Players that make it through a round of waivers are FA in yahoo. If you can drop a player that's already played to pick up one that hasn't, your rules are broke

He was still an option to you (and no one else) at his gametime. Not right, IMO, that you can drop him after his game for a free agent. Correctly configured system should not allow that. The caveat is the guy has to have been on your bench that week. Which Washington was for this particular league.
Understood. But you shouldn't ever be able to drop a player who already played that week to add a FA.Players that make it through a round of waivers are FA in yahoo.
The caveat is that you had to have them on the bench (not affecting anything).Understood. But you shouldn't ever be able to drop a player who already played that week to add a FA.

Isn't a matter of should or shouldn't.. we are telling you how it is.
Not in my yahoo leagues. Philly's def is available off waivers 10/5Players that make it through a round of waivers are FA in yahoo.
I checked 4 of my leagues and in 2 leagues it's this way and in 2 leagues it's the other way <shrug>Not in my yahoo leagues. Philly's def is available off waivers 10/5
He looked good on a couple of runs the week before when all this chatter was just getting rolling. Why are people saying he looked good prior to the injury? He had 2 rushes for 6 yards and 1 catch for 8. Not much of a sample set to draw conclusions from.
Really hope we get some kind of definitive injury news prior to midnight tomorrow.
I disagree that it doesn't affect anything. I understand that is how it is in your league. I don't agree with setting a league up that way. I don't want to hijack this thread any further so leaving it at that. The caveat is that you had to have them on the bench (not affecting anything).

I will leave it at this - your agreement is irrelevant. Yahoo does this, we did not.I disagree that it doesn't affect anything. I understand that is how it is in your league. I don't agree with setting a league up that way. I don't want to hijack this thread any further so leaving it at that.
FTR, I was not ripping anyone who takes advantage of the way their system is set. I am ripping the system setting that allows it.I checked 4 of my leagues and in 2 leagues it's this way and in 2 leagues it's the other way <shrug>
I'm the commish in none of them, so I just take whatever setting is given. It might seem odd to some that I can just pick up Ertz or the Philly defense right now but I can. So I should take advantage of that, right?
I have Delanie as my TE and New England as my D/ST. So yeah, wondering if it's worth it to drop Washington to add either.
Yeah, I joined a league this year and will not be returning because of the dumb claim system they are running. They don't lock down free agents so those that are watching games and get first news on a major injury can pounce on anyone. I have too many things going on in my life to do this so I'm at a disadvantage. Any league that allows you to add free agents after a teams game has started that week sux.Understood. But you shouldn't ever be able to drop a player who already played that week to add a FA.
You've decided his 3 total touch (before getting injured) game is enough to write him off as just hype?I would say stop bickering so we can talk about Washington, but really is there anything left to discuss? I was wrong saying he was a risky start with a floor of 4-5 points. In this offense/opp he has an even lower floor. 28 pages of hype here.
Nah I posted it was hype well before this game. People were passing on guys like Jordan Howard for Washington based upon hype. Go ahead and look up the threads. I won't bother. You've decided his 3 total touch (before getting injured) game is enough to write him off as just hype?
BTW, nice avi![]()
I passed on Howard for Washington - which with the power of hindsight I obviously regret - but for me it had nothing to do with "hype". For me it came down to Washington could have been the lead back the entire season whereas Howard could have been the lead back for a few weeks while Langford was out. I bought into opportunity and it is what it is.Nah I posted it was hype well before this game. People were passing on guys like Jordan Howard for Washington based upon hype. Lions RB Dwayne Washington has a sprained foot and ankle but the hope is he can play Sunday vs the Eagles.
glad u posted this. several times i wanted to ask why anyone would pick Washington over Howard if you needed a starter right now. Howard was the uncontested starter for this past sunday, washington obviously wasn't going into the game. This logic makes perfect sense whether i agree with it or not.I passed on Howard for Washington - which with the power of hindsight I obviously regret - but for me it had nothing to do with "hype". That looks like a guy that has nothing wrong with his foot and ankle. Too bad Stafford sucks because all he had to do is wait another 1/2 sec and he could get Washington the ball for the 1st down.He was actually in the game in their last series.

