Things I found interesting today at #Bills practice:

  • Cody Ford has his best practice that I’ve seen thus far working against Trent Murphy
  • CB Kevin Johnson working at nickel CB with the twos
  • The top three RBs, firmly, are McCoy, Gore and Singletary as of today

#Browns CB Terrance Mitchell working with first team today and rookie Greedy Williams is with the twos. Greedy had been with the ones in the spring. A competition to watch, though I like Greedy’s chances based on his progress throughout OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

Greedy Williams’ with second pick of the day, this one in red zone on ball intended for Odell.👀

Ravens Training Camp: Observations 7/26

The second day of training camp featured a significantly faster tempo throughout practice. The pace seemed to benefit Lamar Jackson, his passes were crisp with tight spirals. His emphasis on footwork was evident, Lamar was spraying bullets around the field. Backup quarterback Robert Griffin III showed off a live arm as well.

Mark Andrews was an absolute ball magnet on Friday, he was seemingly targeted on every repetition he took. All of the tight ends were peppered with targets in team drills. Versatile two-way contributor Patrick Ricard worked at tight end and rookie receiving tight end Charles Scarff was heavily involved.

Although Orlando Brown Jr. and Jermaine Eluemunor were dressed and participating, James Hurst and Ben Powers received the majority of the work with the first unit. Powers impressed with some seal blocks in the run game. Eluemunor’s foot quickness seemed improved in position drills. At center, Bradley Bozeman filled in during Matt Skura’s excused absence, behind him Randin Crecelius struggled snapping the ball.

Jaleel Scott turned in a tremendous practice. On his highlight play, he went up and ‘moss’ed’ Stanley Jean-Baptiste to haul in a contested catch deep down the sideline. Scott made several tough catches on Friday and has been refining his route running. Seth Roberts primarily served as an outside receiver and looks the part with a nice combination of size and speed. Roberts secured perhaps the only completed pass of the day against Marlon Humphrey and also caught a rare completion underneath Jimmy Smith’s coverage.

Veteran Michael Floyd is not necessarily fast, but does possess decent build-up speed. When covered, he knows how to use leverage to outmuscle defenders at the catch point. Chris Moorehas been slightly out of sync with Lamar so far and Jordan Lasley’s hands remain inconsistent.

It is difficult to glean much for the running backs until the pads come on. Nonetheless, Tyler Ervinshowed off excellent burst between the tackles and an extra gear when returning kickoffs. Gus Edwards is in terrific shape and consistently hits the hole hard. Justice Hill was a catch and run weapon out of the backfield, De’Lance Turner also made some plays as a receiver, and Kenneth Dixon showed off some quick jump cuts.

On defense, the groupings were mostly unchanged from Thursday. While Humphrey and Jimmy Smith were at cornerback, Brandon Carr did some cross training at free safety. For the second day in a row, rookie Iman Marshall broke up an accurate pass. Patrick Onwuasor also batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage and Anthony Averett had a PBU downfield.

Chris Board continues to work on his run fits as a first team inside linebacker. Potential backup Matthew Thomas brings sideline to sideline range against the run. UDFA Otaro Alaka also fared well in his limited opportunity.

The edge rushers were disruptive in 11-ons. Matthew Judon and Tim Williams collapsed the pocket off the right side. Then Shane Ray disrupted the next play off left tackle. Towards the end of practice Tyus Bowser ‘sacked’ Lamar Jackson.

Up front, UDFA Gerald Willis knifed into the backfield on several occasions. Conversely, Chris Wormley appears a bit slow off the ball. The defensive line battle will begin to take shape during the first padded practice on Saturday night at M&T Bank stadium.

1-on-1 drills with WRs and DBs going on now. When it comes to the quick change of direction routes:

Diggs and Thielen are in a class of their own.

Beebe isn't too far behind.

Then it's everyone else.

Treadwell made a great catch on the sideline, albeit with no separation.

Replying to @IvanCarter9

Beebe has been taking many reps at WR3 and I think he's going to be a bigger part of the offense. And thanks for always checking my stuff out!

Zaleski Keefer @zkeefer

Few thoughts after 2 days of camp:

» Colts are gonna have a really tough time winnowing down this WR group. Way more depth (spots 5, 6, 7) than they've had in years. Don't forget Rogers, Pascal, Johnson.

» Luck looked really sharp. 9-for-9 in 7v7 work.

Zaleski Keefer @zkeefer

» Jalen Collins continues to impress. He's feeling good, too. This is the chance he wanted.

» Parris Campbell had a busy day + caught a bunch. Will start out in slot and gradually move out wide. Colts don't want to limit him just inside. Reich: "We never saw a gadget WR..."

Dexter Williams saw snaps with the first-string offense on Saturday.

Jamaal Williams (hamstring) is banged up, so Williams operated behind Aaron Jones. Williams was the 194th pick in the 2019 draft and put up good numbers at the combine with a 4.57 40-yard time. He's just someone to keep an eye on if the Packers have depth issues during the season, or as a possible deep dynasty lotto ticket.

MassLive.com's Andrew Callahan reports Patriots WR Maurice Harris has been the best wideout in camp by a "decent margin."

Callahan is just the latest member of the Patriots press corps to praise the ex-Redskin. Despite his 6-foot-3 frame, Harris has a slot skill-set, which fits perfectly with the offense Tom Brady must execute as a 42-year-old. Early camp hype should always be taken with a grain of salt — especially in New England — but Harris was intriguing the day he signed, and is even more so now. He is someone to keep an eye on this summer.

Raiders OC Greg Olson is "really excited" about fifth-round WR Hunter Renfrow.

Renfrow is more experienced and older than just about any rookie in the NFL, so it's not overly surprising to see him showing well in camp. But Renfrow's overall ceiling is low, even in dynasty leagues, since he's a below-average athlete on a below-average offense. Most of Renfrow's fantasy value will come in preseason DFS where he should get extended looks in the slot.
