Catch the Hardball interview tonight. Starting at the 7:00 minute mark. Guy can't keep a lid on it for more than 5 minutes.

Has anyone read this? I just heard McKay Coppins talking about it on the radio and there were some good stories - one in particular about Ted Cruz's advisor saying he shut down the government not believing he could defund Obamacare but because it would put him on the map politically. Other Republicans were incensed over it but had to go along with it. Another interesting thing I hadn't heard is that Cruz's father told him from a very young age that he was sent by God to achieve greatness, something he apparently still believes.

 
Cruz said tonight on the CNN town hall that he "knows for a fact" that Trump planted the affair story

Also explained to Anderson Cooper that he will carpet bomb with strategic precision

And last but not least, he said there is a difference betwwen "izlam and islims"... when further pressed about his comments to target muslim neighborhoods and communities specifically in a model of what the NYPD did ... but Bill Bratton confirmed the ineffective nature of this defunct program, Cruz said... well I'm not sure what the hell he said, something about us not wanting to be Europe

Hmmm - was Ted Cruz a client of the DC Madame?

The former lawyer of the late DC Madame who ran a prostitute ring in DC, still has the phone records of all her clients in his possession. He's threatening to release the names because the list could influence the outcome of the election. He filed with the SCOTUS. He says he'll release the names in two weeks   :popcorn:

 
The latest poll from Wisconsin (Cruz 40, Trump 30, Kasich 21) could be a sign that this race is not over- maybe.

First: if Trump fails to win Wisconsin he will very likely go to the convention short of the amount of delegates he needs. However, that still shouldn't matter, because so long as the trends that have consisted in the GOP so far continue I can't see Trump not being given the nomination- I think that even many Trump opponents would believe it has been stolen from him under those circumstances. I just don't believe the GOP would ever choose to go down this road, UNLESS...

IF Trump not only loses Wisconsin, but if it's the beginning of a new trend: he loses California, New York, etc- then his loss of late momentum would give the GOP an out- then they could argue that, even though Trump has the majority of delegates, it's not enough.

That's how I see it, anyhow. But my crystal ball hasn't functioned too well in this current election cycle...

 
Any news on CA?

you were banging the drum that our primary system unfairly left CA irrelevant but the opposite is the case, it might be the decider.

That's true. Looks like this year, for once, we could make a difference. 

Latest polls show Trump ahead by 11 points but I think that was 2 weeks ago.

Donald took a break to recharge but he's back now.  Going forward, deal making will be equally important as the poll numbers.

I actually think they would, even if he does remain relatively strong the rest of the way.  They hate Cruz anyway.  Let him be the sacrificial lamb.  They'll lose this election and probably some seats in Congress but they'll get most of those back in the midterms.  Then they do their best to make sure Hillary doesn't succeed (they've had 8 years of practice), and then make another run in 2020.  By then it will be 12 years in a row of a Democrat president, and people will likely to want something different.  I can't image a status quo candidate like Hillary is going to shake things up enough to quell the anger that's out there. 

The other choice is Trump receiving the cheers at the Republican convention, getting whipped by Hillary during the debates, and months more of The Donald alienating everyone but (maybe) white males, which IMO will do far more lasting damage to the Republican brand.  They will take this from him by hook or by crook, IMO.

radio here in milwaukee was blastin the heck out of the old trumpmizer this morning they were on full attack walker is sort of conservative talk radios guy around here and el trumpo stepped in it by going after him if he wanted there support take that to the truth syrum bank bromigos

You know, in truth, that should probably be viewed as a good thing. How about no corporate sponsorships of anything to do with the electoral process and/or the elected government officials?

It's a bit of a mystery I agree. I'm not sure the parties or the networks are ready to go ethical. I guess the tv time is paid for somehow, not by the parties. Convention time has been scaled back in recent years anyway, but IMO as much as possible should be shown. Otoh someone has to pay for that.

 
what corporation would not want to support something in cleveland well the mysteries never stop this election cycle brohans take that to the bank

I thought we pay for it via watching ads and buying cable/satellite subscriptions. If people aren't watching it, then maybe it shouldn't be televised so much. But that's different from corporate sponsorship of the convention (or campaigns).

 
years ago i said this reality tv thing is stupid it is dumb and makes people dumb i mean who wants to watch a bunch of jagalopes be larooshes to eachother but bam it is all over and then it was naww brohans this look i am 15 and preggo thing will never work who wants to watch young lives being thrown off of track but phi slamma bamma it took off like hotcakes and now we have the same thing in a presidential election with guys going after wives using the enquirer as a legit pawn in it all and so on i guess the thing is that it shocks me but i do not know why every time i have said this is too far it has not been i guess i am glad i do not have a lot more time here to see it get even worse take that to the bank bromigos

i did not say it caused it but sure is emblamatic of where we are at it seems to be more fun to watch a train wreck these days than do a damned thing to increase the good and thats a fact jack take that to the bank

 
It's about time people realize that watching American politics is not that different than watching The Bachelor.  They are like peanut butter and jelly, two sides of the same sandwich.

Yeah he already had a challenge after losing OH. I don't think he can get to the 50% delegate threshold without CA and one of WI or PA.

WI isn't looking good. 

I disagree with the premise in the title that it was over. I think Trump's had most delegates in the bag for awhile now, but as long as 50% is in the air, the nomination is in the air.

The TV companies buy the rights to air the event. Companies pay to have commercials/branding during the broadcast so people see it and hopefully buy their product. The convention itself makes money to put on the event and pay their staff by selling the TV rights and other product placements at the event.

i like almost everyone and dont want to offend anyone else but if i do oh well you are the best poster on the boards by far dont ever change take that to the bank bromigo  :thumbup:
