep into the playoffs.

Bang on. And he won't answer this, nor will he answer all the positives he sees with the team... it will just be some snarky answer or "tell me what I'm thinking Deamon" rather then admit positives. He claimed Chip assembled a #### team and he was off the bandwagon a while back. Yet somehow he still cheers bets on this team. I have very little doubt that if we played the Rams this year he'd secretly be hoping Foles had a better game then Bradford. Can anyone ACTUALLY see him coming in this thread and being excited that Bradford had a great performance/win and Foles looked awful and we beat them badly? What kind of fan does that? Calling it critical thinking is a pretty lazy excuse, yet there's always an excuse or response to everything. Unless he's called out on something and just goes completely quiet and won't respond (like how he said he's off of the bandwagon and done with this team)

Those arguing against Bradford think that those arguing for Bradford are calling him a savior or stud QB. We aren't. No one is saying that. But if his receivers didn't drop so many damn balls, or our oline opened up our run game the first two weeks, would we have as much complaining about him if we were 3-0? He has struggled, but I DID see SOME improvement.... and as long as he's improving even a tiny bit each week, he's going in the right direction. Let's see what he does the next few weeks before hanging the guy.

I didn't see massive improvement, but I saw some improvement. It seems when he gets in a rut, or overthinks things, it affects his throws. Preseason there's little pressure, he just goes out loose and plays football. I think a lot of this is mental because he clearly has the arm and accuracy to be the QB we need him to be, he just needs to play loose. Maybe the season opener, then the big game vs Dallas got to him a little, and combined with his rust, affected his play.

He needs to be better no doubt, but I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll be a bit more calm and sling it a bit vs Washington. It has to be demoralizing and make you overthink your throws when you keep getting picked off in important situations, or you miss out on TD's because your receivers dropped the ball. Hopefully the drops stop so he can loosen up and get into a rhythm.

But he looked a lot better in the first half than he did against Dallas. A lot. If he doesn't keep improving, he could eventually be benched in favor of Sanchez. And that would be a disaster. Because even if he played to the best of his potential, Philly isn't beating Dallas, Arizona, Green Bay, or Seattle in the playoffs. I'm tired of 10-6 and no playoffs. Just good enough to not get a decent draft pick. Bradford is still young. We may not have seen the best of him yet. And if we want a chance to get to the Super Bowl in the next few years, we need the Bradford we saw against Green Bay in preseason. So to not be rooting for him just so we can say 'I told you so', is something a Cowboy or Giants fan should be saying. Not a so-called Eagles fan.

We were only favoured on the opening line which was before the Jets beat up on Indy in their week 2 game. Tuesday morning we were 2.5 point underdogs. I think I'd rather be underdogs haha.

I do worry about Maxwell on Desean. He played much better this week though, but you're right, Desean shows up against us and will want this one badly. They couldn't get anything going last week vs the Giants, but they have a long 10 days to figure it out and game plan for us. Hope Chip makes some more adjustments and isn't just satisfied with that win and plays the same way.

We seemed to play well vs tight ends this year (which is a first for us), but Reed is probably the best tight end we've seen this year in terms of speed and strength (atl and NYJ had no one, and witten isn't as fast as Reed). Hope we can still shut down Reed from having a big game but he is my biggest worry.

I see a 20-13 game.

That's a shame for him but something was definitely wrong. He was booming it out of the end zone last year and barely making the goal line this year.

All 22 just came out, but won't have time to watch until later today.

Since there's so much debate on Bradford I thought I'd throw my $.02 in. I might change my mind once I watch again, but based on a thorough look at the first two games and the live watch of the 3rd, I think Bradford's performance has deteriorated each week. I thought he had a good game in Week 1, was patchy but had some really nice throws and was victimised by drops in Week 2 but the Jets game had more misses on him and the only throw that I thought was really a great pass was the wheel route that Sproles dropped. There were other drops as well, Mathews had another really bad one, and other throws that could have been caught, like Agholor's but Bradford's accuracy was really off in that game, on first watch. It's hard to see live whether he's missing opportunities unless the coverage points it out. The only positive from that game really was that there was no turnover in the passing game. 50% completion, 118 yds and 4.2 YPA along with the number of 3 and outs is not good enough, especially with a functional run game for the first time this year. I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt for a guy who hasn't played in a year and a half, in a new system with new teammates but if he doesn't pick it up markedly in the 2nd quarter of the season, the team will struggle to be a threat to good teams.

On the other hand, I think Maxwell has improved a bit each week. I think he's adjusting to the different things we're asking him to do, and Davis seems to be playing the CBs tighter which suits him better as well. The tighter coverage suited Rowe as well, as the footwork/technique side of things is less important then. Most of the time the Jets really moved the ball, like the drive before the half, we'd switched to mostly zone coverage for some reason, and Fitzpatrick was able to find the holes.

Even BDawk has said its going to take him at least 4 games to get up to speed and comfortable with playing football again. So sure we can only hope that's the case. But for crying out loud Alex Smith throws downfield more than he does. If they didn't have the wheel route working occasionally they would be screwed. He seems to stare down his option or check down immediately. Hopefully that comes with being comfortable. And yes his WRs are not making things easier, at all.
