** Official Marvel's Iron Fist ** (coming March 17) (1 Viewer)

Just finished. I enjoyed it. There are definitely some pretty awesome fight scenes, and I liked the story. Just one question:

I didn't understand why Joy was meeting with Davos. When did she decide she hated Danny?

I enjoyed it. Wasn't the greatest, with the main character being so naive, but overall enjoyable. I loved the JJ reference, I think in the 8th episode. Joy says she hired a PI that was really expensive. She was worth every penny, when she was sober.

Positives:

  • Coleen was hot
  • Claire had some great lines for comic relief
  • "You are the worst Iron Fist ever"
  • Faramir played a pretty good villian
Negatives:

  • Danny's Character didn't seem to evolve; too whiney
  • Storyline got a little too confusing; no clear definition of who is good and who is evil (maybe this is intentional).

I think this was definitely intentional.  Growing up in K'un-Lun, Danny was taught that the people there were good and the Hand was evil.  It was always that way, there was never any middle ground.

Back out in the "real" world, he starts to see that's not true.  Everyone has some good and some evil to them (except maybe Claire, who was like his conscience).  You can't just paint everyone with a black or white brush based on who they associate themselves with.

I'm a big Marvel fan but this was a huge disappointment for me. I posted in the Marvel thread that Finn Jones just isn't a strong enough actor to carry a show. At his best he was competent; at worst downright amateurish. Wasn't overly impressed with most of the fight scenes. The villains were boring. I was surprised at how there was no real character evolution for Danny at all. He pretty much ended the season the same guy he was at the start. I never read any Iron Fist comics but is he supposed to be the baddest martial artist on the planet? I'm assuming he carries major powers. Danny spent nearly the entire season getting beaten and never showing any powerful evolution of strength. "You are the worst Iron Fist" may have been a joke but it was a good call even at the end. He just seemed rather incompetent for a superhero.

Still looking forward to The Defenders a lot. I think it's possible Iron Fist can be a more compelling character if he's part of an ensemble. Finn Jones was pretty good in Game of Thrones as a supporting character so not ruling out that he could do well in The Defenders if he isn't asked to be a dominant lead.

Liked the Colleen Wing character a lot. She was easily the best part of the season.

Finished it and it's the worst of the Defender shows (Daredevil>Jessica Jones>Luke Cage>>Iron Fist).

Iron Fist seemed like big baby. He's naive/stupid and had lame tantrums/flashbacks. He was totally unlikable. It also didn't help that Finn Jones looks like he hasn't touched a weight in his life. He was the skinniest guy of all the male characters. No charisma, no physical presence.

The dialogue as a whole was terrible.....pretty much every Danny and Colleen convo seemed like straight out of a soap opera.

Madame Gu? was great as always, Colleen Wing is hot, and it was cool to see them tie in the other shows with Hogarth, the PI Joy hired, and Claire.

I finished it last night and this is pretty much how I feel about it. Finn isn't a horrible actor but they should have cast an actual martial artist as the fight scenes were very disappointing. He's supposed to be the living weapon but has trouble beating up 1 or 2 guys?! daredevil and Elektra took out like 20+ hand guys in less time than it took Danny and Colleen to beat 5.

2 episodes in, not loving it yet.  Weird to see Faramor as a bad guy.
Totally missed he was Faramir.  All I kept seeing was Carl, Hugh Jackmon's monk sidekick in Van Helsing

Agree with most of this.  Didnt care too much about the physical presence part.  Didn't take anything away for me.

Enjoyed the season enough so I am not down on it.  Wasn't as good as the others.  Not sure they could have topped DD for me anyway.

Looking forward to Defenders and how they get them all together.

I loved it. Loved Danny's struggle. Loved the tie-ins. Loved all the characters, really. Loved the twists. You guys notice Ward's caller I'd for his dad? Frank Stein. Lol. Loved the dad coming back to life after being brain dead.

Agree with much of what's written above.

Big hit was ninja girl and the funky song in the episode 12. That #### is dope.

Hm.  Good comments above.  Now I haven't even started this yet, but no joy for Jessica Stroup as Joy?  (She's Joy, right?)  She's smoking hot and a pretty good performer as well.

You forgot the middle initial. Frank N. Stein.

