*Official 2018 Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles* - Tough way to go out. Magic finally gone. (3 Viewers)

So you posted making fun of Jones because he said he thinks his team can compete with the mighty Eagles. How dare he say that...right?

Then I ask you " what's he supposed to say in week one of the season?", and your reply is some weird #### about him and young girls?? Really?

How about you answer the question?
Unfortunately I have to agree here.  I'm assuming he didn't just go and make that quote without being asked a question.  I think he'd be blasted even more if he said "I'm not sure if we can compete with the Eagles this year".  He said what he had to say, and I think anyone in that situation would say 'I think we can compete with anyone this year".  Nothing wrong with what he said.

ok, we got to wrap this up bud because we are clogging the thread. You want me honest answer? i don't give an F what Jones says. Sure, he can talk his team up great. I am sure the Browns and Bucs probably do the same. You want to drink the kool aid and believe him, great. Easier way to live optimistically and thinking there is always a chance. Just not for me i guess.

How about he just acts like the other 80% of the owners, and just doesn't say anything? Does Lurie need to come out and make a statement to artificially inflate his team? Maybe Jones's does based on the Cowboys' fan-base, so maybe there is something to it. If the Eagles were not a good team, and 8-8 would be a "good" year for them, i would prefer that Lurie not say anything and if he did talk about if the team is rebuilding or what the team needs to get better. Seems like common sense to me. Sure he can lie to everyone and talk about "any given Sunday" crap, and that the world is rainbows and unicorns, but maybe i just prefer to live in reality.

Why doesn't Jones talk about how the Earl Thomas attempts went? talk about why fans should be positive about the team? I mean please tell me which team in the NFL has a weaker WR/TE unit? that is a big question for you.... i honestly don't think there is one. SO there is your answer, if Jones needs to speak please be honest about the team, and discuss some of these manners. Or better yet, don't speak at all
You don't give an F what Jones says?

That's hard to believe because you decided to post a quote from Jones in the Eagles thread.

Anyway, you seem triggered. Hope you're ok bud

Per Twitter:

Source: Eagles signing WR Braxton Miller, pending a physical
hmm, interesting choice. will be tempted to see if he can do anything. Practice squad players able to practice with the team throughout the year? i remember when they talked about Mailata and they didn't want to sign him to practice squad so he can get in more work with the team

Yes. They didn’t want to try to put Mailata on the PS because another team would likely have claimed him for their 53-man roster.
yeah i heard that part too, but thouht there was some restrictions about practicing with the team on the PS squad. i like it though, reports were he has been good in camp

Sigh. We won the Super Bowl. Cowboy talk is irrelevant now. We don't need to compare anymore.
you guys aren't getting soft on me are you? you really going to make me be the only one to throw snowballs cause Santa sucks??

Is the Miller signing a hedge for prep vs Houston? It’s a ways off but DP took time in his post game speech to thank the PS guys for their help in game preparation. This angle wouldn’t surprise me in the least.

to be honest, i think people in here are underestimating the Skins in here. they had a ton of injuries last year (might have been a point in the season last year when they had 4/5 of their OL out). i think that is what really held them back. here is an article that touches on it (had to make sure i was remembering correctly:  https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/want-hear-something-ridiculous-add-amount-salaries-redskins-injured-reserve)

and maybe i am giving them too much credit, but i have a hard time not helping the Skins out, and have a tough time letting them fall under .500.

ETA: another article: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/injury-ridden-redskins-are-running-out-of-options/2017/10/30/fb073d0e-bd97-11e7-959c-fe2b598d8c00_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.870bda144f8f

and yeah i am happy to talk more Eagles, but next Sunday is sooooooo far away now. And it is the Bucs, don't want to underestimate any team or think the Eagles have it in the bag, but Christ if they lose to the Bucs i don't know what i will think
Still sticking by my thoughts on the Skins aren't an easy 2 wins. yes it was Sammy B., but i think if they stay healthy they are legit

Cowboys really do suck and Dak looked terrible.

so happy to see it whil the Eagles are set up nicely in the next three weeks before a big one with the Vikings.

Getting excited to see the new banner, anyone else going tonight?
Well, that was something.  My in-laws (Wife's father, sister, brother, and their son) were also going and they were driving because my FIL isn't getting around as well anymore and they wanted to park in the handicap lot to make it easier for him.  My son wanted to go with them so he could hang out with his cousin on the way there and back.  So for the first time in several years we drove in and parked instead of taking the Broad Street line from Fern Rock... big mistake.

As I'm sure you know, the home opener draws a lot more people the the area and lots who just hang out and tailgate through the whole game.  I'd guess 2-3x the normal traffic?  Well, the home opener after a Superbowl turned out to be 2-3x that,  We are about 1 to 1.5 hours away and left at 4:00.  It took us 1.5 to 2 hours just to get in the vicinity of the stadium.  Probably almost an hour to get to the lot with handicap parking just to be told all the handicapped spots have been full for two hours.  So we dropped my father in law and sister in law and searched for parking.  Half an hour or so later we found a single handicapped spot in a sea of cars a half mile or so away at Philabundance and used the HC tag there.  Not sure much further we would have had to go without the tag.

