***Official 2025 Pro Cycling Thread*** - This year a Grand Prize!!! (1 Viewer)

I guess they officially announced the Tour's final stage will go up Montemarte 3 times. Should be interesting even if the yellow is decided, many of the other places could still be up for grabs.

4 minute video gives the best quick explanation I’ve seen about team tactics.

WvA Stage 12 leadout

they had a little trouble getting Olav to the front in the last 5 km but once he was there it was inevitable

Stage 13 looks like a punchers ride, but I'm wondering if Mads takes it or sets it up for Vacek

:lmao:

Every time I start feeling confident I go look at the Top 200. 1700+ behind the leader & 600+ points out of 200th place.

my final day of glory

mountain stages begin tomorrow and I need Rubio + Storer to repeat their magical 3rd rides of 2024

super unlikely as Roglič comes out of his rope-a-dope and UAE will burn up riders to stop him

2 leader strategy? 4 leader strategy? do we have a plan, guys?

Anyway...Stage 14....little over 50 km done, 140ish to go, flat as a Head East album, it's raining, and another uninspiring early break has formed

Whoa. Missed today's stage. Will have to go back and re-watch.

**** move by Del Toro taking advantage of a crash to pad his lead?

Not really - chase group he was in was had a half dozen top 15 GC riders + the 3 best sprinters

Next group were all guys who were in or behind the crash

There was ~ 20 km to go when the crash happened

What do you think he should he have done?

Unfortunate for Ayuso Bernal Roglič (+ Ciccone & Tiberi) but it's just bad luck, stuff like that happens

Doesn't seem like the place for organizers to neutralize and with other strong GC riders in his group, nothing to do but ride on

**** move by Del Toro taking advantage of a crash to pad his lead?
Why? Carapaz and Yates were both there and Visma were the ones driving it. He had to stay there. Was it ****ting for Visma, I guess maybe, but they were drilling it even before that trying to close the gap for Kooij.

I do think if these Tours are going to more circuits for non-mountain stages, they need to plan some of the routes better. I get that pinch points are a thing, but if that was a classics race, there wouldn't be a peloton trying to get through those cobbles 20 kms from the finish and if you are going to have pinch points then there needs to be a strung out peloton. I like the mini-crit circuits, but they need to get the peloton strung out or have wider turns.

That being said, it's also obvious Del Torre has a phenominal natural ability to know where to be and how to bike handle (much more so than Ayuso). We'll see if he has the lungs for the mountains. I know I'll jinx him, but Carapaz looks really podium worthy and EF has done a phenomial job all tour getting him into the right spots at the right times even with a limited roster.

BTW, loved that Asgreen showed up for the stage in an aero helmet. Telegraphed it and pulled it off.

heard someone say there were no breakaway specialists anymore

I wasn't betting on the break when it was 1:30 with 40 km to go
