There's a chain of events described in that Atlantic article that are just spectacular.  Trump Foundation solicits a donation from a different foundation based in New Jersey because they want to give a big gift to the police in Florida.  Other org donates $150K.  Then the Trump Foundation donates $150K to the Palm Beach Police Foundation.  The police foundation is so moved by the gift they give Trump an award for it.  Gala for award presentation is hosted at Mar-a-Lago, which was rented out for the event for over $200K.  

So the Trump Foundation took a donation from someone else, passed it off as their own money, got an award for it, and collected business revenue in excess of the charitable gift someone else gave.

I can see how a Trump supporter would not see this as a negative. Those are the actions of someone who clearly knows how the system works and how to manipulate it for their own gain.. I don't respect the motives or the deception involved, but as a connoisseur of heist movies I have respect for his ability to pull it off.

Based upon that standards you and the rest of our liberal posters used in the Clinton email scandal, I am going to ask you if The Donald himself has been criminally charged in any of this?

If not, you simply cannot use any of this as any kind of proof - implicit OR explicit - of wrongdoing.  You need to assume that The Donald is innocent and truthful.  Again - THESE are the standards your side put forth to determine innocence or guilt.  You cannot use innuendo, theories, blog posts, history of "where there is smoke there is fire", news articles or anything else.  We need criminal charges and nothing else.

I think you're right. Frankly this stuff doesn't interest me. I'd much rather focus on what Trump has said and proposed in terms of this campaign.

 
Does an action need to be criminal for a person to think it is wrong?

Does a person have to be a Clinton supporter to think Trump lacks integrity?

Does a person have to be a Trump supporter to think Clinton lacks integrity?

What if I think a person is guilty but was able to buy their innocence in one form or another?

What is my side?  I've never voted for Hillary, never contributed to one of her campaigns, never even donated to the Clinton Foundation.  

It seems you're working awfully hard to make this black-and-white without proof, reason, or even need to do so.  I see a lot of gray area here, and a lot of other people do, too.

Don't forget the part where Tim blames said 13 year old for being raped because she was provocatively dressed and a tramp to begin with.

Although his defense of Roman Polanski was abhorrent and disgusting, in Tim's case, it's also illuminating with respect to the extent of his hero-worship, which is highly instructive and adds perspective to his behavior in this thread.  He has a pattern of taking the side of a person he admires and then, when presented evidence of serious wrong-doing, he defends him/her to the point of blaming others, regardless the seriousness of the indiscretion.  

(Also, I am aware Tim has since tried to apologize for writing what he did, but if you go back and look at his original quote on the matter, you'll find--like Hillary--the apology is inadequate, as it evades the substance of the original act/comment.)

Really I don't want all or nothing. I don't want or expect total victories, even though I'm an idealist. To me Hillary being interviewed by the FBI and her emails recovered and released in the coming year will be enough. I'd also be happy to see a Democratic Come to Jesus moment about Hillary and Blumenthal, an acknowledgement of how they operate, Tim, Squiz & Tommy haven't commented but I know they've seen the information from McClatchy's bureau chief, basically it was the same MO of what they did to Lewinsky. They've done it to others and they will try to do it to others in the WH. I'm fine with the policies but this is who they are. The Truth will out.

Just for the record Bruce, I love your "You can't say this/that to" threads, they're funny. 

So even though I guess we might not see eye to eye on politics, I would vote for you anyways. 

Just think about Trump, it'll keep the other 500+ in line. If there's a better idea I'm all ears.

I have written about this many times and I'm not going to do so again, except to correct you one point: I am not, and have never been, a fan of Roman Polanski's, and that includes when I wrote that post.

In a vacuum, no; but when you couple it with spreading pictures of Obama in Somali garb, have a campaign strategy to paint Obama as not fundamentally American and shop stories about him attending a Madrassa and being born in Kenya to various news outlets, like Hillarys team did, that it's certainly looks racist.

But I'll tell you, Sand, the fact that Donald Trump is this close to the Presidency has ME panicking. I think panic is a reasonable response at this point for any rationally minded person.

The fact that we have a frontrunner who's legacy is one of abject failure at every turn doesn't make me panic, it just makes me sad.  We're kind of used to it by now.

Hillary is incapable, thus far, of dispelling the argument that she is "just as bad." She's weak by any metric that ignores base political peddling.
