Tight end is a vexing problem
With Tyler Kroft possibly unavailable until after the regular season starts, Jason Croom sidelined since the first day of camp with a hamstring injury, and rookie Dawson Knox hurting his hamstring Saturday, the Bills have some problems at tight end.
It’s uncertain when Croom and Knox can return, so even though the Bills still have four tight ends to trot out in Lee Smith, Tommy Sweeney, Nate Becker and Keith Towbridge, they signed Kyle Carter Monday. To make room on the roster, linebacker Juwan Foggie was waived.
Carter was on the Bills' practice squad briefly in 2018. He has also spent time with the Vikings, Giants and Seahawks.
Knox has been building a resume since the spring, and it would be a shame if he gets derailed. “He was doing a really good job for us and unfortunately tweaked a little hammy, but I (told him) he’ll be back before you know it and you just have to stay ready mentally, so I have no doubt that he’ll do that,” said quarterback Josh Allen.
