From ROH's Best in the World last night:

Eli Drake has now signed with ROH and substituted for NWA National Champion Colt Cabana in a tag team match with Nick Aldis against the Briscoes.

Flip Gordon turned heel by joining Villain Enterprises.

Someone named Maria Maniac appeared after the Allure v. Klein/Rose match to work over the Allure.

James Storm showed up to ROH tonight in Philly. I was going to go to this as it's at the 2300 Arena AKA ECW Arena but chose to stay home and watch FyterFest. I honestly can go to ROH Tapings like 10 times or more a year if I really want to considering they are here so much.

Bucks&Omega vs Lucha Bros and Laredo kid was great. moves on top pf mves

Unsanctioned time. Lets get to my favorite type of match with Mox vs Janela

Initial impressions in regards to Fyter Frest/AEW from a current part time WWE watcher who grew up with Gordon Solie and TBS Georgia Wrestling.....

WWE has better in ring talent.  WWE has better production values.  Aside from the blood(which I don't need), what I think AEW has ALL OVER WWE is that it understands that the fan wants their wrestlers to have, at the least..... the apperance of a legitimate personality.

Last night, I felt more personally connected ( as stupid as that can sound coming from a grown ### man about a scripted, fake sporting event)to Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Mox,...even Joey Janela, Pentagon Jr. and Darby Allin...than pretty much anyone in the WWE since I started watching it again a few years back.  They gave you a good story thru their moves, their reaction to the moves against them (injuries actually counted), the reaction of the announcing team and the little moments( be it mouthing stuff to the camera and in ring moments like Omega/Pentagon Jr.)that they had to display their personalities.

If I were a betting man...I'm still betting on WWE.  But, I think they've lost a lot of goodwill and loyalty in regards to the hardcore fan.  If AEW gets another couple of top level guys (be it by building them up or signing them)...they'll make waves for the next 10 years.  Worst case scenario for them right now is if one of their Big Four gets hurt for any extended period of time.

According to brad Sheppard Sasha Banks was offered a multi year deal this past weekend

According to a source in #WWE, the company offered Sasha Banks a multi-year, seven-figure deal this weekend.

I'm with you. Used sparingly, just like blood, can work extremely well.
The issue is a lot of guys today Don't know how to properly take them. According to Khan/Bucks and others the chair used was gimmicked. Looking at the replay Spears looks like didn't angle the chair correctly and the edge of the chair got more of Cody's side of the head then what was suppose to

I thought it was protected but I could be wrong.

I'm wondering how Cody manage to blade the back of his head.
It wasn't protected and the blood was from the actual chair. The Chair was gimmicked

Blue Meanie had a tweet this morning confirming what you said.

Brian and I think a like. I'm decent friends with him just from frequently going to Indy shows and he knows Sandman and I share a few broskies once in awhile at a local watering hole since Jim lives in my area. Not close but when I see him at a wrestling show locally in Philly he always says whats up and ask how family is and all. He works and trains wrestlers at Monster factory in NJ. Bailey SUperFan Izzy won for her 13th Birthday got some free training at the school and WWE and ROH have used the school students as Extras including NXT.

Thoughts on FyterFest

Pre Show.

Besides the last 2 matches I missed most of it. Thought the Main card started at 8 and not 830

Pre Show Match

Naka vs The Gamer guy was ok. Could do without the baby oil stuff Already played out by the disgrace of wrestling Joey Ryan. Producer looked decent in the ring but heard he runs a semi pro wrestling promotion with gamers and involved in wrestling sometimes

Allie vs Leva Bates: Decent match not huge on the Library gimmick but Bates in that Outfit lets just a tent is being pitched somewhere

3 way Tag match was fun. Love Best Friends and Baretta is so underrated. Loved him and Rocky when they teamed

Main Card

Daniels vs Cima. Don't know much on Cima but it was impressive. Daniels always kills it. Surprised Cima won but do to him facing Omega in a few weeks think you need to make him look strong

Nyla Rose vs. Riho vs. Yuka Sakazaki

Not that it matter but had zero idea up until a few weeks ago Rose is Transgendered. I was happy AEW didn't try to shove it down our throats like WWE probably would've tried. She was impressed along with the other girls.

Hangman Page vs. MJF vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Jungle Boy

I have yet to see a lot of Jungle boy or MJF but MJF kills it on the mic. Best heel in Wrestling outside of Jericho. Hagman is one for the future. WWE will eventually get their hands on hm though. Jimmy Havoc is always cool. Cannot wait to see some hardcore stuff involving Havoc and Moxley when they finally cross paths. What bloody heavenly joy that is gonna be

Cody vs Darby Allin. Ive not see a lot on Darby but I love the make up of this kid. Got a nice character and love the misfit type face paint. Really impressed. Spears after the match going after Cody makes sense. Chair shot was great just missed on the angle like a I said. People shouldn't be giving AEW all that much heat for it. Obvious accident.

Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Brothers & Laredo Kid

The Elite coming out as Street Fighters was pretty cool. What can I really say abut these two teams that hasn't been said already? phenomenal match. I'd hate to have Micheal Cole try to pronounce half the moves that these guys put on. I love JR but I think throwing Joey Styles calling these moves old school ECW would've been amazing. Laredo Kid and Lucha Bros are incredible talented. Bucks are this generations Hardys.

Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela

I think I died and went to Hardcore Heaven. It was not the greatest match ever but for Moxley's first style of this match in this extent it was really good couldn't have asked for more. Loved the barbed wire touch. Could've used a few more weapons. Was hoping for some sheet rock, a baking pan, stop sign, and a kendo stick in there. Beggers can't be chosers and we did get blood. This will be the most extreme thing we will see over the next month. Even with Extreme Rules WWE in Philly the birth place of ECW its gonna be embarrassing compared to what these two put their bodies through. Ive seen better Hardcore type matches live from Moxley when in CZW however again this was great. Awesome touch at the end with Kenny coming out and Moxley smiling. Funniest part this whole match was when Mox took the barbed wire wrapped stair and stood on Janela with it and the Fans chanted you sick ####. He then goes over the ropes and takes a bow at the apron like dam right I am thank you for the compliment. Laughed my ### off

Overall for a free PPV it was good. Some people saw pics of empty seats and tapped off sections. I think they are blowing it out of proportions. One they did the PPV at a Gaming Convention that is there routinely. Hotel and other expenses were probably doubled. With Fyterfest a FREE TO WATCH STREAM event Im sure some people said screw I'm not paying overcharge expenses when I can watch at home for free. Also to remind people All Out sold out in what 30 mins. Double or Nothing 15 and All out 2 should out in 4 mins? I don't think AEW is having PPV attendance issues. Just WWE marks butthurt. I'm by no means an AEW mark on this, but more so using common sense.

This Mike Maria preggo thing.  What in the blue hell was that?  Who are these people and why does she want to have Becky's baby?

It went back to how it's been literally right after this. Nothing interesting at all about this show. The Heyman/Eric news was just a stunt (again) to pull in ratings.
Yeah thats what Brad Sheppard wrote literally. Opening segment amazing then it became the the typical boring predictable 6 man tag again. Heyman/Bischoff aren't starting for another month anyway. The News was just a PR stunt for ratings. I saw that The Club is back together which I'm happy for and Styles is the US champ.

Mke and Maria in real like are awesome people. Mike Bennet was part of The Kingdom in ROH along with his good friend Matt Taven and forget the other original member. Maria was a WWE Diva in the midsized 2000s at the end of Ruthless Aggression and starting PG ERA. She played in a story line with Santino Marella (Who I've heard is a douch backstage) the guy who beat UMAGA for the US title in Milan on a RAW (He's technically an Italian from Canada) where she was his GF and he was jealous of her for stuff. She ended up being one of the last women in WWE to be on the cover of Playboy. I always liked it from a storyline standpoint. Yeah it was cheap but it provided the with one more storyline back then. Maria is a decent wrestler too. She's the girl in the GIF of Styles and Gallows/Anderson in Bullet Club in Japan where she gets on the ring apron and Anderson is being flirting with her and then Gallows joins in and then AJ tries to make them  get back in the match but Maria shows her ####. The little segment was pretty funny and then Bennet and the other two they are wrestling hit them from behind to resume the match

Styles is the US champ.
Think you changed the channel 5 mins too quick. They restarted the match after the false finish cause Ricochet had his foot under the rope and they went about some corny replay review crap like the NFL (of course just window dressing to take another commercial and stop the match), but then they came back for 5 mins and Ricochet retained his belt.

They don't start for another month.
That's what I heard From Shepperd and others. Just another PR stunt by WWE. And I heard it went back to the same boring predictable #### right after that. The segment there was only to people to tune in and RAW is getting a new set from what I heard over the weekend. Both RAW/SDL will have new sets SDL won't Come till FOX debut

I didn't even watch last night. I just saw it on twitter I saw Ricochet retained so I thought the match was restarted and Styles won the second time

Seth apologized to Will Osprey for using bank accounts during their twitter war. He still got in another I'm the best in the world and how great WWE is. I heard many of his peers were upset with the comment though from in and outside the company and it's one of the only reasons he's apologizing to Will. It's a low blow and not an option to use when trying to argue the job. It's insulting to these guys who work their asses for less $$$ in other companies. He won't get in trouble because he's a one of HHH's boys but I wouldn't be surprised if Hunter or someone like 'Taker pulled him aside and gave him a talking too and told him to apologize. The apology is bull#### as I can read between the lines of the tweet. He uses the typical "I know when I sent it, it was wrong and I'm just stubborn" comment.

Yoshiaki Yatsu had his leg amputated.

Yatsu was originally an amateur wrestler in the Olympics, competing in the 1976 Olympic Games. Wanting to compete in the 1980 games, Japan joined the United States in boycotting the Moskow-hosted event. He eventually joined the pro wrestling scene, garnering a lot of attention. Yatsu was a member of both the New Japan and All Japan Pro Wrestling rosters, along with a few brief stints in the United States. In his wrestling career, Yatsu has won the NWA, International, PWF World, AJPW and IWA World Tag Team Titles. He also won the Super World of Sports Tag Team Titles along with the WCCW Television Title. One of his big moments in the eyes of American fans was wrestling Hulk Hogan for the then-WWF Title.
ETA: From Wikipedia -

In 1986 Yatsu took a hiatus from professional wrestling in order to one last time chase his Olympic dream. However, after winning a Japanese National Championship in the super heavyweight division in 1986 and while training for the 1987 Asian Wrestling Championships, the International Olympic Committee declared that Yatsu was a professional athlete and banned him from not only that competition, but also from the 1988 Summer Olympics. The decision stunned many people, but Yatsu didn't file an appeal.
It's still real to the IOC. :lmao:
