***OFFICIAL 'Fear The Walking Dead' Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I enjoyed the season I guess.  But my disappointment comes from the fact that this show was billed as the backstory of the whole apocalypse. Halfway through season 2, it is basically TWD2. People fighting other people. So it just seems like MOTS.
Yeah, that was the premise, but then they rushed through it after like episode 3 or 4. Now it's TWD West Coast

I binged the last view episodes last night and I would be incredibly surprised if this is picked back up.  Just bad bad writing and storytelling all around.  The native American angle they shoved down our throat at the very end was cringe worthy.

A huge complaint I have is that Madison and crew kept doing Seal team 6 type raids on the injuns and kept getting away with it.  I was stoned last night but I believe they said there were no fences around the gas station of the indians.  So where were the walkers?  Also why didnt the otto crew just ambush them?  Seems that would have been the easily solution.

"No one can sneak up on an Indian."

Yes, they said that. For real.

It was already picked up for season 4 just before season 3 aired, however they are changing the showrunners so maybe it gets better?

Also, y'all know that this was only the mid-season finale right? Still the second half of the season to go. They smartly scheduled this to break just before Game of Throne starts and it starts back after GOT's ends. However that will push TWD premiere back to close to Halloween, which would be cool for the 100th episode.

SEE YOU GUYS NEXT SEASON!
lol... I guess not.

anybody else watch the first ep?

I did. suppose I will give another shot... maybe. but so bad. like mad max beyond thunderdome at it's worst bad. or astrodome. or whatever bull-fighting stadium that was. and that lake/reservoir that the daughter cliff-jumped into last season... empty now? the zombies pull the plug on it? did we segue into The Leftovers? l think they should just get rid of the zombies and get on with the goofy human v human nonsense both WD shows want to devolve into. so many dumb writing moments in those two hours... woof.

Had to laugh EF. I finally watched it yesterday and came in to get "caught up" with the thread. Had to do a search just to find it. Discovered the same thing as you, no one cares anymore.

AlI I can say is, I watched it (in two parts while on the treadmill). I was bored. I was just sort of waiting for it to be over. Nothing that really grabbed me. Nothing exciting. And I have been saying the same thing as you for a couple years now about both this and TWD. They aren't zombie shows. They are shows with zombies. It's long been all about human conflict. I had hoped this would get me away from that as I grew tired of it in TWD. But nope, just more of the same.

The Indian narrative/subplot with the overt racism is just wayyyyyy tooooo over the top.  I mean just shoving it down our throats to the point of calling uncle.   So much bad dialogue and so many stupid side plots that make no sense.   Those dudes were going to do an assault on a  fortified house with one revolver and machetes?   WTF am I watching?   And the Indian was trading Jewels(?) for water?   Seriously wtf?  How is it possible to screw up this simple concept.  I swear to God my 11 year old could write a more engaging and realistic story then this garbage.

I got pretty wasted and watched last weeks episode on Sat night.  Still just bad bad TV.

They tried to trade Gold for water?  What in the hell am I missing here?  Also they said that the trading post was 2 days away and then they drove again longer to the damn in Tijauna.  Then the indian dude splits on foot to walk back to the ranch?  These are just some dumb dumb storylines.

forgot this was on last week couple weeks. probably time to pull the plug for me.

anybody still watching?
I fast forwarded through most of last week's episode, then cancelled the DVR series. I was in since the beginning, but this current product is so bad, and the current plotlines are not exciting. I think they messed up by moving them to the ranch. there's much more drama & excitement to be had out in civilization. even staying on the yacht and going from port to port would have been better. the ranch sucks, the characters suck, and the only possibly redeeming factor is the hot daughter, but even her character is lame.

anyway, plug pulled.

Missed the first few weeks due to Irma and not caring too much. Wife and I got caught up over the weekend out of boredom. Pretty meh so far, as expected. Last night’s episode was possibly the best episode in the whole series, which isn’t saying much, but I did actually enjoy it.

damn it. and damn you, sir.

now I feel compelled to watch again.

i had the opposite reaction.  I fast forwarded through most of it because it was boring me to tears

I just finished catching up last night.

I have a really HIGH tolerance for trash tv as I can usually find some good in most drek shows but dear god this show is bad.   Almost every non Daniel character is written so poorly.

