*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (1 Viewer)

Anyways let's get back to the Eagles. Bradford hasn't played in a week so debating on how bad a trade for him was a year ago is over.

Almost all the lines have moved to a Pick'em, so betting seems to have been on Detroit.
Cause the Eagles looked like hot garbage. I'm telling you, double digit Eagles win this week.

Eagles probably have the worst fanbase in the league. And the players know that. Wouldn't be surprised if it costs them some free agents. If Bradford happens to light it up when he comes back, it wouldn't surprise me if he signed elsewhere after the season.
Worst fanbase in the league? LOL

Yeah, we give players a hard time but that's because Philly fans are REALLY into our teams. I doubt there are more than a few more knowledgable fanbases in the NFL.

There's teams that have a hard time filling the stadium. THAT'S a crappy fanbase.
I stick by my statement. This fanbase can't even enjoy wins. Right now, everyone should be booing. The performance against average Miami and Tampa Bay teams was abysmal. But our fans take for granted the fact that most seasons we are in contention. We are almost never a bad team. So many fans would LOVE that for their teams, but we don't appreciate it. And the most vocal complainers disappear and don't say a word after good performances. They don't enjoy those weeks. Or, they will make calls to WYSP and belly ache that this player didn't do well or that player. I've been at the Linc and heard 'us' boo after the first possession of the game if we had to punt. Immediately putting addition pressure on the players. It would be better to have a half-empty staidium. I also witnessed huge cheers when Romo got hurt in week two. As a group, we have zero class. And it's embarrassing to get lumped into it when other fans talk about us. I've been listening to ESPN and Fantasy Sports Radio this week. I won't turn on WYSP.
if you are viewing Eagles fans by those that call the local sports radio shows, then you are almost as bad as the national media.

judging us by booing Romo being hurt is a little off too. Should Eagles fans be happy to have a better chance to beat the Eagles at home in a crucial game? i say yes. they weren't cheering Romo getting cancer, but after a pretty nice play by Hicks i don't see a huge problem getting excited that they now have a better chance to beat the Cowboys.

only thing i get on the fan base about is how much venom and hate McNabb received. that was so off and clueless it was horrendous, and made us look like a bunch of idiots.

ETA: the more i think about it, McNabb's last few years is when the general fan base did kind of get a little more dumb. It is a horrible generalization though to judge all Eagles fans by the idiots who are the loudest.

Dude our team totally sucks worse than yours we are so going to beat you at losing this Thursday!
And Golden Gate, and Eric Enron and William Fuller and Tatum Bell will all get TDs.
I agree. Detroit had it rough the last two weeks. They can take it easy in this one.
And now we're going to win by 11?! Make up your mind man! You change your opinion on this team more then a woman changes her clothes.

I actually really can't decide/predict if we win or lose on Thursday. I kind of think it's not going to be a very close game though. We either get very overmatched and the team dials it in and season is over, or we somehow get extra motivated and turn this thing around and play at least one more good game and win by 10. Don't see a nail biter, but who knows right now.
I agree with this. No clue who wins, but I tend to doubt it will be close.

I just watched the Lions game. Darious Slay handled Amari Cooper. I know Rodgers had trouble with the defense for like 50 mins, now Carr.. Sanchez might be in trouble in they're serious.

They might be a sleeper for me outside of week 13, 15 with Sanchez- Rodgers- Keenum?- Brees- Gabbert
So Slay takes someone away. Who? Does it matter who?

I just want to see them play better. After that overtime win in Dallas this 2 game losing streak is really surprising to me. I thought that was the start of something. Obviously not

McCoy, C. Williams, Foles, Cole, and Maclin for Murray, Matthews, Maxwell, Bradford, Sanchez, B. Graham, Alonso, +5-10 mil in 2015 cap and 55mil in guaranteed money in the future?

I assume Bradford will get paid soon, making this even more mind blowing. He's worth 10x more than Nick Foles? Foles has a higher comp%, higher QB rate, better winning record, more TDs (in 13 less games) and his ACL have yet to need repair. wtf? Where is the margin for error?

Theoretically you're a few players/ bounced fumbles from a playoff run. Was this team that bad that you had to do a massive overhaul?

You can let me off of the Chip Kelly Bandwagon here at the corner :tfp:
Pretty sure this is dissing his offseason decisions... and you also said you were off the wagon.
Chip is going back to college and Eagles fans will be left with this bag of ####.
Still think Chip has assembled a "bag of ####" or have you calmed down a little and realized you were wrong
You've been saying the same dumb #### about being wrong since god knows when.
I envy your life, must be awesome.
im.just shocked he doesn't have his boy Foles along with McCoy in his avatar. Since he's so stuck in the past.
Check it out!!

