I really hate Chris (Travis's son). He's about 1,000 worse than Walt Jr.
We need to be able to vote people off. He is 1st to go easily.
 I'll take the Boyfriend/ ex-husband at #1

"Put the gun away"

"Don't shoot my friend"

"You know how I feel about guns"

"Don't kill her, we might be able to save her".

Dad is basically Herschel.
or Dale.
That reminds me. They have a which survivor are you game on the AMC site. I got Dale, #######g Dale.

As with others I'm liking so far but not loving it. My biggest hangup was in the most recent episode when they were fleeing the Barber Shop. As they were doing so the saw a Police officer on the ground with a zombie munching on his throat. None of the rioters paid a lick of attention. Not one. I understand one of the themes of the show is "the breakdown of society" but aren't we a little early for people (even rioters) to completely ignore a man being eaten alive in the street?

Umm... You forgot this is taking place in LA. That goes on all the time.

She is also the only one who knows that sinply dying turns you into a walker. Since she witnesses an overdose with Mrs. Chan.
I didn't pick up on this.
Me either
She notices the pill bottle kind of tipped over on the table when she went back to get the shotgun shells. It freaked her out, but I wasn't exactly sure why. I don't know if they were implying an overdose with that scene.

When they notice whiny BF pulling up in the driveway, why did they go back through the ******** garden maze? Why not just run out the front door where his car is and warn him?
Asian American, please. (Couldn't resist)

I'm starting to think, like the borrowed first scene in episode 1 from 28 Days Later in the church, that the origin of the virus could be like 28 Weeks Later. The mother in 28 Weeks Later had in her an antibody that meant she had the virus, but didn't act on it, at least kept the virus dormant to a significant enough degree. Thus, she was highly guarded (well not enough, obviously) in London during the re-population effort in hopes that scientists could study here and she would lead to the cure.

I am starting to think that everyone has the virus, and that maybe Nick has the antibody that would lead to the cure since he survived what looks like the initial outbreak in the church. Outside of that, I hope that they address the "how" in that when you die, you re-animate even if not bitten by a zombie.

they should have started the timeline months before the ZA.

Season 1 would have just been a "normal" drama with the ZA starting at the very end of the season.

Thoughts?

So what's the play now by the National Guard? Do they go corden off the neighborhood and do a jumpy house by jumpy house search? Do they take the doper's family and acquaintances and put them in an internment camp until they can be checked (for bites, cuts, etc) and profiled?
Maybe we'll find out next episode.
What fun is waiting. Need some quality speculation here.
No

I love it!

Don Draper: Nostalgia - it's delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." It's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn't a spaceship, it's a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards... it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It's not called the wheel, it's called the carousel. It let's us travel the way a child travels - around an...(Rrrrrrraaaaaaaaagggggghhhhhhhh!) JESUS CHRIST! Pete, get off me Aaaaaa! Help! Harry, get em off me! Ohmygodgethimoff! (Raaaaa...munchmunchmunch)!

I am looking forward to this week, but I hope it doesn't fall into a predictable the National Guard guys are bad, we seen them making unwanted passes on the girls and the dads have to retaliate, etc With only 3 episodes left in the season, this would be a waste.

speculation:

Nat'l Guard turn into very bad men quickly, not surprising to Mr El Salvador who has seen this before. He will get them out of there and be the leader, there will be conflict between himself and wussy dad, as well as confilct between the mom and ex mom, and conflict between the children. Some of them are going to die and turn.

Still think that's where they should have gone with season 2 of True Detectives.

Interesting speculation - maybe he ends up joining the TWD cast when they finally wrap that up. Who knows.

I think it was insinuated Nick's church wasn't the initial outbreak (since it was on the news, other states, etc).

A couple notes. First, I am fairly certain they've said there will be no connection between shows. Second, I don't think the speculation makes any sense. The virus or whatever can't be in everyone at that point or we'd already have tons of zombies. I think that was the start. Also, Nick doesn't have the cure in him. He isn't a zombie because he hasn't died. I believe they were using his druggie girlfriend because it is a very easy leap to think the virus had spread to people in the church and she OD'd and then turned.

I think they are putting that church as one of the starting points. I almost think they kind of insinuate that people deeply involved in drugs is how it is starting. Think about most of the zombies we have seen, teenagers, druggies and homeless folks. Maybe a drug dealer caught it having sex with a monkey and he's spreading it through his drug dealers. Lots of druggies end up in hospitals like druggie Depp.

Go back to cdc episode from WD. I dont think they know the "how" other than it must be a genetic mutation all humans share. This is why doc says its the end times

So when do they show the national guard guy stealing the tank so he can hang out with the governor for the assault on the prison?

Once all the current zombies are destroyed, literally the only difference between our world and theirs is that you need to be afraid of people dying. Wouldn't be that difficult to rig up device that goes around people's necks and sets off an alarm when their heart stops.

Um, they are NOT insinuating that drugs and druggies started this, at all.

At what point do you people get it through your head that NOTHING "STARTED" IT!!!!

It simply "just started". It happened. It began. There was no cause. There is no cure. There is no ground zero. And it sure as #### did not begin in that church and then spread to the rest of the country in minutes.

Also, whoever mentioned that the neighbor overdosed and now they know that "everyone has it". No, just no. Jesus Christ no.

It's just a plot device...Pandora's box.

At best you'll learn what the cause is as the series wraps up...but you won't know for sure anytime before that.

A little tired of the "evil military and corrupt shadow government" trope. Maybe try the well intentioned troops but due to circumstances, they fail. Would like to root for the military in one of these shows for once.

good call with this. Way overkill with the scene of the lead NG guy hitting golf balls with the squirrelly dad emotionally strained because his friend wasn't there.

:goodposting:

I'm enjoying the show, and this criticism isn't meant to be "OMG this show suxor -- can't wait to watch next week so I can rip it again!!1!" That said, I told my son as soon as the soldiers showed up that now the real villains have arrived, and sure enough they went right along with the standard cliche. I wouldn't have a problem with this plot device if we were a year or so into the future, when everybody has gone into full survival-at-all costs mode and stray groups of military personnel might not be any better than anybody else, but it just isn't credible that we go straight to Latin American death squads with no intermediate stages. It's also not credible, even by the rules of the genre, that the entire population of LA just quietly disappears except for this one little neighborhood without anybody knowing what happened.

Still, it's an entertaining Sunday night and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when the military camp inevitably gets overrun.

Granted I was pretty drunk and not paying a ton of attention but did the soldiers explain the safe zones? Seems like I heard something about it in the background. I would have thought by now there would be huge hordes of zombies in the city roaming or did they say they were killing everything in certain zones? thanks

I got the feeling they have designated unsafe zones and are probably assuming ALL THOSE people who are in an unsafe zones are infected and they are going in killing them.

I dug it. Doc basically figuring out anyone that is a potential threat and removing them so they don't have an outbreak in the community. Gotta have some reason for the community to go to #### and leave the compound I guess.

If you're going to question credibility then maybe try paying attention. This is one of 8 or 9 safe zones in just this one area of LA.

I think he said it was one of 12 south of some line. So, presumably, there's quite a few all over.
