Official 2016 GOP thread: Is it really going to be Donald Trump?? (1 Viewer)

Marco is trying to check all the standard GOP viewpoints and he is missing the populist appeal on the trade issue that Trump has found.

Kasich makes too much sense for this election.
He is too soft on immigration. He had his chance to really stake out an interesting niche by being strong on budget, the governor of a swing state, had experience in DC, etc...but he decided to be soft on the illegal alien issue.

He is the candidate that has disappointed me the most this election.

I just absolutely love the raw disdain Trump has for #######. He looks at Jeb and sees nothing but a giant va gina.

Kasich makes too much sense for this election.
He'd be a very solid candidate in the general election, but nowhere near crazy enough to win the nomination.
Kasich and Paul are my two favorite candidates.
Probably my favorite two on the GOP side as well.
Me too. The problem with this whole process, though, is that the voters at the extremes are the ones who vote in the primaries ...so sensible candidates like Kasich stand little chance.

Don't agree with Carson's Christian stuff, but I like hearing him speak for some reason.
He has a calming demeanor. I'm sure he's a nice guy and a great doctor, but he is no way qualified for the Presidency and he has said some strange things...

Cruz is crushing Trump tonight. Not sure it will resonate in the polls.
Not really. Insulting the third most populous state is pretty dumb.
That's going to be the sound-bite of the week.
To who? When the terrorists attacked New York...New York didn't stop being liberals who support abortion, higher regulation, higher taxes and a multitude of other things that are completely contradictory to what voters in the GOP believe and stand for.

I just hope that the terrorists don't take out a San Francisco skyscraper...because then I guess we can't refer to San Francisco values anymore....

None of these guys are going to get a flat tax through. It's a complete waste of time to even talk about it. Never going to happen.

Has the entire debate been like this?

Gotta be the first time Rubio has made a point tonight without talking about how Obama has failed us / is failing us.

Cruz wants to abolish the IRS and you'll be able to send in your taxes on a postcard. Where would you send that postcard? A department? Of internal revenue, perhaps?

First debate I can recall where some of these candidates are lumping Bernie into their attacks against Hillary and Obama. Is the GOP starting to feel the bern?

Hey guys just got back from a parent meeting and missed the entire thing up to now. Quick summary? Who's winning?
Most substantive debate so far. Trump was challenged on the Muslim comment and Bush made some great points. Cruz clarified what he meant by "New York" - liberal - and Trump took him to the woodshed for insulting all New Yorkers. Kinda ironic.
