***Official 2025 Tour de France*** - Come Dope with Us! This Year Prizes!!! (6 Viewers)

The other thing is if MvdP and Tadej ride off in one of these stages, Tadej has every incentive to ride with MdvP and give the stage to MdvP unlike some of the regular classics. It's possible (if they are in great form) those two win half the stages this year.
This is looney tunes.

Yet again, I've proven (with ample evidence) to be a moron when it comes to these things.

I think Tadej has 17 TdF stage wins since 2020.

MvdP has 2 GT stage wins (1 TdF) in his career.

Which is not meant to disparage the Dutchman. I’ve never quite understood why his lack of GT focus is a pejorative. Does anyone ever say Pogi is incomplete as a rider because he hasn’t won on gravel or doesn’t ride cyclocross? Of course not.

His place is history and his placement as one of the best cyclist of this generation is secure. 8 Monuments, the only rider in cycling history to be Men's World Champion in three different cycling disciplines, been part of some of the greatest rivalries in the past decade.

All that said, Week 1 does look pretty juicy for Mathieu.
MvDP is best when he can simply empty the tank and not worry about tomorrow. He's proven he's the best in the world right now when that's in play. Obviously not the case in the GTs, and he is typically is in a support role where he has to do team stuff - it shows. Wout seems to be able to go again and again a bit better than Mathieu.

When I had him on my team a few years ago, he was doing training intervals during stages to prepare for the Glasgow Worlds (which he won.) He launched Philipsen 4x to stage wins, simply awesome leadouts, but did nothing in Velogames (165 points.)

I know, I know, it’s different this year.

I have a team in but it feels uninformed. I’m hoping for an hour at the pub tomorrow to read up and dial in.
I've told my wife to keep me away from the computer. I've mucked with it way too much. I have found this year to be way tougher than others in assembling something.

Don't worry, I'll suck bad, as usual. Fade everyone I've picked.

Just realized we are up to 12 players. Oh, wait.....Bass has two teams, so it's the usual suspects, Chemical X + one random.

Boy, that "Come dope with us' marketing campaign was a home run. WTG, @DA RAIDERS, 22.22% growth.

Make it simple, but significant.

I had a tough time not focusing too much on week one points. I was going back and forth between that and overall points. Pretty sure I settled on the worst possible scenario of minimal points with either option.

But I'm going to blame that on all the DNFs I will inevitably get.;)

Ow Do Cycling podcast - who is on my Velogames team
He and I like some of the same people. He influenced me to choose 2 guys. But one will go in my next tweak…

he has 6 guys I used in different builds but ultimately only 2 in common with my final team

really I think 7-8 of his picks are fine

he’s finished Top 100 in a few GTs but I beat him the Giro - knowledgeable guy but just a cycling fan like the rest of us

OK, here's the setup for prizes.

I just went to check this out and Velogames already has me in last place.

MF'er!
I was middle of the pack and then I moved up to 2nd!! Not sure where I am today

I'm more excited for this than the Super Bowl. Let's hope for no major crashes and we finally get battle between Pogi, Jonas, Roglic, and Remco. Lots of heavy artillery here. Hopefully GC guys 10-20 attempt to get in the break before the 4 horseman put a couple of minutes into them on the first TT.

Still six minutes left to screw up your teams

My bad - 7:40 EDT start, 7:15 deadline - still 40 minutes for those last minute tweaks.

You can make unlimited rider transfers up until the entry deadline of 13:15 CEST (Central European Summer Time) on Saturday 5th July 2025.

AI generated an amazing team right out of the gate.

This lineup balances heavy climbing strength and punch with solid sprinting and unclassed value, hitting exactly 100 credits, and maximizing the chance to score big against many teams.

Me - That's 106, what is confusing you about the math?

You're right — sorry about that. Let's do the math together carefully.
Sum:
32 + 14 = 46
46 + 8 = 54
54 + 10 = 64
64 + 8 = 72
72 + 10 = 82
82 + 10 = 92
92 + 8 = 100
100 + 6 = 106

Yep, total 106 credits, over budget by 6.

From there we got the math on target but then it was fight teaching it that one sprinter didn't mean two sprinters and 4 all rounders / punchers wasn't an option. Softgate may want to ask for the 40 billion dollars back.

The plus side is that the whole exercise kept me from tinkering with my team.

Wifey & I watched the fireworks from a wealthy friend’s apartment located in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The launch barges were directly in front of us. I retreated inside after 5-10 minutes because PTSD sucks but was still an awesome show. Got home about 5 hours ago.

We had some musician friends (married couple) there, so our friend took them over to tour Ed Sheeran’s former place (he sold a couple months ago, our friend is friends with the new owners.) That apartment is a 5-bedroom, 3-story penthouse with its own full floor private roof deck, double height LR with a wall of windows facing the harbor, fancy euro appliance brands I’d never heard of, et al.

Our friends had just enough room on their modest balcony to accommodate most of the 16 guests (a few of the teenage kids watched from one floor below.) Their apartment is the nicest place I’ve ever been in - and cost about 1/5th of Sheeran’s pad.

Monopoly money, can’t fathom their life (other homes in the Hamptons and West Palm Beach.) He’s an investment manager with most of his clients in Dubai, she’s a lawyer, 17 y.o. kid has a FIDE rating over 2K. But they’re such a kind, gentle family and about the most generous folks I’ve ever known. Billionaires are pure evil but deca- and centi- millionaires seem tolerable.