After the game my BIL and I walked back to the car to bring it back and pick up the rest.  All streets blocked and not allowing any traffic to go towards the stadium.  I had to explain to about 6-8 cops, one at each blockade, our dilemma but fortunately each one let us through to get back.  At one point we were the only car stopped on the side of the road to pick up our family and a police bike motorcade with the Falcons bus went by us wondering why we were stopped there.  So at least we got to wave to the Falcons on their way out.  We pulled into our driveway at 2:30 AM.  (The weather delay that screwed up the banner reveal didn't help there much either)  My 10 yo still made it to school the next morning but I can't say how useful he was that day.  We had his fantasy draft at our place that night and he passed out pretty hard once his friends were gone.  I'm never driving in and trying to park there again until my kids are old enough to drink and we hang out and tailgate all day... so maybe 2029.

Anyway, the first half was a typical Thursday night sloppy snoozefest except for the Falcons constantly being in our redzone.  "Hours of boredom interrupted by moments of sheer terror" or something like that.  So the first half wasn't that exciting and the fans were feeling it.  The modified Philly Special was a great call: A. because it worked & 2. because it got the crowd back into it.  Things picked up after that and the goalline stand at the end of the game was right under us in our endzone and one of those things that will be a pretty memorable moment for a long time, glad we were there for it and my kid stayed awake the whole time.

My kids still remain undefeated at Eagles games!  I think we're up to around 10 games at this point.

Sounds brutal.  I’m the opposite-usually drive in and tailgate as long as possible after the game.  But I worked until 5 and driving from Manayunk into the stadiums at that hour was a non starter.  Ended up parking at Broad and Spring Garden and taking broad line in.

Parking lot was intense as was the walk up.  Delay sucked and I remember remarking to a couple of my buddies that he extra hour of drinking on the concourse while waiting for the game to start was going to mean ####-show by third quarter.  Sure enough there were four fights in front of us in the span of 30 minutes lol.

My head hit the pillow as the clock ticked over to 2am.  Worthless the next day but freaking awesome experience and totally worth it

Tampa definitely looked better than anyone thought they would.  Their defense looked awful though and it should be a nice game to get Foles back on track and in the groove again.  Could see us putting up quite a few points.  As for their offense, our D is about 100X better than New Orleans' so I doubt they'll be dropping 48 on us.  They could surprise though if Fitz stays hot.  Love that we have 10 days rest and prep for this game.

27-17 Philly.

I think our D should be able to corral the force that is Fitzmagic.  Saints D is much worse than expected.

24-10 Birds.

Being a perennial believer in Fitzmagic, I know Full well that it usually doesn't show up in back to back games.

Our history against Tampa Bay doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy about this game.

  • The double whammy in 2003 with the NFC Championship game and Joe Jurevicius to close out the Vet January and then Linc season opener in September where they shut us out.
  • The 2006 game we lost in Tampa on the last-second 65-yard Matt Bryan field goal.
  • The last time we played them, in 2015, they came into Philly and whipped us 45-17 during the Chip Kelly death spiral.
I can see this being a battle of two high-variance QBs, where both bring their Z game, and we lose something like 10-3.

That's the old norm.

Well, we don't have Bill Davis at DC with Byron Maxwell and Nolan Carroll locking down their WR's, so I think it'll be a different result.  Mark Sanchez's 3 INT's didn't help the cause either.

You guys aint freaking losing to Tampa bay......fitz shot his wad last week...

Dak didn't even look like an AVG QB out there. I've been saying before the draft this guy needs to be in the most right situation to even be a good QB. He had everything going besides the defense his first year. Once Dak lost guys on offense he looked like a completely different QB and not in a good way. Honestly if you think this clown is better then Carson Wentz at this point you are on some amazing drugs or should be locked in a hospital with padded walls.

Leaving out 2012 when Foles led them to victory in the game where he drew up a "schoolyard play" in the huddle or something at one point.  apparently the first and only time in his life that he has improvised something.

Looks like that was Andy's last win in Philadelphia, also.

I think with how average Foles played last game, and with 10 games rest/preparation, and vs a much worse defense, Foles and the offense is going to click and look much better.  Stickin with 27-17.

So a reporter during Dougie Fresh's PC today mentions Chris Collinsworth reported Bennet not being happy with his role and if MB has said anything to them. Doug basically laughed the report off and said Bennet has yet to say anything to them. There's CC trying to stir the pot. Probably still salty over the SB

Also Darren Sproles has a hammy injury. Said if Sproles can't go they have Clement and others to handle PR/KR duties. Will be evaluated all week.

So got to work today and saw my schedule. Working Sunday 1-6? Uh yeah sorry that's  not happening. I don't usually close my department because 1 I hate working nights and 2 I'm usually if I did close at times would be working early the next morning which with my Aspergers is a disaster waiting to happen that sort of schedule. I think there was confusion with my manager who does scheduling and I. 2 Weeks ago he asked if I could work Sunday I thought he meant The Sunday that past the 8th but now I think he meant this Sunday. I got the schedule for the current week and wasn't working Sun so I said I guess they didn't need me and figured well given what I'd have to work on Sunday I won't be working this coming Sunday since its during the game and they know better without asking me. So a coworker of mine is closing Sunday but he hates closing Sundays as he misses his favorite show and doesn't like watching it after it happens. So we decided Id close and he'd work the earlier shift. I still have to be at work by 4 but either way I see almost the full game and if it's a blow out I wouldn't care about the last QTR. I just need to moderate what I can drink during the game this week. I think working Beer and Wine it's frowned upon I showed up drunk to work....

Some friends I have. Found out a bunch of them two separate groups were going down to Tampa for the game and headed down yesterday. 2 of them former co workers I'm close with. Some friends  :wall:
