*Official 2015 Philadelphia Eagles* - Winning when it doesnt count (4 Viewers)

Good luck this week guys, gonna be a fun one. Meaningful division games this late in December are awesome, I hope next year we're all experiencing the same thing but with less pathetic records across the division...either way, may the best team win.
Yeah, good luck Eagles fans. Redskin fans are pretty pumped for this game since we didn't expect any meaningful December games this year. May the tallest midget win.

Line opened PHI -4, settled in at PHI -3. Over/Under 48. Vegas seeing a 26-23 type game going in PHI's favor. I concur, despite no Logan or Maxwell. Beau Allen can fill in at NT just fine IMO. Issues are in the secondary, but at least Rowe is confident he will play. Still, CBs being rookie Eric Rowe, Jaylen Watkins, and EJ Biggers? Yuck. At least Jenkins has been excellent in the slot CB/nickel role because problems on the outside for sure. Going to need a solid effort. Certainly shown they are capable of that. Hope Dr. Jekyll shows up and the pass rush of Cox, Barwin, Curry and Graham cover up issues on the backend.

At the end of the day, win a winnable game at home, and Philadelphia is in 1st place heading into week 17. Just like we expected. Everything else is just noise.

How do the Philly homers feel about R. Mathews this week?

Washington run D is not formidable. Home game. D. Murray out of the picture. If it weren't for an AZ blowout Mathews would have been 20+ touches.

Sneaky play this week?

Not only the injuries at CB but the fact there is a 1% chance the Defensive Coordinator can scheme to compensate for the weakness at all. He's notorious for allowing our starting CB's to get toasted with no help, imagine now with our top 2 out. We are going to have to win a shootout.

Ordinarily I'd be nervous about a healthy desean going against our secondary. Davis will have EJ Biggers playing 7 yards off, one on one all day. Might not be pretty.

Only way to win is to out score them. Our offense can't have any mistakes this week.

Looking like Rowe and Watkins outside, Jenkins in his usual 3rd/nickel CB role. I'm okay with that. Sadly, Maxwell wasn't playing at such a high level that the swapping in of Watkins will hurt all that much. Hopefully they stay on the field and Biggers on the sideline. Helps that the WAS passing O really struggles on the road. Pass rush will be key. Don't really see either team hitting 27+ unless some defensive/special teams splash plays happen.

Washington's offense is their strength right now. They control the ball, limit turnovers and can strike quick off of play action with Desean. Cousins is completing 70% of his passes. 70%!!! That's ridiculous. He's on fire right now and our defense has to find a way to get to him. Or our offense has to find a way to score 40.

Washington is also horrible on the road and in primetime. Expecting them to roll to 30+ is going against the grain IMO. Over under at 48 seems bang on to me. Mid-20's for both teams IMO.

ETA: 21, 19, 20, 10, 16, 24. (Total points scored by WAS in 6 road games)

Probably right. Division game with a lot on the line. Usually plays close.

Cousins has turned into 2013 Foles. He could have an out of character big road game due to the CB situation, will be interesting to see. He is also due for a Cuz like meltdown game....doubt it happens against this secondary though.

All that being said, would it shock me one bit to see WAS use 6 O-Lineman to give the QB time and mitigate against the pass rush/pressure (something they have wisely been doing) and see Reed crush Kiko and DeMarco in coverage? DJax and Garcon get open all day on Rowe and Watkins (and Biggers in dime sets?)

Nope. Wouldn't shock me one bit. Our pass D got lit up by less not that long ago!

And in that case, sure...WAS could hit 30 and if so I hope the offense can make the plays I believe that they can here.

Washington is going to score points. We're too banged up on defense to think otherwise. And Reed, Garcon, and Jackson are better than Ertz, Matthews, and Agholar. But as an Eagles fan, you just have to have faith that our advantage is at quarterback. Bradford has to outplay Cousins.

This game will go a long way in determining my opinion of what we should offer Bradford in the offseason. If you can't outproduce a guy like Kirk Cousins in a must-win December home game, then you can't claim to be worth 18 million per year.

Lots of rumors yesterday it would happen, but now it's official. Rowe cleared protocol, practicing today. Also, not so fast on Logan's calf... some quotes from Chip he is not going to be shut down for the year and may even play Saturday. If so, only down 1 defensive starter (Maxwell) from the group we've been using the last few games.

Honestly, think the biggest edge is Mathews/Sproles controlling the game flow and setting up play action to Ertz, YAC with Mathews, Huff, Agholor. IMO Bradford and Cousins are a wash. Agreed WAS has better receivers overall.

Re: Bradford a few tidbits from Philly.com article were interesting.

"Bradford finished the day completing 28 of his 41 passes for 361 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He averaged 8.8 yards per pass attempt and recorded a 91.6 passer rating."

"According to Pro Football Focus, Bradford completed nine of his 11 passes under pressure for 164 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He was sacked twice and hit seven times, but he delivered the second-highest yardage output of his career."

"“Sam’s not a burly guy, but I’m telling you, he’s extremely courageous," Shurmur said. "When you can see a quarterback keep his eyes down field knowing he’s going to take a pretty good whack, that’s what you’re looking for. When a quarterback’s eyes start to drop, then you got problems and he doesn’t do that.”

Is that worth $18M? IDK. But he's a damn sight better than what we had and he's steadily improving. Big game for him, obviously.

