Best episode of the series

A weirdly realistic episode. Mexicans have an obsession with death and I could see some of what happened actually happening down there.

Chris has to be the worst character in television history.  Hate that guy and every second he is on the screen.  Madison is a close second place, though, imo.
:goodposting: s.  Easily the best episode this season.  Liked the ties to the church and the poisoning.  Mexican mother is good although it just feels like a rehash of early Hershel's barn combined with some Governor crazy.  Chris's character is just plain dumb and forced and Travis needs to grow a pair of balls.

While I've quit the show I haven't quit reading this thread.  Keep up the good work guys.  If it ever seems like it's picking up steam I'll be able to jump back in.

Who else thinks the women who gave Nick some food looks like Signorney Weaver?

Man is mom gonna be pissed that Strand capped her son. I think next episide will be an all out war between the two parties in the compound.

Next week is the mid-season finale. Anyone know when they will start airing the second half of the season?
I looked half heartedly and didn't find the dates. I believe they will air the final episode of season 2 about 2 weeks before TWD premiers.

Apparently Google is not my friend because I did a search and didn't turn up any specific dates. I did find something that said the second half would lead into the premier of The Walking Dead in October.
only thing i could find was TBA

Hmm. So sometime in August I think.

I thought she looked like Sonia Braga (maybe she is).

I did a double-take when I saw that this episode was produced by Pablo Cruz.  I was like...oh, wait, yeah...I'm thinking about Pablo Cruise

I fell asleep through half of it but it still seemed pretty terrible

the whole Hey I Kinda Want To Murder My Stepmom storyline is so forced and unbelievable

oh look our protagonists are trapped in a seemingly safe compound and gave up their guns.  I wonder if anything will go wrong

Tanner spot on with the mixing in of random Spanish into English sentences

oh and watching this show with my wife is like reading this board

wife: "wait are they gay?"

me: "did you miss an episode"

wife: "is he sick?"

Me: "No he seems fine" :loco:

wife: "how'd he get sick"

me: "probably that big zombie bite on his arm that they keep showing"

wife: "oh I didn't see that"

oh look our protagonists are trapped in a seemingly safe compound and gave up their guns.
And the head marm was cooking (BBQing?).  Was a mixture of Hershel's farm and Terminus.

They took all their weapons yet there was a field knife on the night stand beside daughter's bed and Strand didn't have trouble finding his 9M to prevent his lover from being a zombie.

I thought this was easily the best episode in two seasons. I was giving it this week and they got me for the mid-season finale. Kill off Chris....now. Seriously awful character.

Curious to see where it goes now that they are off the boat and in the apocalypse again (or so it seems).

So I am guessing it was the mexican momma that poisoned the townsfolk?  Was the priest rallying up the people to raid the compound cause momma is keeping zombies alive?

I havent watched the newest and came here to see if it was worth my time.  But after reading this post, assuming its real and not being sarcastic, then there is no way in hell I will even waste 45 minutes if the above is an actual storyline.

Not sarcastic and I think this is indeed the storyline though I have been wrong before.

Yes to both questions. Communion hosts had poison in them, just like those she made for Abigail and Strand.

Didn't we do this exact plot on the TWD with Hershel keeping them in a barn (vs. they keep them in the cellar in this one).  They really blew an opportunity to do the breakdown of civilization which they decided to just skip over mid-first season.

I will probably keep watching as I do like Zombies but to bad it appears to be the same show as TWD.

Chris going into his stepmom's bedroom, grabbing the knife and then running away when she woke up is one of the most ridiculous things I ever saw on tv.

Not sarcasm or a bash or anything. But if you didn't like the last two episodes, it really is time to move on. The show will obviously not be in your wheelhouse.

What an intense show. This is what TWD has been missing for a long time now. This series is hitting its stride. Awards should be right around the corner.

Easily the best of the series which is nice considering that last week's episode was the best.

That might have been the dumbest episode I've ever seen. I'm going looking for my son, without shoes. Because?  Nic just washes the zombie blood out of his wife beater.  :lmao: .  Why even shower with it on? Travis lives in LA and knows zero Spanish?  Not even gracias for the Agua? Good thing his feet aren't bad enough to sprint after Chris. Mexican lady interrogates the interigator and he starts seeing visions of his dead wife, come on.  Zombies not even attracted to the truck at the end   As it drives out the gate, how'd it get inside the gate again?

The whole Chris character is beyond stupid.

Maybe I'm watching a different show than you guys.  And to each his own.  I thought the finale was decent, and good in parts, but much of it was ridiculous.

