Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Cruz has come back down in Iowa, he and Trump are virtually tied in the polls. Iowa will be a good test, Trump is not strong organizationally in Iowa, and in a caucus state that is a problem. I am predicting much worse than expectations from him in Iowa.

Trump will win NH going away.
The impression is that Trump is not organizationally strong - he's been good at playing possum with some of this stuff though I have noticed.

If Bloomberg runs Trump could start measuring drapes. Hope he sticks to trying to ban sodas.

Fiorina is so ugly she is hard to look at. Glad to see her sent down to the JV team. Next step, out the door.

Latest speculation I've heard today: the Republican race will not be decided going into a brokered convention. In order to stop Trump, the GOP will turn to Paul Ryan.
I don't understand how this would work. Why would all the Trump and Cruz delegates vote for Ryan?
Even if they did, Trump running third party guarantees a victory for Sanders or Clinton. It would be incredibly stupid and shortsig...oh, yeah, it's the GOP.

Never mind. Sounds like a good plan.
He's not running third party.
the third party ship has sailed
you think if the GOP brokers a convention and hands the nomination to Ryan that Trump just goes along with it? his ego wouldn't let him do that.
IIRC, by most state laws, running in a Republican primary disqualifies him as a third party.

Didn't even realize there was a debate tonight. Gotten too accustomed to the 4 am Sunday morning DNC debates, I guess.

Not really paying attention, but here's by conclusion on these candidacies

Fiorina: was never in any way qualified for the job. She is fiery and good on the podium, so the voters gave her a long look, but her business record was found wanting and now she's undercard material.

Huckabee: his candidacy became too closely linked to the social conservative niche. In an electorate that is center right on economics and center left on social issues, it seems he was never viable.

Santorum: his career was over after his disastrous interview on gay marriage many years ago, sure he won a couple of states in 2012 that Romney didn't fully contest because the delegate count was low. In delegates, Santorum got housed.

From what I can tell, only Michigan and Ohio apply "sore loser" laws to presidential elections.

This 'lack of jobs and low paying jobs only' is such BS. I have never seen so many open positions I'm qualified for.

Quick closing statement summary of the JV debate

Santorum claims to be a winner.

Huckabee loves Jesus and thinks everybody else should too

Fiorina painfully attempts to be likable with a few terrible jokes

it's actually true...blue collar jobs have been hit hard.
Strange, we can't keep blue collar people in 2 of our departments. They get experience and move on to a higher paying job.
anecdotal, the numbers nationwide are irrefutable on this.

And I'm not a blue collar apologist either, every person has an opportunity to get a degree in this country.

Nobody loves running for president more than Huckabee. Loves having this platform.

I hate the obligatory "I wanna thank the great people of [insert state where debate is taking place]" schtick we have to hear every ####### debate
