same writers though, right?
I don't believe Kirkman has anything to do with this. His name might be on it to bring more viewers in, but I know he has been pulling out of the TV aspect of the show for a few years I think. If you read the comics you can see there is such a significant difference in how a story is told it is baffling Kirkman would be involved in most of this.

I completely skipped last season. Is it worth catching up on?
I did the same, I'd had enough.

Is there a beneficial fast-forward tip for this series?  Like with Breaking Bad, you could essentially FF any scene with Skyler and be better for the experience.

I actually kinda liked the first hour. the second hour was a trainwreck, though. made even less sense than usual. and they really build up one character at the end one episode just to drop him, literally, at the beginning of the second. stupid.

Just was looking through old posts to figure out who came up with druggie Depp... Forgot how much ctsu looooved this show.

The spoon scene was lol funny.  If you wanted to stab him they went about it entirely wrong.
She said unless he wanted to lose the eye, he should cooperate. She wasn't stabbing him. She was just threatening to pop the eye out and he'd lose it. She had dropped the knife when he knocked it from her hand. She reached what she could. It isn't like she was in a kitchen full of utensils and just decided on a spoon.

this show just got a hundred times better when they killed Travis.

Eta- if he somehow pulls a Glen and survives being bitten, shot, and falling from a chopper, I'm officially out.

You forgot- eviscerated. Yeah... I had the same thought. Chances are good imo that he comes back in some regard, prisoner, zombie, flashback.

Not saying it's realistic... but whoever shot down the chopper couple have stitched him up in twd reality.
I hope not. That would be just so over the top. Unless the fall was a lot less than what they made it to appear. Not to mention, he got hit in the neck, so the artery was likely severed. On top of his guts spilling out. But you are right, it wouldn't be unprecedented.

Exactly... so there's a chance.

I totally disagree.  He was the one character I was finally rooting for now that he got pissed off and starting kicking the crap out of zombies and people alike.

I couldn't care less about the rest of the characters.  Barely watched it while screwin' around on my phone last night via DVR.  Meh.

Confusing, terribly written.  But like others here, I'll hate-watch just because I have nothing else to watch on TV at this point.

They pretty much need to kill off all the main characters except for the hot daughter and bring in a new, more likeable crew to give this show any chance, so last episode was a good start in my book

:lmao: not only is the guy who got his eye spooned out walking around talking like it doesn't even hurt, but, he's still a right handed marksman without his right eye.

I didn't mind this quieter episode. Not tip top, but not as groaningly bad as previous. I like when they get into how people are seeing up to survive like the preppers here.

But was that actually Ruben blades? Or strand hallucinating?

Yeah I think they are going to have him survive.  Unreal

also this show is bad, the writing is just comical now.  Greasy Johnny Depp shots a gun 2 feet away and 6 inches from someones ear and the guy just laughs it off?  Jesus H writers have any of you shot a gun before?  That dude would be deaf as hell right now.

When he showed up at the cell window, I honestly couldn't remember when the last time we saw him was. Can someone remind me? Was he thought to be dead?

I stopped watching during season two. I have a friend who was an extra for the current season so I sort of was thinking of watching again. Should I bother or is it still horrible? I am not even sure what season they are in now.

Its Wednesday filler when I am having lunch.  Fast forward pretty hard through it.  Its teetering on the edge of me completely dropping it because the writing is so bad but I love a good zombie show.  But all in all probably not a good show to bother to pick up.

ask your friend if he knows which episode(s) he might be in.

it's definitely not worth watching the series again, if it's something you've already dropped. but might be fun to see your buddy- especially if s/he was a zombie. I stay because of my blind allegiance to post-apocalyptic tripe.

it goes towards just how much I've given up on the show that I just laughed off that gun-shot... had the same exact thought as you.

I laughed it off in the same way that johnny depp laughed off... something... right after taking that shot.

and in the same way we'll laugh off travis coming back into the show after having survived that gunshot/disemboweling/fall-from-a-helicopter. or ruben blades- the writers' deus ex machina for making the gang leave that hacienda after setting it on fire because of a ghost... for that matter

I'm not sure why I still watch this...or anyone for that matter. I can't see this lasting much longer. I guess there isn't much else on at this time of year on a Sunday night.

At least Daniel is an interesting character. I don't care about any of the others.

It was kind of stupid to kill him off initially and even stupider to do the whole "haha I secretly survived" bit, but the show is better with him.

I'm liking this Daniel episode. Be better if I spoke Spanish
Probably one of the best episodes of the series.  I was this close to saying adios, but this was real good.  I was kind of peeved they killed Travis off right when it looked like he was going to be the "badass" cuz certainly it can't be the any of the chicks or dooshy dudes left.  So glad they brought Daniel back, even though in doing so you kinda go "yeah right".

