****OFFICIAL 2021-22 FBG Playoff Subscriber Contest**** (1 Viewer)

It's entirely possible I missed something, but I did look around and is FBG not doing the playoff subscriber contest this season?  There was one last season (and every other year I've been a subscriber), and I didn't see any announcement that they were ending it.

I really enjoyed it in years past, and it keeps me interested (and invested) for most of the playoffs, regardless of results.

My apologies if this was already addressed elsewhere.

Agree with the above -- I recall that the majority of years, it came out on Wednesday.

Crossing my fingers as well that they continue it.  It's my favorite part of the playoffs!

semi-related

anyone heard anything about the playoff draft tool?

the one where it's an excel download and you can play around and pick which teams you think will win - and then it adjusts rankings based on how many games your picks have them playing

The link is there in Wk.19 Season Long, ready to go.

That link appears to go to the regular season contest.

Normally it comes out the Wed of 1st playoff week, although last year it came out on Thursday.

The link I mentioned but did not provide is for the playoff Excel download that Binky inquired about, thus why I quoted him. Otherwise no, I haven't seen the playoff subscriber contest link yet.

Ah this is where the RIF (Reading is Fundamental) part of my learning needs to improve...LOL, sorry for the mix-up!

Hi Folks. We’re doing this again this year as a bonus. Like last year, should be up on Thursday. It’s a super fun way to say thanks to the folks that subscribed and throw a little bit of cash out there as well.

like the $35,000 subscriber contest for the season long, every person who bought a premium subscription this year gets one free entry.

In addition to the contest we offer that is free for Premium subscribers, everyone should grab some teams in the Footballguys Playoff Challenge. https://myffpc.com/cms/public/play/footballguys-playoff-challenge/

It's just $35 per team and has $100,000 Grand Prize. We sold out early last year and we're on pace for the same thing this year so don't miss out.

So take your shot at our free contest if you're a premium subscriber, then grab some teams in the big contest. Good luck.

Sure wish my state would allow me to play!

Thank you Joe.

Can anyone find last year's thread (I can’t) so I can get a sense of some of the rosters submitted, and especially the one that won it all. I’m literally closing my eyes and throwing darts on this one :)

I had trouble as well, but went into my activity log in my profile and found it when I had commented. Took a bit but if you scroll up you will see the start of the original thread.

How many points are we targeting for round one?
Given half the entries are cut week 1 and every week after who knows:

"The weekly cutoffs are as follows:

Wildcard week: 50% of entries will advance to the next week
Divisional week: 50% of remaining entries will advance to the next week
Championship week: 50% of remaining entries will advance to the next week"

What he's asking contains an implicit question.  That is, based on past experience, how many entrants do we think won't understand what's necessary to put together an entry to compete in the Super Bowl, and instead spread their players out, thereby inflating the cutoff of the first week (or two).

What I'm inferring is this year is completely different cut off wise than previous years - before we had numbers trimmed and even some initial weeks everyone survived. Now with 50% each week getting cut, you can't afford to get cute, much like this regular season, you had to be built for comfort not speed so you lasted till the end.

So a my 2c means a larger roster with more hands in the pot may be needed this year in this contest....I think we will have higher than before cutoffs to trim that 50% out...

Thanks.  Only two teams with byes, instead of four, also makes this year different than past years.

Yes very much, do you swing for the fences with a smaller roster and hope you make it there, or do you play safe sacrificing some ending firepower just to get there....its a pretty challenging contest this year!

Thesis: the more aggressive cutdowns and fewer bye teams imply the SB roster spending needs to be less than prior years.

However, this isn't necessarily valuable intel as I see quite a broad variation in historical SB roster spend across years and across high finishing rosters.

But the thesis will at least allow me to avoid excessive iteration churn.

Holding firm on second iteration....

And for the prizes, we're doing $1,000 for the top prize.

My accountants yell at me for spending money on this but it's our way to say thanks to the folks who buy a Premium Subscription and make Footballguys (and this forum) possible.

Tell your beaners that I don't play enough FF to justify paying for advice.  Tell your beaners that I subscribe each year because...

1)  You provide free message boards that are very valuable,

2) I have enough fun playing your two subscriber contests to justify the subscription.

3) You're a stand up guy who's business deserves support and we appreciate what you do.

If someone was able to get to past results, we could establish where a 50% historical falls.  Obviously going from 4 to 2 bye teams will inflate the number, but at least we would have a starting point.

Thanks Joe - been a part of FBG's as a subscriber and Shark Pool Lurker for years and honestly if my bosses ever found out how much time I spend during FF season (and for the most part of the off-season) enjoying your product I would be pretty hot water....lol!

Not sure we can, every time I looked up previous contests entries this year it went to a broken link - I think it had to do with the new website so much of that historical stuff disappeared. Maybe I was just looking in the wrong area but like the Regular Season contest this is kinda going on blind luck at this point...lol!

Thank you GB. You're kind.

I'm having difficult last years content.  Looks like FBG dropped the year from their urls on many of the pages.

I could do some digging into old threads tonights.  I seem to remember targetting 85 points last year for week one.

I found this in the last post of last year's thread by @TheWinz

"Weekly cuts were 105.7, 112.15, and 122.35."

Other info I gleaned - We started with 6156 and the cuts were to 4K, 2K and 1K

So I would assume and my math game is totally NOT on point - if we went from 4K to 2K (50%) in week 2 and it took a min of 112.15 to do it then I would assume with week 1 you need to be near that to advance. With no golden pass if not enough entrants you have to shell out to get through round 1.

The way I have set up my roster I'm looking at roughly 136 points in the FBG Projections with 10 players counting round 1 so I'm happy with that rough figure.
