Smash Bros. is coming probably last... I'm super excited about that.
But I can't see anything 'cuz their site doesn't work at my job...
The thing is that they can fund whole systems based on those base Nintendo franchises, and it doesn't look like that is ever going to end.
But they have created some new things that worked. Pikmin and Animal Crossing are both pretty decent (Pikmin I've played and like, Animal Crossing i have no idea on). They still have Fire Emblem and the Wars series.
And they just announced Mega Man was gonna be in the new Smash Bros., so that's cool
If it isn't broke, why fix it?

get back to me when someone other than Nintendo is making a profit. Even with bad sales, Nintendo is still making money, companies that make money don't go under.
Microsoft and Sony are both, typically, losing money on video games and subsidizing this with all of their other things.
I'm not worried about Nintendo going under.
Nintendo has been a company for like 120 years now, they posted the first loss for a year in the history of their company in 2011. EVER.For the 2011 fiscal year (April 2011 through March 2012), Nintendo posted a historic first-ever net loss of $530 million dollars.

The model is sound though. What they need to do is get better 3rd party titles. They have a built in base of software to attract a wide range with the familiarity. Get them in the door and then show them what else you have. They just have to capitalize on the second part.I'm not debating that they have hot properties. That's obvious. This has always been a big beef w/ my PS3. I only turn it on once a month or so, but every time I go to do something, it needs to update. I can't even get into the store without an update. And the update takes forever. Then it has to install (again, fairly slowly). Nothing like turning on your system to play a game and have it still updating 10 minutes later. The only performance issues I had were that downloads (especially updates) seemed to take MUCH longer on the PS3 than the 360 for me.In-game I didn't really notice a difference. However, if it's true that the XB1 will have dedicated servers for all MP games while PS4 games are still predominately P2P, there could be a much bigger difference this go-around. Not sure how true the story is about dedicated servers on the XB1 though.Doesn't sound like you guys are noting any performance issues. That would be my biggest concern.
We kind of covered this though as nobody else around here with a PS3 experiences the same issues as you do.This has always been a big beef w/ my PS3. They got saddled with the kiddie label and never lost it. Add to that last decade hardware and it's going to be a tough sale. The model is sound though. No I get this too. Like every time I turn the thing on. Do they really need to update the store software every three days? MS has implied all XB1 multiplayer games will have dedicated servers. Though like seemingly everything around the system it's still shrouded in some mystery. I'm surprised it's not getting more publicity.I want to know more about multiplayer and potential dedicated servers. My biggest issue by far is p2p hosting.
When playing Halo 4, sometimes the host turns off their console for whatever reason (called to dinner by mom or angry that I just assassinated them). Then game pauses and you sit there waiting for another host to be chosen and the game started. Sometimes this happens multiple times during one match.
Online hosting would solve this problem.

It's not just download speed - it's the fact that they need so many updates. It's constant (or at least it seems that way to a once-in-awhile user.)Huh. I didn't know people had that many issues with the PS3 downloading.
One thing I did find that helped me with my game updates not working was to turn off the media server in system settings. Never had a problem since I did that where before it would always take two or three tries since it would stop mid-download. You guys might want to check that.
I almost NEVER get system updates though. And game updates are seldom. They don't release system updates very often, so if you're having to do it every time, you have some setting messed up or a messed up system.
Again, it's very, very rare that I need to do an update of any kind. Their system updates are released about once a quarter - if that. It's not just download speed - it's the fact that they need so many updates. It's constant (or at least it seems that way to a once-in-awhile user.)
If you thought November 2013 was too long to wait, bear a thought for Asian gamers who will apparently have to wait those six months, plus an additional twelve, to pick up their Xbox One. According to Alan Bowman, Microsoft's Regional VP for Sales and Marketing in Asia, the new console will launch in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and India around late 2014. (Note the lack of Japan on that list, we're still checking with Microsoft on that.) These are all regions that have been marked as gaming high-growth areas by Microsoft -- the VP added that the Xbox 360 became the top-selling console in Asia this year. The company's also pointed to its next-generationKinect sensor, one that will work in "dramatically reduced" room spaces and, according Bowman, will be better attuned to Asian gamers who might not have living room space in their homes.
Update: We've just heard back from a Microsoft spokesperson who told us the following:
"Microsoft does plan to launch Xbox One, the ultimate new-generation all-in-one entertainment system, in Japan -- we look forward to confirming timing and other details at a later stage."
So 43 since 2009 or about 10 per year? Sounds like a lot to me.Again, it's very, very rare that I need to do an update of any kind. I have downloaded two 600+ mb patches for god of war ascension in the week that I've owned the game.
