It's not so much that the phrases have lost their effectiveness but more so that people have just become jaded. Bigotry is essentially implied now as it pertains to how the GOP approaches social issues. Part of it stems from an obsession to turn America into a Christian theocracy, the other is simply the GOP pandering to its constituency where exclusion is the name of the game. Statistically, it's a losing strategy both short and long-term as long as the trend in shifting demographics remains (they will). That's actually more like it. You guys use "racist", "bigot", "homophobe" and the like so much to describe those that don't agree with you that they've pretty much lost all effectiveness.Mostly the peopleSo people that vote for the GOP are filled with hatred and are bigots? This is the GOP's biggest problem. The party's voters are ga ga about a guy who has no chance in the general election. They are too short-sided to do what's best for their party. They're just so high on the hatred and bigotry right now that they're not seeing the big picture.supporting trumpthat disagree with Democrats
What's sad is how the GOP's approach to social issues is completely drowning out any relevant economic views they may hold. Take Asian-Americans for instance. They are the fastest growing demo and also sport the highest median household income in the U.S. They used to overwhelmingly vote Republican but due to blatant bigotry and discrimination (it really, truly is blatant) they now overwhelming vote Democrat.
I have to wonder why any non-white male would even consider voting for Trump. That is probably the only group of people he hasn't insulted.
