Haven't played video games in 5 years.

Got a PS3 for the kid at Cristmas.

Destiny was bundled.

I have my hunter up to level 4. I just accepted s bounty to perform patrol missions. Where do I find those? Do the story missions require co-op? I'm terrible at this game but getting better. I've read the last few pages and I feel like I'm trying to decipher Greek.

Any good noob advice?

Patrol is green on Earth.

Once you're in that mission on Earth, you'll see some green blinking lights. Go up to one of those and accept the mission.

I figured out that I hadn't advanced the story enough to unlock the patrol missions. One that are was open, I found them.

Google search, there are walkthroughs that describe all the locations, but in general you need to go on patrol on Earth to find them. They will not be indicated by any marker on your minimap.

Trying to complete the Urn of Sacrifice--Urzok the Hated.

Patrolling Skywatch, a group of us ran into him, started lighting him up, and just as he got down to about 50% health, he disappears. He has done this twice. Do I have to start over? No luck running around for a while after that.

ETA: How does one assemble a Fireteam to take down the Venus Raid "Vault of Glass"? Everytime I try, I am the only one out there and that task is impossible solo. It never searches for Guardians before I go to orbit.

Re: Urzok, you need to hope there are other high level guardians over there waiting for him. Not too hard if there are several guardians concentrating on him. Solo can be pretty tough.

Re: VOG - posting at r/fireteams is another good place to hookup with a group.

No you should be able to get one from the Speaker or from your Vanguard dude who you can also buy armor from. (I think)

1. Still no luck finding people for the Venus raid.

2. Stuck on level 26 for about 3 weeks now. What is the fastest way to level up? Patrols are crap and I get my ### handed to me in the Crucible. I have 90% of the story missions done until I can "get better gear". I finished the Urn quest and am just waiting for Xur on Friday to at least get me to level 27.

3. I do like the daily stuff, even though I generally fly solo and it takes an hour+ to accomplish.

I will say it is a beautiful looking game. Graphics are top notch.

What is your bottleneck for being stuck at 26? Gear or shards? bounties bounties bounties. errrry day. Nightfall and weekly every week. 26 is borderline for Vault of Glass unless you find a kindly sherpa willing to walk you through. 27 or 28 much better. Spend time in the strikes playlist and hope for good gear drops.

Destiny is a ton of fun, but it also is a grind. to get the better guns and material to upgrade everything I'd suggest you need to start grinding strikes, bounties and patrols, and hope for purple or exotic weapon drops. There really isn't any way around the grind and praying to RNGesus that you get some good weapons.

Doing strikes earns you vanguard marks (capped at 100/week), which you can use to buy purple weapons from the vanguard gunsmith located next to the lady who sells ships.

If you're short on ascendant shards/energy, you need to be farming public events. Gold starring them results in the chance at shards or energy each time. Use Destinypublicevents.com for timers or completely nerd out and use the destiny public events app on your phone like I do

Fatebringer or scout rifles. VoC is still badass even at 300. Headshots for dayz.

I've tried pulse rifles and don't like them, but I am working through the Bad JuJu bounty so maybe my thoughts will change once I get it and max it.

The Auto Rifles are good early on or if you are facing enemies at close range and you can melee as well. I started out with the Auto Rifles, but have mostly gone with Pulse Rifles since about level 8. Much more accurate and it seems the damage they inflict scaled faster than the Auto Rifles. Also seems alot easier to get precision kills with them. I am using Lump Distribution right now as my pulse rifle.

I'm a scout rifle guy too. I have a MIDA exotic that I use for raids mainly and it's also awesome for doing anything quick (patrols, material farming, rushing through stories/strikes) because it has awesome agility perks that increase your movement speed. Especially if you come across a scout rifle with the firefly perk (precision kills cause the target to explode), I highly recommend you level it up and see if you like it.

For any of you guys on XB1, hit me up if you're looking for someone to run dailys/weeklys/raids with. I'm on almost every night between 9-11 PM EST. I party up with MTKA Ender (another FBG) most nights and it'd be great to have a regular 3rd fireteam member. We typically knock out the weekly/nightfall on Tuesday nights and then do the Crota Raid on Wednesday or Thursday night. The other nights we'll do the daily heroics, bounties, ROC strikes, or whatever we feel like.

For anyone looking for groups for raids, etc. I've had really good success funding groups using Destiny Fireteams on Reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/Fireteams/new/

I still ave no real idea WTF I'm doing. Pretty much doing public events and story, with the occasional raid mixed in, I've been able to level up to 20. Now, learning WTF 'light' is and understanding how to upgrade my weapons and armor.
