I pretty much listen to 97.5 exclusively but right now they're killing me with NBA talk and the fantasies of Labron coming to the Sixers.  We have the Phillies near the top of the NL east and our SUPER BOWL CHAMPION! Eagles starting their camps and all I hear is NBA talk still.  Yeah the Sixers had a great run but enough now.  There was discussion this morning about how since the Eagles finally WON THE SUPER BOWL!, Philly's gonna somehow be a basketball town and we'll care less about football.

Oh I know why 97.5 pimps the Sixers.  They're just getting worse as the Sixers get better. I'm so sick of hearing about how/why Labron will come to Philly.  Damn it, there are other sports teams to talk about right now. The Phillies are what - within a game or 2 of first and you'd never know it.  I flip over to WIP occasionally, but I really can't stand Angelo for more than a few minutes.

Who the hell was the host? Also what drugs was he taking? Philly has always been a football town going back to the Penn Quaker National title days in the 1920s Baseball was still pretty big too with the phillies and A's (Mostly The A's then). I've always seen Philly more of a College B Ball city given all the great colleges. I see the NBA crowd more causal. I saw when the Sixers sucked more Jersey's of Whatever team Lebron was on and Wade or Kyrie and what ever popular players there was more then Sixers jerseys and if I saw a Sixers jersey they were mostly old school AI ones or Erving Jersey. A few times the unfortunate Evan Turner jersey or Okafor. For the most part I've always seen Eagles jerseys and Flyers Jerseys especially the Winter Classic ones and Phillies gear. I also use to see a lot of Union gear. Working in Retail for over 13 yrs you notice a lot of trends. I started the summer before the Eagles went to the SB in the summer of 05. Up until this year the last two yrs are the most I've seen anyone wear Sixers gear. I've seen more PSU gear then 76ers gear and even Nova gear and TU and St Joes etc. I have no idea what that person is thinking. Honestly it must be slow news week but after listening to Deranged Hermit and the stuff his buddy had told him I realized sports talk radio is nothing more then 98% of throwing crap up on a wall hoping something sticks. The Eagles would have to move out of the City to Alaska or Something for this city to ever have a chance as a pro basketball town. It's really hard for anyone to have a huge pro NBA following these days given that the newer generation shows more allegiance to the player then the team and end up just rooting for whatever team said player is on. The Sixers right now gained a bunch of what I like to Call The Lebron James Fans. Fans who are only fans of a team because of a certain player and in this case Ben Simmons. A lot of those fans if Simmons goes elsewhere will just go along with whatever team he'd end up on just like the Lebron crowd. You had people do the something for Durant and CP3. The younger Generation theres not a lot of loyalty to the team. Either way I don't want to side track the actual thread topic. Also 97.5 carries the Sixers so of coarse this topic is gonna come up. WIP you'll get more Phillies and Eagles talk. The Flyers get the #### end of the stick which sucks because I'm more of a hockey fan then a pro basketball fan.

Sports talk radio in general in this area is abysmal. It's sad given how big a sports town we are we only have two stations. I read a while ago and Tony Bruno Mentioned this on his own podcast maybe 2 yrs ago when he talked about his falling out at WIP and how the Innes rumors with him weren't true. He said there are smaller sports markets like Cleveland and others who have 4-5 sports talk radio stations and how Philly only has 2 where you can go to NY, LA, Dal etc the markets similar and they have 3-4 maybe 5 themselves. He said one of the main problems is WIP and 97.5 basically bought up the entire local market. Compared it to back in the old school Wrestling territory days of companies buying up territories.

I don't live in the area so have no knowledge of it, but I think what Noid is getting at is that 97.5 carries Sixers/Flyers games so it is in their best financial interest to have people more into the sixers/flyers than the eagles/phillies, hence why they're going to be biased and talk about those teams way more.

The problem with that is there is never any Flyers talk. Even when WIP carried the games hardly ever any flyers talk. Even when the Sixers were doing terrible there was more talk about other sports. The Flyers hockey wise get shafted in this town brutally. It's like they don't exist unless they are in the ECF and even when the Flyers were good there was hardly ever any talk. I think the most talk ever in this town radio wise for the Flyers at least since I was alive was Stanley Cup Finals against The Red Wings, Eric Lindros Saga, a few days of the longest playoff game ever vs the Penguins, Ed Snider death, Chris Pronger retirement. Other then that we hardly get hockey coverage. It's unfortunate the package I have for TV doesn't get the NHL network since ESPN doesn't do Hockey coverage and NBC is atrocious with theirs. The only time I really get any NHL coverage and it's more of just pieces is NHL Network when I'm at work.

Ya I used to be into it quite a bit. Originally grew up near Vancouver so grew up a Canucks fan and then got into the Flyers when my Philly obsession began. Football and Basketball quickly took over though in high school and I hardly follow hockey much anymore. Find the game so dull to watch compared to the other sports.  

 
And BTW, Marks and Reese are 100x better than anything on 97.5.  MIkey MIss is basically a gossip column ever since the "Chip should trade everything for Mariota" days.  Much more rational talk on 94.1

There used to be a ton of Flyers talk on 94  during the height of the Lindros years. But even then, the perception was that the Flyers fanbase was rich Main Line people and not “true” Philly sports fans.