Good lord this show is absolutely horrendous. The main actor is a farce. Clearly has no martial arts training and just has zero charisma or screen presence. His acting is rough to watch. The fights are painful to watch. The writing is pretty brutal. So many atrocious aspects of this show. Major oof in virtually every aspect. So, so, so very bad.

Finished it. Overall I liked it. Liked the overall plot. All of the non-Danny characters carried the show. Love Coleen Wing and think her actress did a good job. Claire is awesome, steals most of the scenes that she's in. Fights were overall a bit meh compared to some of the other shows.

I thought Iron Fist was better than the last half of Luke Cage. But not as good as the first half of Luke Cage.
Yea but butter than all of Jessica Jones.

I said this somewhere else, but it seems like the second half of all if these marvel shows have been worse than their first halves.

Funny this just got bumped. With all of the bad press, I put this off until yesterday. Im through 5 episodes and love it. I would rank it behind both DD seasons but before JJ. Luke Cage still last.

Now this could all fall apart as I continue, but really enjoying. Not to mention that the girls are pretty hot. Really digging the daughter of the dragon and Im not usually into Asian chicks

I know I'm loving it too. Love the brother sister and father characters. Love colleen wing. Danny is a bad actor but doesn't bother me. Lots of mystery.

Finished. No idea what you guys upthread are even talking about. Main actor was fine. Show was real good and is either after DD1 or before it as my #2 after DD2.

Hope there is a season 2.

Davos is the whiny #####, not Danny. Talk about taking your ball and joining the other side  bc your feelings got hurt.
Loser

It actually  makes me want to learn king fu. Not the fighting  stuff. I'm too old for that. But the tai chi stance stuff. I need to channel my chi

I've actually been ####### around with it since I watched this. I like it.  :oldunsure:

The drunken style fight was awesome. Finally finished this and enjoyed it. Would still put it second last ahead of Luke cage. And colleen is hot.

Tai chi blows.  Every move has an associated farce about improving your spleen or clearing your liver.

Watched the first season with the wife.  I thought the premise going in was pretty lame about a super-hero who's only super-ability is that he can punch through a wall.  Rather ho-hum.  Perhaps that put me off when I watched it. The show kind of limps along throughout.

While I knew the female lead was a Sandsnake from Game of Thrones, I didn't realize until today that Finn (the Iron Fist) was Ser Loras Tyrell.

Wow! I did not put that together either. I guess because he has such a stupid haircut in Iron Fist.

I couldn't stand the brother in the first five or so episodes, but by the end of the first season I had actually grown to like him  (from an acting/character development side).

it was pretty ok but it could have used a lot and i mean a lot more monster trucks take that to the car squashin bank bromigos

Season 2 was really good, finished very strong.

Anyone know why the fist manifests in different colors?  From comic lore or something?  I'm really curious about that but can't find anything on it.

Don't know about the comic, but I'm guessing it's something to do with their chi. Red (Davos) for evil. White (Colleen) for purity. Orange for... maybe a mix of both? :tinfoilhat:

just watched episode 1 season 2 so he can put his fist into an armored car and knock the engine out of it.  But he can't beat up a guy(brother), or punch threw a metal door?  hope it gets better.

Davos isn't evil, he's just ridiculously firm with his beliefs.

Colleen is far from pure.  Heck, she grew up in the Hand.

Danny's is yellow.  No clue why.

Awesome season. Such strong and deep characters. All developed so well. Cool stories. You haters are crazy.

Iron Fist cancelled.

The first Marvel drama has been canceled at Netflix.

Iron Fist, the fourth in the original four-show deal between the streaming giant and Disney's Marvel, will not return for a third season.

"Marvel's Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on," reps for Netflix and Marvel said in a statement to THR late Friday.

i did not get the ending of the last episode it wsa so hacky it sort of felt like an 80s movie they might as well made the iron fist laroosh light up john candys pants to win a sailboat race while they fixed up a beach restaurant in the time of just one montage song but hey i guess it had its moments take that to the bank brochachos

I think they should do both a Heroes for Hire and a Daughters of the Dragon show.

I assume these characters will still be under contract to show up in other related shows.

Too bad.  I liked season 2 better then 1 and thought the ending gave s3 some promise to it.

I would have to think this is in the plans in some form.  I liked Danny's involvement in LC2 and would have to believe Defenders 2 and more crossovers at least.....

I think they can continue the shows they already have, but any new shows would have to go to Disney's new streaming service.
