Building the Wall !!
So freaking boring. Could they steal any more story lines from TWD? Kids who play with zombies on a fence and clearing the prison fence. I know the latter is something that would happen everywhere they would be, but for some reason they have to setup the first place to have a ferry that went down creating the same scenario.

Also, how freaking long does it take people to accept the situation and that killing zombies isn't bad?

loved the little girl turning into a zombie and killing mommy.....reminded me of the original night of the living dead basement scene...havent seen a kid zombie kill anyone in The walking dead in 6 seasons

Decent enough, it just sucks that the two most interesting characters the show has had will no longer be in it (I'm assuming).  The dad and older son were interesting.

Better than last week for sure.
Agreed. It got better although I am not sure I like the angle of the captain trying to get somewhere pre-planned. After the zombie apocalypse nothing has monetary value besides tools to survive including a boat. He had to have this trip planned before the breakout so would some sort of "drug deal" really happen now? Heck it sure was lucky the other guys had no issues. I'm just afraid it will be a bad setup to make sure we know Blades was right all along.

This episode was a bit better but you still have to question the logic of these people.  Why in the hell would you leave the island?  Seems infinitely safer than the boat especially with no where to go and supposed bad guys chasing you.

Yeah, they needed to spend more time on the island.  It would have been cool to see them foraging for supplies on the island, especially over near the ferris wheel. Or trying to anyways...

:goodposting: Especially the part about taking the kids because they have such a better chance on the boat.

They've been putting up fences along the beach, but, you can just walk straight to the house from the dock?

I liked the point of the son having to kill his zombie mother after Chris and his mom's story line.

Too much production cost.  If there is one thing both of these shows have shown us is that they aren't willing to do much filming other than in cheap, remote locations. They must have spent all their budget showing us the little part of LA they did in the first season.

Agreed, better episode if for nothing else there wasn't anything glaringly stupid writing-wise.

Hoping to get things going a bit "action-wise".

So are we done with the island now or do you think those characters are going to have a role going forward?  I kindof like the teen dude.  But you know the second the daughter stepped on the dock he would be on that like a mutha.

Watching the previews for next week, it looks like we'll get more action on Sunday. I saw in the previews the girl from the Web series in the airplane, and it looks like from the clip that the plane eventually crashed and the plane group + its walkers will find our group.

this almost suited my "what would I do" ideas... go to an island, put up fences, grow some #### and hunker down.

love that it was a nutso doomsday prepper. and that they figured out in a couple of weeks what took Rick et al years to figure out regarding how to deal with the zombies. of course the parallels were hit-over-the-head obvious- fence-line, shot to the brain with something quiet, etc, but hey- TWD writers and subtle not possible.

kind of enjoyed it- even though I don't buy the "take my kids" angle or the girl deciding just then to pop her brian jonestown pill. that said- loved seeing her turn and off mom.

he left the little round container open and looks like one or two pills left behind.
did he? wasn't paying too much attention, but I thought the kid saw him playing around with the globe- and then he put it back. but the kid was intrigued so inspected later.

Did anyone else laugh heartily at the stupid girl exploring the park with headphones in?  Way to stay aware of your surroundings, dingbat.
Had the exact same thought, yes. Liked the episode though. I guess at this point, any episode without something mind-blowingly stupid happening is a good one. Low bar has been established.

what about Strand on a cell phone?  That seems to be implausible at the moment and its nuts he still thinks his plan works.  I also think its nuts that the old hispanic dude is openly questioning his motives when he could get kicked off the boat.

Didn't put much thought in to the cell phone call. As for the Hispanic dude, given his earlier referred too background as a bad man down south of the border, I don't think he's worried about being pushed around. I somehow doubt he'd accept being kicked off the boat.

That had to be a satellite phone.

He was on a sattellite phone, so it makes sense he can still use it. But what kind of deal or trade would a guy still want to make during the zombie apocolypse. Weapons?

I was going to say slave labor. But obviously whatever it was had been set up before he knew he'd have passengers.
The side gimmick to me is always the buzz kill in this type of stuff.  There is no need to have some side plot involving Strand with what does he have up his sleeve.  Its too soap operaish.  The story should be good enough just to watch them wade through the start of the apocalypse without some stupid secret underlying story.  Feels too cartoonish.

The girl thought that junkie Depp had discovered some hidden candy, something she likely didn't see much due to her weirdo family.

Thought this last episode was pretty good, and liked the interaction between the two dads.

When the show is interesting, you don't miss "wall to wall action" or curse the characters as much.