Happy Holidays Eagles fans! Should be electric in the Linc, a playoff atmosphere. Taking my 12 year old son. Section 229. Can't wait!

This and the eagles pass rush are their keys to victory. I hate playing against Sprolesy.

Cox guarantees an Eagles win.

After being named to his first Pro Bowl last night, Fletcher Cox was surrounded by reporters at his locker today. Cox relayed his excitement about the honor, but quickly shifted his focus to the Eagles’ game on Saturday against Washington.

“Yeah, it was one of my goals [to be a Pro Bowler], but I think the biggest relief will be when we win on Saturday,” Cox said.

A reporter followed up by asking if the Eagles defensive lineman was guaranteeing a win.

"Yeah, I'm guaranteeing a win," Cox said. "What am I supposed to say? That I think we're going to lose or something? No."

.@KCJoynerTFS: The metric that stood out to me since Week 9, is #NFL leader in vertical passing yards and attempts is Sam Bradford.#Eagles
Am I the only one who was shocked by this?
Guess he has been throwing it deep alot lately
Shocked that he leads the league, but not that he's up there. He's been throwing downfield a ton lately. Just another 'complain when he doesn't, don't acknowledge it when he does" thing.

Ugh. Of course that 2nd line of his will not be the big bolded one in newspapers and on ESPN

Cousins has been great. There's no denying that. The guy has 16 TDS and 3 INTS in his last 8 games. He's good (EDT: right now).

Mid-20's for both teams IMO.Probably right. Division game with a lot on the line. Usually plays close.

Cousins has been great. There's no denying that. The guy has 16 TDS and 3 INTS in his last 8 games. He's good (EDT: right now).
We'll he's about to meet the master strategist Billy davis. He's screwed

How about James Thrash being the official upholding the Beckham suspension today?

Eagles v Giants. :football:

Rowe practiced in full today and will be 100% Saturday.

Who is gonna match up on Desean? Reed?

I see a 30-24 type game here.

Rowe stating he believes he will stay on the right side where he has been all year, and not slide over to the left to replace Maxwell. Jaylen Watkins gets that job, with Jenkins as the S/Nickel CB.

LBs DeMarco and Kiko and sometimes S Jenkins take Reed.

Beau Allen in for Logan most likely, with Brandon Bair up on the game day 53 man roster for depth. Some talk may slide Cox to NT to take some reps with Thornton and Curry at DE.

I just hope the offense can keep up. I have a bad feeling that DJack has a big game.

ETA: Gonna see a whole lot of Jordan Reed too.

:scared:

Not sure why people are thinking offense is going to be the problem. Both have quarterbacks playing who have been hot lately.
Expect the unexpected.
This. There isn't any outcome that would shock me, high score, low score, blowout for either side...no result would be surprising really.
I'm extremely nervous. If I'm being 100% honest here, I see no answer for Desean and Reed. Chip needs to somehow get over the notion he's Bellicheat and not DEFER the damn kickoff! Get the ball, and get downfield and get a TD right away. You guys realize this team is 3 games under .500 at home over the last six years and that includes two 10-6 squads? I worry if they get down, the life will be sucked out of the Linc and the Skins (who are, let's face it, red hot in a way) might just give us our fourth brutal thumping this year.We have to win a shootout. I can't see anyway Davis comes up with some game plan like the magic versus the Giants last year.

I dont have a good read on the game either way, but I'm not really nervous. Probably because I'm not that worried about dropping two and getting a nice draft pick. I'm on record saying that making the playoffs would be a nice springboard for next year and you always choose playoffs over not making it. And I still feel that way. But a loss tonight wouldn't bum me out like it would if we were 10-4 in a great division and likely to miss the postseason.

Yeah I just don't feel great about this team or our chances tonight and we could use a higher draft pick with the lack of talent in a number of areas. It would be fun to keep DeSean shut up the way they did LeSean but with the beat up secondary I don't see how. I give us maybe a 35% chance. Would be interesting if make a run but don't see how we wouldn't get pounded 1st round.

Why 6 years? Does what happened under Fat Andy in 2009 have bearing? At home, under Kelly and Davis, PHI has been 13-9. Better than average.

4-4 in 2013

6-2 in 2014

3-3 in 2015

What's Washington's road record again? 1-5 this year. 1-7 last year.

13 days ago this 'red hot' Washington offense, at full strength, went into Soldier Field and scored 24 points. The Bears have averaged allowing 25.1 this year. Washington moved the ball for 374 yards of offense. The Bears allow an average of 342 yards this year. So, they did an average job versus a bad/average team.

More interesting to me, Washington managed only 3 points in the last 21 minutes of that game and gave up a two TD lead, going from up 21-7 in the early 3rd Q to being in a 21-21 tie in the 4th Q, before going on to win 24-21 with FG in the final minute.

The Washington home/road difference is absolutely shocking, and we really are not that bad at home. First two years under Kelly, Philly is 10-6 at home and 10-6 on the road. This year Philly is 3-3 at home, and 3-4 on the road. We are the same team home or away, apparently. Can't say that about Washington.

Yeah, I'll take a first round game v MIN, GB, or SEA and you never, ever know. Didn't we just win in Foxboro? Injuries happen, and expect the unexpected.

I agree with the the sentiments that Desean and Reed are in for big days. Either one of these guys could end up with 2-3 tds and it wouldn't surprise me.

True, I didn't know we had a chance at MIN.
