there was a sale for flights to new york in march. She wanted to go. I thought we had maybe spent a bit too much on travel as we are going to Mexico in a couple weeks and park city a couple weeks later. today the sale is no longer valid and homeostasis is at 7%

Yes, luckily. After our son was born he had some health issues and that ended up draining our savings, but we're fortunate enough that I make enough for us to live on. No luxuries, no savings, and tighten the belt, but we'll be ok. Barring emergencies like, say, my car breaking down.

Any idea yet what's up with the car.And that's good news that you can support the family alone. That takes a lot of pressure off. Pressure, stress, etc., could be the most damaging thing to come out of something like this. So try and head it off. Encourage her to treat it like a short vacation- do some knitting- build up a more seasonal inventory, go on 2-3 interviews a week, but use the time to re-charge and give extra attention to the kid. Having this attitude should make the time off more pleasant and really make her appreciate you more.

Her job was work from home and work at night so we were daycare free already, and I think she was getting pretty frazzled with being a stay-at-home mom by day and a worker at night (she had this job only about 6 mo.) so I'm trying to get her to think of it as a positive and she's acting like she's ok with it so far (she's also had like 8 glasses of wine tonight so yeah). As for the car no clue. This is the fourth time I've had it in within the last 2 months or so. At this point I'd rather just trade it in and get a new one, but once again a reduced income makes that impossible.

2001 Mazda Protege (with spoiler), nothing, and mostly it just stops acccelerating and idles hard, but one of the times I brought it in it was because I couldn't get the key out (needed a new ignition cylinder) and today the ####er just stopped. On the freeway.

oof. I guess you got it home or to the shop?First things I'd try is a fuel filter and some of that stuff you put in the gas tank to evaporate any water. Those would be the cheapest possible solutions. It sounds like a fuel issue, so next I'd check the fuel pump and make sure the injectors are clean. Did you change the timing belt at the recommended interval?Owning it outright is great. Especially with a spoiler.