Reports of 'anonymous player(s)' speaking through their agents that 'Chip has lost the locker room' and team doesn't want to play for him.

Losing sucks, and that's not helping, but this dialogue re: an internal coach/player rift continues to surface on some level. (They don't seem to like Chip, have no relationship with Chip, don't like the system in place, etc.)

While I think lots of this is on the players to do their damn job, it definitely explains the lack of energy/heart this team plays with. They look like they packed it in v. TB. Embarrassing.

And we now have spats on the sideline and teammates questioning Murray's effort. This was the one fear of having a lot of turnover and not winning.

The general idea is that Chip wont be gone this year. If the above grows, the possibility of him leaving or getting the axe will be very, very real.
And today its all over nationally. An agent for a player states to NJ.com that the team is done with Kelly.

That's interesting. I hope the players would have enough pride as athletes and men to give their best effort. Pretty sad if they don't. Makes for an interesting Thanksgiving game.

The Detroit game is going to be very telling. If you look at it objectively we are a struggling team, playing in a shirt week and are quitting on the coach. Detroit is hot, playing at home and coming off of 2 big wins.

When things are going well, it masks a lot of problems. They went from a 4 win team in 2012 to a 10 win playoff team in Chip's first year. Last year, they didn't improve on that, but that was more player regression (in my opinion). This year, they have gone backwards. And are below .500. That's when the warts start to show.

They won't because they are professionals and professionals want to get paid. You get paid when you win and play your ### off. So even if they hate Chips guts, they're going to come out fired up. All week they heard how gutless and pathetic they are. That they're weak and worst of all SOFT. You don't think in the macho world of pro football that doesn't resonate? The defense is going to come out guns blazing. I just hope the offense puts up enough points for it to matter.

Because nobody else in the NFC east wants to take the division. Thus, the Eagles will probably be in the hunt all year.

Yes. It's come out a few times each year in one form or another. Ultimately, Chip has gone 24-18 despite complaints and players taking shots on their way out the door.

Lol. So true. Someone quoted an old post from September before the Jets game, and Insein or someone said this game is for their season. They were 0-2 at the time. The funny thing is, he was right. It kept them from going 0-3 and possibly tailspinning to a 4-12 season. And like Fred said, no one else in this division seems to be good enough to take command. When the division winner will probably be 8-8, you just have to stay within a game of .500

The genius behind their current offense. Detroit won't know which ####ty receiver to cover on a given play.

With that said, I do feel like this game truly is their season (at least from a psychological standpoint). If they come out stale again, I think the players may quit on Chip. If that drubbing at home against Tampa can't light them up, nothing will.

The defense is going to come out guns blazing. I just hope the offense puts up enough points for it to matter.26-15
Why does it seem like the 100th time we'll say something like "This is their season" for a game?
Lol. When the division winner will probably be 8-8, you just have to stay within a game of .500
With that said, I do feel like this game truly is their season (at least from a psychological standpoint). If they come out stale again, I think the players may quit on Chip. If that drubbing at home against Tampa can't light them up, nothing will.
Yep. If TB setting records on you in your house and the crap storm that the media has been this week doesn't light a fire then nothing will.

Eagles come out DOA this week IMO it forces Lurie's hand.

It's always 1 game at a time but:

Philly - Det-W, NE-L, Buf-W, Ari-L, Was-W, NyG-?

NYG - Was-W, NYJ-W, Mia-W, Car-L, Min-L, Phi-?

It's gonna be a sweat when Gmen get to 8-5 but no way they beat Carolina on a short week. Then at Minnesota in Late December against Peterson will be very difficult. I think they'll be 8-7 going into that final game.

The genius behind their current offense. Detroit won't know which ####ty receiver to cover on a given play.
Brilliant

"Go ahead and waste your all pro corner on Riley Cooper or Miles Austin muhahaha!!!"

The Detroit game is going to be very telling. If you look at it objectively we are a struggling team, playing in a shirt week and are quitting on the coach. Detroit is hot, playing at home and coming off of 2 big wins.
The thing is, as poorly as the Eagles have played, these players know they are one game out of first place. They also know Dallas has a very tough game and either the Giants or Redskins have to lose this week. As crazy as it sounds, these guys are right there in the playoff hunt. Would professional athletes really mail it in at that point in the season? God, I hope not.
Hey it makes for good headlines though.
Yup, and now Schefter is coming out and completely backing off his comments from yesterday. It is headline grabbing, and crap. I don't think it is much of a secret that Chip isn't "media-friendly", and I am sure they don't mind exaggerating or putting stuff out there if it digs at him a little. it's funny to say he lost the locker room now. Is that why Kelce is making so many silly mistakes, and Peters is so beat up? Is that why no one can catch passes consistently?

it is a farce and a headline grabber. even if Chip completely lost the locker room, there are plenty of guys there playing for contracts in the next few years. that is the motivator and what many will play for.