I was happy when red closed the bars behind Cilia (and thought that was going to happen), but I thought we'd see her get eaten by her son or see red pushing her into her son and then leaving.  Are we to assume Cilia was ok with being in there with her familia?  or are we supposed to take away from it that she realized she was now in trouble and her whole philosophy on the dead was wrong?

Hated to see R. Blades go.  He and Strand were the only decent characters on the show, imo.  Travis was decent at first, but lately the writers have turned him into a knucklehead.

Let's see now:

Chris=Carl

Nick =Glen

Reubens Blades=Rick

Dead wife=Lori

The reappearing dead wife and youngest child always going off alone thing was dumb on the parent show, adding it to this is rough.

Nick in the shower with a clean shirt was really stupid.  I don't mind Blades seeing his dead wife.  He had demons to exorcise.  And I thought the truck was inside the gate the whole time.  It's what they drove in to begin with.  But Strand knew the gate code anyway, I thought.

Nick just wandering off without a care in the world... dumb.  His mother (and sister) just watching him wander off is silly too.  He was clearly not in his right mind.  Jump out and pick him up and throw him into the truck.

The Chris character being beyond stupid is spot on.  Good grief.

Remember that in TWD world, nobody is dead unless you see them die on screen.

Both Blades and the Mexi-Mom are still alive.

Ghosts don't belong in zombie shows and why the hell do they have the baddest character not only loose his mind but kill himself off?  Because these crap dumb writers are better at writing soap operas than they are prime time drama.  Did we even see one zombie kill this episode?  They've abandoned suspense and thrill for character development and family relationships with characters that we don't even like.  The production budget must be horrible because we don't get to see any of the important stuff; Chris sneaking off to go get Celia's son, Chris killing the amigo/walker and taking his gun, Celia being eaten, Daniel dying.

Why would Nick care more for Celia after two discussion with her more than his family?  Because she gave him some menudo? I guess we're supposed to believe this street smart kid can be influenced by a kooky old lady.  Why does Travis have to lie about coming back?  They all know Chris has gone crazy already, that's what they've all been trying to tell Travis, wouldn't it make more sense for him to send a message to Madison?  Corrrral......I mean Chriiiis!

And why are they even leaving?  Did the fire burn down the wall?  I suppose we are supposed to think those barrels blew up because they were full of tequila even though the fields were wine fields.

The Nick character was actually okay in my opinion until the last two episodes. Now that character has gone off the rails. When he didn't get in the truck at the end, I was pleased. Hopefully, Nick and Chris die in the next episode.

I will watch the next episode when the show comes back on in August and go from there. If it sucks, I will stop watching. I have given up on shows in the past.

I agree, it's simply not believable that a heroin addict would make poor decisions in the zombie apocalypse.

First 13 episodes of FTWD > first 13 episodes of TWD.
That's not what the ratings say.  Because of the popularity of it's sister show FTWD launched with over 10 million viewers for it's season 1 premier.  The numbers have gone steadily downward since to around 4.5 million now.  TWD's numbers really didn't go down until last season, season 6, and it still topped 12 million for every single episode.

And I'm not really defending TWD as they have both been poorly written recently.  I just think the ratings show that a lot of people identified with the characters in TWD where there aren't any to really identify with in FTWD.  If something dramatic doesn't happen in the second half of this season and season 3 I just don't see it getting renewed past that.

FWIW, despite a little bit of a lull in the first half of season 2 TWD numbers went up from 5 million to 9 million in it's first two seasons.  And opened at 11 million for season 3 opener.  To put some perspective on it.

FTWD has double the ratings of Breaking Bad before the second half of season 5 and better ratings than any episode of Mad Men.

Finally caught up and wish I hadn't. Laughable to think this show has been better than TWD. All they've done is rehash story lines in Spanish and do them even worse. I'm going to have a real hard time watching another episode and if I do it's because it's the summer and nothing else is on. Chris is beyond stupid. Did he not realize those knives came from the kitchen? His dad searching in socks and getting bloody feet? Nick all of a sudden believing the dead are somehow still alive when he's the first one to see a zombie? The mom being an evil Herschel? Also, Blades going from the guy seemingly leading everyone in good judgement after his wife is already dead and then falling completely apart in 2 minutes?

It was already enough to think that somehow Strand's beau couldn't run to his truck 6 feet away and not get bit and Connor and two big guys not being able to avoid getting bit as well. The finale was so over the top bad it's amazing and I've stood up for a lot of TWD the past couple seasons. TWD is academy award level cinema compared to this show.