Madison might very well be the worst written character I have ever seen.  They took all of the horrendous character traits from Jack on Lost(in terms of trying to be a god of everything) and amplified them 10 thousand fold.

had forgotten about this... thankfully.

feels good to be out.

they ruined what could've been a very interesting idea- how does society change during the initial epidemic... what does it all look like, how does it play out. they didn't even finish the first season, IIRC before turning it into the already tired US vs THEM surviving humans story-line replete with embarrassingly badly written psychos behind everything. when it was just the family at the very beginning, with druggie depp playing an interesting corollary character in the zombie/drug-addict.. there was so much possibility. but these writers/producers proved once again they're not good at the stuff past the concept.

I enjoy it.

The writing is bad but it's a zombie show so for some reason I'm able to look past it.

I stopped watching TWD when the bastards killed Glenn so this is all I have vis a vis zombies.  It's easy on the eyes and I like how they made Madison basically turn out to be psycho.

I guess I'm pot-committed to the original in spite of how stupid it got- I'm happy to let ftwd die. this one quickly turned into TWD2 electric boogaloo instead of exploring new ideas, it's just the same thing in a different location. over and over and over and over...

Have you given Z Nation a shot?  It is on Netflix.   It is much different in tone from Fear (and significantly more self aware) but I find it superior to Fear in most cases.

This was my take exactly. Kind of was going that direction with the refugee camp and some soldiers ... then they're on a boat? Lame. That's when I got out.

I predict they bring a character over from TWD next season. Maybe the "Governor"  or Abraham before he met Eugene ... and they head east.

That would bring in some viewership numbers.

Next season we will follow a scantily clad Rosita :excited: as she makes her way from Baja to Texas (where she meets Abraham) then on to Georgia

Tried but couldn't get into it.  I'm not much of a zombie guy either, but I do like post-apocalyptic stuff.

It's already been confirmed they are doing a crossover episode next season.

most likely Abraham. Houston was name dropped specifically in the season finale which is where Abraham was from.

:goodposting:

This. I was so excited by the premise of this show. They butchered it in the first season. It really just is TWD2.

Bump for the new season. So did Junkie Depp and his smoking hot sister turn bad in the time jump?

Also taking bets that Dwight shows up at the end of the season.

Missed like half (maybe all?) of the last season. Last one I remember was where the old man's house burned.  With the Morgan crossover, it piqued my interest. So I went back and watched the last ep of last season and I feel pretty caught up, except for that I didn't know who the skinny bearded guy that Alicia was traveling with was.

First ep of the new season was great! Morgan, Gunslinger guy and the hot reporter chick are interesting. I'm back in.

they weren't exactly good before.  so i'm guessing they've gone full on darkside.    she is smoking hot

I am a big fan of Garret Dillahunt but even acknowledging that, the gunslinger was a lot of fun and interesting.

I don't even mind that they are using the World War Z reporter idea for Althea.   Just nice to see two some what interesting characters.

I said in the other thread that I don't think it was a coincidence that this episode was good and that Madison'a character was not in it.  I hope the writers figured out what to do with her in the time jump.

Enjoyed the first episode.  I've been going around talking like the cowboy to people at work.  They just assume I had a stroke or something...

This isn't really fair... ZN is intentionally bad, which means it can get away with some awful writing, story lines, etc.  This past season was hot garbage.  On the other hand, they had an episode in season 1 that was really really good (Mack doing Groundhog Day trying to kill that boss zombie).  I like both of these crappy shows, though.

So FTWD is now 99% TWD with a few FTWD characters turning up in the last 30 seconds? And it's jumped forward to the same time frame as TWD? Meaning it is now just the other TWD?

Nicely done.

And..

HOWDY, Y'ALL PARDNERS!

I liked the first season of ZN. Had to stop watching after the half pot plant half person zombies that looked like puff n stuff costumes.

Just watched Sunday's episode. So, replace Rick and Hilltop with Madison and baseball stadium. Replace the Saviors with the RV Round Up guys. And we basically have two series which are pretty much the exact same thing.

week 1: Introduce two new interesting characters, have a fun interesting episode that leaves you wanting more

week 2: Kill any and all momentum by focusing on back story, again dominated by the ultra boring Madison who once again is in a lead role she is unsuited for and ignore the characters from week 1

:wall:

No, the RV guys are not going to attack.  They're just going to sit outside their gate waiting for them to either die or join them.

When RV guy was talking to Madison, he told her about the "valve" bursting at the other site where every one was killed.  I took that to mean they sabotaged the tank which caused them all to die.  I thought he was issuing a similar warning that if they stay behind the fence, the group will do something to kill them.

They may already be behind the ruining of the crops via the little girl.

Interesting they killed off the main dude. Maybe he's got a movie filming.

Thought this was a really good episode, this is far more interesting than TWD. Being on the move rather than living suburban life and warring with local tribes leads to more interesting stories