A lost locker room is simply a way for people to try and answer why this team took a nose dive so severely this year with no one element to point to (i.e. Romo being hurt for multiple games, etc.)

The lost locker room is also premature. If you see this kind of effort this week then it's understandable but they're jumping the gun after just one game IMO.

Yeah, it seemed a little too out there. That being said, maybe this is chalkboard type of stuff? Wonder if the guys know how erroneous these claims are and they rally behind him a little bit.

I kind of like how this game will give us the answer though. I'll believe it if we totally come out flat and get whooped by the Lions. But if we come out and whoop them, it's total BS. If for some strange reason this game is close, then I guess we know nothing.

I bet right this minute, Kelly and the players are having a water balloon battle followed by pizza and ice cream and laughing about the whole 'Kelly lost the team' thing.

3 games announced today for London next year:

Week 4: WAS v CIN

Week 7: STL v NFC East opponent (Either NY/DAL/PHI...still TBD)

Week 8: IND v JAX

Man they always seem to have bad games over there. St. Louis vs Philly would blow this board to pieces if Sam/Nick are still there. We would need to finish 3rd in our div though, which I guess is a real possibility.

EDT: That would be crazy if Wash finished 3rd. They'd get London games in week 4 and 7.

Really, who knows where the Rams end up in the West. 1 game out of 2nd/4th.

Whoever ends up opposite them gets the London game to eff up the schedule.

Bet we see Bradford under center tomorrow, but wouldn't bet that it's Kelce snapping him the ball. Great to hear Ertz out of protocol already and back to some limited activities. Peters a full go last 2 days should be fine. Mathews out hurts, but confident in Sproles to be a good compliment to Murray.

OUT

TE Zach Ertz (concussion), RB Ryan Mathews (concussion)

QUESTIONABLE

QB Sam Bradford (concussion, left shoulder), C Jason Kelce (knee), T Jason Peters (back)

PROBABLE

LB Kiko Alonso (ankle), LB Connor Barwin (quadricep), LB DeMeco Ryans (hamstring), DE Cedric Thornton (ankle), S Walter Thurmond (hamstring)

Bradford was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice, which, as the Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman pointed out on Twitter, was not a walk-through. It seems the decision to start either Bradford and Mark Sanchez will be made on Thanksgiving morning.

Kelce did not participate in practice on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Peters played the majority of last week's loss to the Buccaneers, and was a full participant in practice on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Interestingly enough, Ertz was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, which means he's been cleared for some contact after the concussion he suffered.

After thinking about it, I agree with the troll. We should have just signed Carson Palmer.

(Yes, I'm being sarcastic. I'm just trying to make some sense out of his pointless blabbering)
I never anything about Philly signing Palmer. I said don't compare Palmer to Bradford. Bradford has never shown at anytime he could put of the numbers Palmer did in his time in Cincinnati. You lucky Bradford didn't sign that deal.

No one said they're comparable. It was mentioned that there were no stud QBs available via free agency and our draft position dictated that we weren't getting a blue chipper. So Chip decided to take a flyer on a guy who was extremely gifted (No. 1 overall pick out of college) and who has battled injuries as a pro, and hope to strike gold like the Cards did with Palmer. I suppose the words "like the Cards did with Palmer" are unnecessary and the statement holds up without it. Would that leave you less rattled?

Nothing he has shown on the NFL level says gifted.

I would have loved if Bradford would have been smart enough to sign that extension. How would you be feeling about that "flyer" then?

I'm glad he didn't sign yet. I still need to see more to determine if he might be the guy to run this offense. I haven't seen it yet. I loved the move by Kelly. Foles had already shown he was an average to below average quarterback. They could have just let him compete with Sanchez for the starting job and been content to be like last year. Decent, but out of the playoffs. He rolled the dice. because he wants to be more than decent. He felt Bradford had more potential than Sanchez and Foles. His durability has always been the question. And still is, apparently. He has slowly improved as the year went on. His best game was against Dallas three weeks ago. Then he got hurt the next week against Miami. As I said, I still am not convinced Bradford is the guy. But I liked that Kelly took a shot, even if it doesn't end up paying off. We've been average for too long. I'm tired of it and I'm glad our coach isn't settling for it.
