Gio didn't get any starter reps with Cincy in the 2013 pre-season.
He went into the 2013 season as the #2 to BJGE's #1.
It was believed (and turned out to be the case) that BJGE would be the starter to start the season & be the goal-line back last year, while Gio would be the COP back.
The situations seem fairly similar to me. Could you demonstrate how they are different?

incorrect - Gio was the #2 back but he did get work with the first team.
