****Official Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Online deals thread**** (3 Viewers)

Also, don't buy the E series. Spend the extra and at least get the M.
Yeah I’m not getting the E, but it’s just one I was tracking before the HDR TVs became more affordable. I have a bunch I’m looking at currently including the P series and OLED.

For you guys looking for a Switch. I don't know how much of a deal this is on the base price, but there is one with Prime shipping: my link
I think thats the regular price on the Switch.  I bought one a few weeks ago when the Mario Odyssey bundle ($380) came out...Came with the game, red joycons and a Mario Carrying case.  The guy at Best Buy told me not to expect any Black Friday deals on the actual console.  Who knows if those guys have any actual info on the deals though.

I've never been big into video games, but this thing is pretty cool.  Highly portable.  Kids love it.

Please post something if you find a deal on an OLED. I'm looking at the 55" LG B7 at Costco that goes on sale this weekend which should be around $1500. I'd love the 65" but I can't swing the extra rack for it. Of course the wife was thinking we'd get one for like $800 so I'm already fighting an uphill battle.

1596 at Amazon right now.

 I've had that one in my cart/saved since Monday. It seems to be the price across most sites right now. But I thought I saw on Slickdeals somewhere that the Costco one might come down another $100 on Friday. Of course I haven't been able to find the link since

:fishing:  Nintendo Switch deal/bundle

also, my daughter wants to start Volgging on YouTube. Any ideas on a good, simple camera she can use? Portable, can go on a tripod and shoots decent video.
Go easy on this.  My daughter wanted to do the same thing.  $350 in equipment later, and she doesn't have a single video up four months in.  She has taken some and done some cool video editing, but then deletes it saying its not cool enough.  Every kid wants to be a youtube star.

Tempted to get a Switch for my kids (5 & 8 yrs old).  Neither of them are asking for it.....but I know how much I loved Atari and Nintendo as a kid.  Perhaps they're still too young.

I need a fitbit for my wife.  This is for her birthday, which is 11/28. Any recommends?  She has an old, very small one and wants to upgrade a bit but probably dosen't want a large watch type thing with a ton of different functions. tia

That was about the age of my kids when i bought the Wii. Like yours, my kids hadnt asked for it, but fell in love with it.

Charge 2 or Alta.  Charge 2 has a better band.

I hear ya. Thats why I want to go bare minimum. She's done a few with her cousin on the iPad but nothing major.

She already has the MacBook and iMovie, so really just needs a decent portable camera with removable card storage so she's not killing space on the cloud or our iDevices. Not going crazy with microphones or or any other studio crap just yet. I assume most of her "channel" will be her and her cousin making stupid faces and giggling.

I was thinking about possibly getting a gaming laptop this year but it will depend on the deals.  I may also see what Amazon is going to offer their Echo Dots for as I'd like to add a couple more to the house.

Look how you turned out.  Do them a favor and skip the video games.

Maybe even try spending some time doing something with them.

I'm assuming iPads get very little if any BF/CM treatment.

Anyone have recs as to what alternative I should look into as far as tablets? Don't need anything too sophisticated. Will be used only for light browsing/Youtube/streaming.

Actually, iPads do go on sale during the BF season. Target is showing $80 off a 32GB model. We got a deal on a new mini for my mom last year.

I like my 10.1" Galaxy Tab A

I picked up a dirt-cheap Kindle Fire and it's totally fine for that kind of use.  As a bonus, you can install other streaming options such as Terrarium and Kodi.

I had the really cheap one (was like $30-$40 on Prime day 2016) and it long crapped out on me.

Hey @tommyGunZ , you looking to sell any iphones again? Daughter is looking to upgrade.
we've got a connection to used iPhones here in the FFA?  I'm game as well.  My daughter was fine with android all these years and now that she's off in college, just HAS to have an iPhone.

Getting left off of group text threads, eh?

OMG, yes.  She was fine w/ android all these years.  Freshman in college and in a sorority and not in the group chats, as she must be the only college freshman without an iPhone.

What's up Mr. Pack? Hope all is well.  No iPhones for sale at this point.  I'll let you know if anyone in my family decides to upgrade.
Hey GB. All is well here. Hope you and yours are doing good as well. Have a great holiday season!

Are people excluding others from group texts because they’re not on the same platform? I don’t get it.  :whoosh:
Whatever format apple texts are in are not compatible with android

YYYYEP.  Android can make ya a social pariah in stuff like that

iOS users hate Android users on group chats. Screws the whole system up. Fragments the group into tons of arbitrary smaller threads, can't name the thread, can't mute it, cant add/remove/leave folks. Etc. Our softball/kickball team are 100% iOS at this point for this reason. Our main fantasy league has one dude who's android and we refuse to add him to the group until his phone won't screw everything up.

Apple's true killer app is iMessage. Such a great ecosystem and I wonder how much of Android's incompatibility with it is by design.

I thought all the kids were using apps like Groupme for their group chats.

At any rate, if you're looking for an OLED, Newegg has a flash sale right now on the LG 65" and 55" B7A models for $2149 and $1399 respectively. Not sure you're going to find a better price on these going forward.

Of course it works fine between Apple and Android. The "problem" once you have an Android user is that it shifts from iMessage to normal MMS. So you can't see when people have read the texts, when people are typing, or whatever other pointless stuff is included.

It's funny that it was said upthread that those chains can't be muted. Maybe from the Apple side, but Android users can definitely mute them.

My wife's side of the family has a group text chain (parents, four sisters, spouses, even the oldest grandkid). I was the only Android user on it. I had to mute the chain because getting all those texts constantly along with the notification popups was draining the battery on my old phone. About 6 months ago one of my SiLs texted me saying that they were sorry but they wanted to start a new thread without me so they could stick to iMessage, and they hoped I wasn't offended.  :lmao:

Greatest reason ever to go Android.

SAME HERE! My wife's fam will start a simple conversation on group text and then someone will drop in a funny meme and then the meme wars start. Generally the memes are amusing, but not amusing enough to deal with my phone vibrating every 11 seconds for 4 hours.

Early on, when I had only so many texts and data, I told them to leave me out of those because it was costing me money (that was what, about 8 years ago?). I've never been back and want to keep it that way.

My wifes family got me into their family fantasy league and their group chat. Thankfully with android you can shut off notifications for individual groups/chat threads.

That is a sweetheart deal! Damn, wish I had the cash laying around, but making a good part of my income in BBQ, the cold weather months are times to save and penny pinch, not splurge. Particularly after booking a long weekend in KC in mid December.

That being said, if $2150 is a sale now, come spring, I should be in great shape to find one sub $2K
