***OFFICIAL*** FBG All things BATTLEFIELD Thread (10 Viewers)

I am willing to bet the new attention from the devs is in anticipation of the new BF1943 and BC2. Get people interested, set the line and hook 'em.
The new Battlefield games are the only thing really holding me back from rebuying Battlefield 2. Aside from bitterness of having to rebuy the game and expansions after paying top dollar, and upgrading my machine just to play the game at the time it released.I just figure, what's the point when I know I'm buying the new one anyway. How's the online community, these days? I know a few FBGs still play the game, but my IRL friends have moved on to other games and are spread out. I have to admit that I've been craving some real Battlefield for awhile and BF:Heroes doesn't cover it. Although I can wait out another 3 weeks, which (I believe has been rumored) is BF1943's console launch.
I'm in that long drought between the 20,000 point and 50,000 point promotions. I'm closing in on 40,000 and still feel 50,000 is forever away.
This is where was when I stopped playing in '07. I believe around the 28,000 mark.
My original disc quit working and I was able to pick up another copy at Best Buy for 10 bucks. It's gotta be worth 10 bucks SlaX!

I hear ya. I am almost 41k and feel like 50k will never come. :lmao:ETA I know exactly which unlock I would take if I ever hit 50k - the P90.
I only have one unlock left. Never bought Special Forces.
Didn't miss much, the maps caused a lot of lag for some dumb reason. Used the zip line a few times which was cool, and of course the ever popular flashbangs that you still see in BF2. Even worse was the Euro pack or whatever it was called.
I like how you can still pick up the weapons even if you haven't unlocked them or even purchased any expansions. But I really came in here to say that Im hitting up a wake server. No idea which, but if you care to join me look for a 20+ server with an fbg tag inside

Personally, I like the EPIC, TSH and =US= Wake servers. Usually have between 20-40 players and fairly well balanced.

Yeah, I have a $15 Reward Zone cert that I thought about spending on it, but I debated just vanilla BF2 or going for the Complete Collection. And then, I start thinking "why should I pay for the stuff I already paid for?" (you can't play if you don't pay, stupid!) And I wonder if anyone even plays Euro or Armored Forces now, because they sure didn't when I played. And wonder if anyone even plays Special Forces anymore, because it wasn't very populated then either... And I think I think to much. (I don't care, yeah, but I don't care.)Come to think about it, vanilla is probably my best bet.

Definitely go vanilla, I'll be playing tonight. Look back a few pages and I posted a TS server for FBGs.

I found that map tough to play unless you were a pilot.
It really depends. It can be tougher with a great pilot, but in my of my experiences USUALLY both sides get OK pilots and there is some balance. If not, sure it sucks, but the same can be said of any map. I just love the head-on nature of it all.

Bf3=confirmed :goodposting:

early reports are 40 players, 24 vehicles and 17 unique weapons per team. Speculation is a holiday 2010 release with a 1 map beta roughly a year from now.

Awesome.

:kicksrock:Wow, 24 vehicles huh? Seems like a lot, unless you break it down and those 24 are for 3 different armies like BF2 and thus 3 different tanks, etc.

Sweet! Where are you getting these early reports?
ign.com had a short blurb and there's some other stuff on totalbf2 and planetbattlefield :nerd:EA has confirmed that its in development, but no confirmation of any other info.personally, i'd be more than ok with 80 players servers as long as the destruction for bad company is in the game. it adds alot to the game play and they've built on in for Bc2 (you can take entire buildings down now)

Ah, just like the good old days. TLEF and I just dominated the iO server, finishing 1 and 2. TLEF was a medic whore and I was an armor whore. Good times all around!

TLEF, was your mic broken?

not broken, i just don't keep it hooked up. and yes, we destroyed that round. Someone accused me of hacking. Just one of those rounds where every burst from the medic gun drops somebody. Wished i had gotten to 100 points. Just not enough time. Trying for my expert medic badge. Need another 7 and a half hours and then a 40 kill round

Had a massive headaches from sunup to sundown yesterday. Went to bed as soon as I got home from work. Still groggy today but if you get on tonight, let me know.

Patch 1.50 will be released next Tuesday, Sept 1st. :lmao:

All booster packs will be free as well as adding a new map.

yeah, i saw that too. i will be playing.

pretty sure i'll be unkillable once they fix the hit boxes and all my shots start counting.

I have never played this game, but it looks great. Would I be able to use my laptop? Just curious.

Thanks,

HH
If you have a relatively new laptop, it should play it. Go to this link and select Battlefield 2. It will tell you if your system can run it. The game is 4 or 5 years old, but still a blast and has a good sized community still playing.

Pretty sure I have it downloaded after last night, but did not check before I left for work this AM.

downloaded and installed yesterday. i only got to play for a second and the new map looked like crap. However, i may have had outdated video drivers. I updated them, so i may fire it up again this evening.

Based on the 10 or so minutes that i played, the hitboxes did seem a bit more refined

I will try to get on tonight and see what's up. It will be nice to see more people playing the booster maps. I always liked those.

I installed the update yesterday, but had a lot of trouble getting a map to load for the first time. It took 25 minutes to load it up to 10% and I quit. I tried again late last night and the same happened. I decided to try loading up a single player game to see if I could get the maps to load there and it loaded like normal (or as it normally would the first time you change settings). After messing around a bit, I quit out of single player and tried a real server again and it finally let me in ok. I figured I just needed the game to do the optimizations and stuff... but don't know why it took so long.

Anyway, I'm loaded and ready.

I'm busy tonight, but let me know when you guys are doing your BF2 nights. I need to see if I can get TS working again.

put in a few hours this afternoon. I like all the new maps (didn't buy the booster pacs) that i've played and the game looks a lot better with true WS support. Better performance as well since the game can use 4 gigs of ram.

Hit recognition doesnt seem all that better. If anything its worse. I havent tried sniping yet though. Just commenting based on a few hours of medic play.