Suspend disbelief of the gunshot thing a couple weeks ago and the lightning strike this past week.... and hope that Daniel gets back to his old ways of takin' fools out.

At minimum, there's enough hope for it to remain on DVR, but not like I'm gonna watch it Sunday night after it's done recording.  I'll get to it when I get to it.

lightning strike?

Daniel was about to be eaten by a zombie and then lightning came down and hit the zombie's head.  Was actually pretty badazz

Whew, glad I wasn't imagining it

And actually, with the allegories related to religion/God I guess it was fitting in a way.

Ruben Blades is awesome and I hope that he continues to kick ###, especially since they killed off Cliff Curtis - the only guy with "action film experience" that was cast.

I'm personally enjoying this way more than TWD. I've enjoyed the season so far.
Although TWD is poorly written, at least they made you care about the characters.

I have not cared less about any of the characters on this show and we're up to season 3. . Travis, Daniel, and the daughter (for obvious reasons) are the only likeable ones (maybe Ophelia a little bit), but they killed off Travis after he got more interesting. I don't care about Madison. I wanted Travis's son to die from day one.  Nick should die, too. . It's kind of hard to care about Strand.  I watch it, but have nothing invested in it.

That's how I feel about TWD. There isn't a single character you could kill off that I would care about.

Got better the last few. I think I'm up to date and still haven't bailed. Feel like the writers have been better with real world motivations for action (reserving judgement on the Indians).

Interesting they're barely using zombies any more, which is good. Such a joke prop/plot filler at this point in the viewers TWD universe.

Anybody else have a bit of deja vu between the horse trailer and twd S2 barn scenes?

Plus the bird pecking at brain thing was pretty good creepy stuff.

Finally started watching DVR'd episodes last night.  So far this season is maybe the best one to date.  Didn't like them offing Travis and I still hate Madison.  But the new characters are ok for the most part.

Best episode by far is the one on Daniel.  Ruben Blades is very good.

The survivalist video commercial of west coast Virgil was funny.  When the #### hits the fan, what will you do?  "Buy a bucket of crap from me and protect what's yours.. at least for a little while."

I'll keep watching because there is absolutely nothing else on summer tv.  Celebrity game shows, doo doo, all of them.  Battle of the network stars?  holy moly how bad is that.  Football can't get here soon enough.

seems to me they took the cartooniness of the psycho-killer brother and dialed it down a bit.... or at least have been writing it better. these shows disintegrate when they have characters doing idiotic things because "look at me- I'm cartoon crazy... :BOING: ".

So far, so good this season. Depp is now walking around while packing heat. Which is a start. Soon, he'll probably be quite the badass.

The injuns are interesting, and I can't help but think they may have some justification. We'll see.

Agreed I liked this season better then the others but this finale had too much lazy writing. High school counselor shooting 4-5 zombies in the middle of the night 20-30 feet away with a handgun is just plain silly. I was hoping that Ophelia chick would have beat her up but I guess Maddison has taken years of grappling too. She was real dopey this episode.

Eta:

random native Americans roaming the desert finding refugees is impressive too. I like all the soldiers dying immediately from anthrax as well but the kid makes it much longer then the others. Transportation machines between the ranches now so people can get back and forth right away

ETA2: now she is Rambo going back and forth and facilitating recon and sabotage missions. Against armies of former soldiers. I figure when a show decides to stretch reality they put parameters on that. Not just keep letting the snowball roll down the mountain. Gotta love the kid who takes Anthrax digging 4-5 feet into the ground the night after he consumes it. makes sense to me

You forgot strand talking to the ISS and playing guess the literary quotation on a CB radio (shortwave, but still...).

Love how the Otto guy had to be a raging racist at the end. Just so we can feel good about the noble red man/Depp taking him out. Speaking of, I was hoping one of the sons was going to headshot Maddie there at the end.

Too bad, really. It had gotten better with the writing and motivations for the characters at the last past of this season. But all two hours of this, I kept thinking how goofy and petty perpetuating this feud was (ok... Multiple homicide not that petty) compared to ... you know... the zombie apocalypse.

Btw, we're watching The Missing S2 on Starz... the governor plays a role and I keep waiting for him to put on an eye patch and act like a really badly written cartoon. Except- this isn't TWD world, so writers and all.

I enjoyed the season I guess.  But my disappointment comes from the fact that this show was billed as the backstory of the whole apocalypse. Halfway through season 2, it is basically TWD2. People fighting other people. So it just seems like MOTS.
