Official ** KODI ** streaming thread (tips, help, add ons, etc) (1 Viewer)

I've read this and, since I can't find my TV's manual (it's a 2 yr old Aquos), entirely unsure how to utilize that...certainly I could google it, though

Attempting to figure all this out is somewhat depressing, knowing how far behind I am and that my 3 yr old daughter will soon be more advanced than I
Lol, it's funny how cable made us forget how to use a tv.

HD antenna (you will have to buy one of those) to the coax on your tv. Use the remote to make sure it's on that input then - settings - scan for channels..done

Any ideas how I get CBS for games this weekend?

I have Roku with sling.

Looks like CBS is not in the streaming party.

Is it somewhere simple and I am missing it or do I need to pay for a CBS app?
DirectvNow, all the others are select markets only. Or OTA antenna if you're in range.

ETA: yes there is a stand alone  CBS all access app too.

this service was working great via Kodi last weekend - this is a stand alone pathway, haven't tried it sans Kodi yet, but, lots offered there

Cool.

I think this was my next step after cutting cord.

Assume I have network issues where I can't get internet would the antenna still work?
You'll probably have to pay more for the offline antennas since most antennas now require an ever present internet connection.

Sorry ;)  Yes it will work.  Do you not remember antennas?  You must be one of those millenials!

Lol...im not but I'm at that cusp of feeling like technology is passing me bye.

Welp, Terrarium successfully installed, a HD antenna for the locals (and a ##### ton of Latin soap opera channels; which, ya know, ain't all that bad with hot chicas running around in their under britches constantly), Hulu and Netflix...don't miss cable one bit

Just installed Terrarium and Mobdro on my new firestick.I don't think I am even going to mess with Kodi. Calling Directv next week to tell them I'm done.

Terrarium was awesome. Then up and down a lot. Been mostly terrible lately. I wouldn't do it just yet. Kodi was initially good. Then got too bugy and slow. Went to Terrarium. Now back to Kodi. That's how it goes.

Kodi is the better bet, imo - those devs and devotees are much more passionate and proactive - plenty of deep web tech folk keepin' that baby humming - it's their calling.

so if I have kodi installed on a device, all I have to do is follow those instructions?

ETA: what is Krypton 17?
Krypton is a build of Kodi... Those instructions would still work, as you are just adding an add-on to Kodi, but you may have to click around the menus to find exactly what it's telling you, if you have another build or just the baseline Kodi installation.

I am having trouble with Real-Debrid.  Even though I set the authorization through the URL resolver, I have to go to realdebrid.com/device and enter the code it every time I try to search for something.  This never used to happen before my premium membership expired and I had to pay for the next few months.

once you jump through the code hoop, go directly to the url resolver - find the RD tab, and go to "reset my authorization" - click - done.

Thanks, but I have done that a few times and it just doesn't want to stick for me.
have you done it in that order? go to RD to enter the code, then do "reset authorization"?  its not gonna work if not done in those two steps.

if still not working, clear cache and providers, and go again

heads up for maintenance issues - was using Ares Wizard for quite some time, even to install new addons ... they vanished, so recently switched to Goodfellas 2.0 for all clean up work.   had a pretty significant backlog of packages and thumbnails built up, and, since the Wizard went down, had no options to purge ... did so with G'fellas, and improved functionality quite impressively - on Neptune Rising i am now bagging close to 500 HD scrapes - clear cache/providers/packages/thumbnails - if you have RD it is important to note that after these steps you may need to reset authorization - this is done simply by going to 'accounts', finding RD, and then clicking said command.

the addon also features the usual grab bag of entertainment options we are used to seeing from top notch providers, lotta stuff to choose from - but the "tools" section is the keeper here to assist in keeping your Kodi humming along smoothly.

Mine is basically a poor man’s NAS.  1 3TB HDD connected to USB 3 and 1 2TB HDD connected to USB 2 on a sweet Asus router.  Router and my android boxes do the work.  NAS was too much effort and cost for me.

I have DirecTV, so this is more of a supplement. Anyways, I've had a FireTV in my living room for the last year which has been great, so I just added a fire stick in my bedroom. One issue with the stick is the processing power is lower, so if you're using a VPN, it really can make speeds an issue. My stick with no VPN is over 100mbps, but when I use the VPN it drops all the way down to 8-20mbps, which can be a huge PITA with buffering on the lower end of that.

Anyways, regardless - I only installed one add-on and couldn't be happier, I don't need all this build bull#### when the primary watching on this stick is movies. Covenant, with Real-Debrid is all I really need :moneybag:  If your main purpose is just movies, that is all you need, IMO.

Incursion - gotta get this up into your Kodi experience, it's killing it right now

Covenant is no longer being maintained, so a dev forked it to this latest version, under new name.

outstanding scrapes, quality feeds, all the TV/Movie goodies here in full - transparent dev, he's been keeping a very high profile over on reddit, and is a very active cat when it comes to keeping this addon fresh/updated/drama free.

installation Here, just clicky repository Incursion -

TVAddons is back, and also offering it via Github ... but the dev originally offered up in provided link.

happy streaming, y'all

Thanks for keeping us current.

OTA, Terrarium and Reddit for live sports.   Haven't felt the need to touch Kodi for a long time.

No, it's an app for android devices. Check it out in the Google's.
So I took and wiped a firestick and and a the new Amazon bigger than a firestick but smaller than an android box with Terrarium and I have to say I'm impressed. Loads wicked fast and plenty of HD Streams both TV and Movies. Really all I need until NFL season so I'm in 7th heaven.

Now I need to give my Comcast  supplied router/modem an upgrade. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is Terrarium really all that? I’ve heard/read a ton of mixed reviews. I got tired of builds crapping out and have been using Fantastic exclusively for the past few months. It’s pretty fast and reliable. Is Terrarium that much better?

I have been using Terrarium and real debrid for the last few weeks.  I have only used it for movies but it works great.

Arris Surfboard modems are the favorite in the cut the cable thread.  Use whatever router you want, I like TP Link products, a lot of people are fans of Asus.

I'm sure you'll hear from the experts in here, but from a one day user who had boucoup headaches with numerous Kodi builds, I can say so far it's great. If you don't need access to a ton of different content then it seems less is more. Terrarium seems to be a smaller package and have less going on in the back ground.

Just my 2 cents

I have a fire stick in the basement that the kids use for Netflix and amazon, but doesn’t get used too much otherwise. I’m going to wipe it and try it out on that and see how it goes. Thanks ?

It's what I wanted Kodi to be.  It's limited - movies and TV shows only, nothing live or sports, but it's great.  I run it on the cheap $40 Fire tablet and a Fire TV with no problems.

Got a firebox last last January and love it, we are going to/thinking about getting another 1 or 2 for the basement and/or bedroom. Is there any problems with the new generation fireboxes? I see the price is cheaper, but I just want to load up a build or Terrarium tv and stream movies or shows.