Nice pick up. I was still flipping back to that game as a Marvin Jones owner and had no idea he'd returned to the game. I assumed he didnt play another snap after the injury. He was actually in the game in their last series.

If he can play this week, that's the good news. The fear was a multi-week injury. Agree, the foot and ankle sprains are worrisome. Whether he can be effective or not remains to be seen.Hold on a minute. How is this good news? A sprained foot is a different injury than a sprained ankle. This confirms that he has two injuries. A sprained ankle is minor. A sprained foot reminds me of something relating to lisfranc.
Why was he in the game on the last play? I see he will most likely be playing next week according to team so it doesn't appear to be serious. It would be valuable to know if his usage was based upon an injury or a coaches decision. I heard he limped off the field, but many RBs limp off the field for a play or two and get right back in on the next play or series. Jordan Howard came out briefly and missed 3 carries for instance. That looks like a guy that has nothing wrong with his foot and ankle. Too bad Stafford sucks because all he had to do is wait another 1/2 sec and he could get Washington the ball for the 1st down.
Him being out on the field during the final series of the game would lead me to believe that this "injury" will be brief. Didn't look hobbled at all. I'm no doctor, though.steelwind said:Hold on a minute. How is this good news? A sprained foot is a different injury than a sprained ankle. This confirms that he has two injuries. I don't think he's a must-drop by any means, but it really depends on what kind of league you're in.Do you keep waiting on him if someone like Smallwood available? Have to drop right?
I agree with most that if you can afford to hold him and keep Washington on the bench for the next few weeks he is a hold. If your team is plagued with injuries you may have to drop him. I still think the upside is there, IMO we didn't learn anything this week. Between his injury and the whole lions O sucking there wasn't much there.I don't think he's a must-drop by any means, but it really depends on what kind of league you're in.
In my 10 team league, I'll probably move on because the wire is plentiful. In my 12 team league, this dude could pay huge dividends at some point down the line (production, or trade chip), and has some value.
Crazy... I didn't see that. Great news!hamsterdam said:He was actually in the game in their last series.

Sprained foot does not automatically equal lisfranc. But yes, foot injuries, especially to RBs and WRs, always scare me the most. I think I said this upthread discussing the Abdullah injury, but you could argue that a foot injury is among the worst for fantasy owners, because it can often lead to long-term, even season-ending, absences, but unlike ACL/Achilles/patellar tendon, its severity isn't always immediately apparent. So you get guys like MJD a few years ago, always teasing his imminent return but ending up missing the final 12 games of the season.steelwind said:Hold on a minute. How is this good news? You say that like Dwayne Washington success was equally probable to Howard's success (it wasn't).Skoo said:Welp, this is the way it goes with lottery ticket RBs. Sometimes you get Dwayne Washington, sometimes you get Jordan Howard.
But that's kind of the point. Keep taking shots and hope you catch lightning in a bottle. Everyone loves to talk about the late-year RBs that emerge and win people championships.
Well, this is how you find those guys. By trial and error and staying on top of it.
It's all just hype or lack thereof until they actually take the field and we see what they can really do. But you have to make that leap before seeing them on the field in most cases, or they'll be gone.
The names have nothing to do with my post. The point I was making is that when you pick up a guy who has never been on the field in a meaningful role before, it's going to be a gamble. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But you'll never strike gold if you don't take a shot. You say that like Dwayne Washington success was equally probable to Howard's success (it wasn't).
On the verge of dropping him for Dixon ...It's a shame we didn't get clarity on this guy this week, makes it a tough call as to whether or not to hold him or go after someone on the WW tonight. We're still not sure if this guy is a scrub or a player (or how bad his injury is) which puts him in the running for low man on the totem pole.