Because the individual currently occupying the highest office in this great country is a racist, bigot and homophobe....to say the least. He also stuck his orange nose into the NFL last year and called for owners to fire those players who exercised their individual rights as Americans to protest what they felt were racial injustices. DJT doesn't deserve to have the world champions visit and quite frankly his congratulations mean absolutely squat when just a few months ago he was specifically asking for some of our players to be fired. You know, the ones that openly protested and also helped us win the title.

I don't really care if a single person agrees with me or not.

He tried to hard to become Howard Eskin. I didn't like Howard then but do I miss him now. Mikey also laughed at Victor Cruz destroying his knee and when people called him out on it he made a huge BS excuse. I also had a friend who wrote for a Philly blog who told Mikey about an error in one of his pieces on Jimmy Rollins Phillies Contract and Miss went on a drunk cursing tirade in an email exchange to him. Miss also lied about the Hamels Contract and talking to Hamels Agent. His agent talked to my buddy apparently after he put out a story thanking him and he told my friend that he never had any talks with Mikey Miss and he'd be one of the last people to get an exclusive. My friend sent the emails Miss sent to him to 97.5 and they never did a dam thing to the guy. Frankly if this happened now I think the radio station may have fired Mikey Miss. I don't know how the heck this guy has a job still

Those saying they should go and talk differences I guess didn't see the Parkland students invite Trump but he said he had more important things to do and went to Mar A Largo and ran like a ##### instead. The best way to deal with an egomaniac like Trump is to not acknowledge him at all.

I've started listening to them more on my drive home.  I'm almost 50/50 now between the 2 stations were a few months ago I was locked in to 97.5.

Oh, and more Labron talk this morning.  "What if he goes to Houston!?  GASP!"  Hey guys, the Phillies won again last night in St. Louis.  Half game out.

Jenkins said weeks ago he would go if there was a chance for meaningful talks, but the visit is just a glorified photo op.  And of course you're leaving out the fact that Jenkins has already made trips to DC and spoken with Congress regarding these issues.   :shrug:

Sorry wasn’t clear, that’s what I was trying to refer to. Regardless, glad the team is going and if they decide not to doesn’t really matter. Hope we are back next year too!

Maragos had surgery to repair a torn PCL in October. He's been setback-free in his rehab and looks on track for the start of camp. A core special teamer, Maragos is set to make $1.75 million in 2018.

Eagles MLB Jordan Hicks (Achilles) remains without a timetable to return.

Hicks is ahead of schedule, but his status for training camp is still up in the air. After missing the final nine games of 2017 and the entire postseason, the Eagles plan to move him slowly. Hicks has durability concerns, but should return to an every-down role when healthy.

Eagles LE Brandon Graham (ankle) is expected to report to the team's facility for the start of OTAs on Monday.

Graham won't actually practice—he underwent right ankle surgery on May 1 and remains in a walking boot—but it's a good sign that he plans on being around the team, even as he seeks an extension. The Eagles are hoping Graham will be ready for the start of training camp in two months. The 30-year-old defensive end is entering the final year of a four-year, $26 million contract.

Darren Sproles - RB - Eagles

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ Advanced Media said it would "not be surprising at all" if Darren Sproles led the Eagles in running back snaps this season.

He had been the Eagles' starter before his injury last year and even with Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement returning, Shorr-Parks still expects Sproles to occupy a major role in 2018. "The Eagles are not bringing him back for a feel-good story," said Shorr-Parks. "They are bringing him back because they plan on using him." The 34-year-old compiled 865 yards from scrimmage on 146 touches during the 2016 campaign and makes for a sensible late-round flyer in fantasy.

Donnel Pumphrey - RB - Eagles

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ Advance Media, Donnel Pumphrey faces an "uphill battle" to keep his Eagles roster spot.

He spent last season on injured reserve following a disappointing training camp. Pumphrey has reportedly bulked up since last year after weighing only 176 pounds as a rookie. That should help, though Pumphrey remains a long shot to keep his roster spot with Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement and Darren Sproles ahead of him on the team's running back depth chart.

I always see this statement formed in some way or another. The Parkland survivors tried to get Trump to a rally they had and so they can attempt to discuss issues they wanted and Trump told them he was too busy. Ran off to Mar A Largo instead. Basically left Rubio to the wolves and he got destroyed by not just Parkland students but by Parents along with Loesch being a total embarrassment. Trump would attempt to cancel the invite like he did with GS or try to change the topic. This is a guy you just can't reason with. Set in his ways. Talking to him as much as it's a good idea won't work. His own care takers who are trying to make sure he doesn't start WW3 can't even control him so what makes people think he'd listen to athletes he called SOB's and said should be fired for protesting? Honestly I never got what the whole ordeal visiting the White House was about. Seems more like just a cool thing and the President gets a free photo op. Nothing more.

I wish both the best but after meeting Maragos its hard for me to see such a great guy to go through this. Maragos was great with everyone at my store and so great with the kids. My Co workers son is his assistant DB coach and his eyes lit up when I asked about him. There was a little kid there who you could tell wasn't functioning right and had some sort of disability. Chris took the jersey off his back he was wearing, signed it along with taking a photo and signing that and giving it to the child. There wasn't too many dry eyes around who saw this gesture.

Just keeps on getting better. He's already sidelined with a broken foot and he's driving while intoxicated? Meanwhile the other WR thinks he's Eminem. Maybe the team needs to have their players get their priorities straight. No wonder Dez left. Poor guy
