Jonas couldn’t get on the big ring today

freaking SRAM
wait, seriously?

that’s what the VLaB Sport Director said post race but now I think he was blowing smoke

he was only 11 seconds down at T1 lost way more time on the 2nd half

per X

Jonas Vingegaard: "I can be pretty satisfied, Remco is just the best rider in the world. Losing 21" on him is pretty decent. I didn't have any mechanical problems. Maybe I should have taken a bigger chainring, but it wouldn't have changed much I think."

Remco did the climb 5 seconds faster than Tadej & Matteo per Strava which is really surprising

I thought Pogi was a little loose descending, hit a manhole cover that caused a wobble & had to sit up to check his chain

I am taking off on a week-long bike trip tomorrow, and tossed together the quickest lineup ever for this one. I put next to no thought into it which means I have either the worst or best team ever - lol
Casual mention of this without mentioning destination or equipment is a serious crime in here, fella.

This is the wrong thread for it, but I'm riding the C&O and GAP from DC to Pittsburgh 😉

I'll post something about it in the bicycle thread.

Doing that with the wife in September. Starting in Pittsburgh, though.

Brits… Jake Schtert? Szczrt? No, it’s Stewart, with is somehow one syllable.

Heckuva week

won the bunch sprint for 5th in Stage 1 (Big 4 took all the top spots), and the biggest win of his career today

Milan had the entire team working to bring him back to the front in the final 30 km and he had at least three teammates with him when went around the final roundabout

Stewart didn’t launch until around 250 m. Not sure what happened but he came out of MvdP’s wheel and just flew by JM, that was a classic closer mover

with 700 m left I thought it was over, Trek could not have been in better position

1,3,4,8. In GC. Same 4 are top 10 in the stage. Not bad. Gonna need Martinez to visit the dr in the night. And they better X-ray pogi with his bike.
I sort of wonder what is up with his TT, he should be dominating there as well. My guess is once he gets the others in their red, his top sustained power is greater than theirs, but they have higher sustained power not popped.

Luckily for Jonas, there isn't really a stage profile like this with a launching pad at the bottom of the climb in the Tour. For instance, Hautacam's steepest grades are in the middle. Maybe Visma can control better at the Tour with bigger firepower with Wout and Yates, but even on Hautacam, UAE will be able to have an incredibly high pace up to those steep sections with whatever lineup they bring.

SCRUBS! how dare you!!!! 😂

Wow, catching up on today. Evenepoel, Jorgenson, Lipowitz, Vingegaard are such good riders, but Pogacar is inhuman.

Gold helmet question... does Remco get to wear it for 4 years? And is Faulkner also wearing gold?

Can someone please explain pay for braodcast rights to these cycling events and then doesn't broadcast them? Coverage starts in 35 mins and the event will be half over.

Pogi just out for his lazy Saturday coffee ride. His biggest issue seems to be he thinks the Colnago TT bike sucks. I wonder if they're going to black label something for the Tour.

Romain Bardet FTW?

Last race of a pretty good career. Rode for Ag2r 2012-20 and Team Picnic PostNL (neé DSM) 2021-25.

Good climber and top descender, been part of the GC contenders for more than a decade.

His best results have primarily come on home soil. He won a total of four stages in the Tour de France in four separate years, running from 2015 to 2017 and then in 2024; he placed in the top ten overall for five consecutive years (from 2014 to 2018) and finished on the podium twice: second overall in 2016 and third overall in 2017. He has also worn the Young rider classification jersey, and won the Mountains classification jersey in 2019 as well as the overall Combativity Award in 2015.

Outside of France, he won a stage at the 2021 Vuelta a España, and won the general classification at the 2022 Tour of the Alps.
