Anyone watching Fight for the Fallen tonight? AEW is really the only wrestling I'm watching right now, so I get pretty excited even for these mid-card PPVs.
I am I've been in and out might have to rewatch this again at some point. You should really watch an NJPW event if you haven't already. Also very entertaining and Kevin Kelly is a great commentator.

Yes! At the start! Everyone in the room was going crazy trying to figure it out lol.
I had a few issues with a black screen but it was mostly when I wasn't connected to wifi. I'm at home but dog sitting for my brother and had to walk him. Had some issues during walk after I got home issues stopped.

Kenny/Cima is best match I've seen in a considerable amount of time. I was on the edge of my seat the entire 2nd half of that match. They really stole the show tonight.

Also, it's a damn shame Luchasaurus is stuck in that dead end gimmick, because that dude should be in the Heavyweight title scene. Has the body, has the move set. I don't think I've ever seen a guy that size able to locate kicks like a cruiserweight like he was doing tonight. I was just like  :o

AEW really needs to improve their announce team. JR is a lot slower and just lifeless. Really has no business but calling an occasional match here and there. There can be a spot in AEW for him...it just shouldn't be as regular announcer. The other guy is even far worse

I think JR is still fine. I think it's just he seems a bit quieter to me because obviously he doesn't (and never will) have the chemistry with these guys like Jerry. And I think it's tough for a guy his age to work with 2 new guys, one who doesn't know #### about wrestling, and another color guy who's probably 30 years younger than him. The biggest put off for me with JR now is all the old-timey references and the comments that start with stuff like "in my day..."

Excalibur or Marvez? I think JR was brought in because he still wanted to do some announcing and he's known as an announcer. Similar to why Justin Roberts in the ring announcer. More fans know them

Fun fact on Justin Roberts: Roberts had an SI interview after being released by WWE. He told the story on the whole cancer patient Connor The Crusher he developed a very close relationship with him. They would FaceTime and Roberts would show him some of the WWE action from ring side on his phone. Use to call and text the kid. Connor was a huge Daniel Bryan fan so Roberts did his best to get a meeting between the two. I forget many of the other details but basically instead of letting Roberts have his own moment they basically threw him out of the entire thing and put Daniel Bryan as the face. WWE made no mention of the relationship for the Warrior award to Connor's family how Roberts was very involved from the beginning and put all the support beyond Bryan. The incident isn't Daniel's faul more so WWE's pettiness that an employee got something started with a fan and got everything set up. When word got around the IWC and all WWE took over for the whole PR stunt using Bryan. Just goes to show you WWE cares very little about some of their employees. It was a touching moment for Roberts and Connor and WWE took that away from hm that personal relationship. Shortly after that I believe was when Roberts asked for his release.

Roberts btw isn't lying either. I got this confirmed by a couple of people and 2 said it wasn't surprising and WWE management is known for doing that if they see a positive PR spin for it.

I love Jim Ross.  J.R. was already my favorite announcer ever even before he went to the WWF in ‘93, and he just cemented his legacy as the best ever during his WWF tenure.  With that said, I agree with your J.R. criticism.

I listen to a lot of wrestling podcasts.  When I listen to J.R.’s podcast  I like His knowledge, but it’s hard not to notice that he doesn’t have the energy of a Jim Cornette or even a Bruce Prichard.

Sometimes it’s better to leave great memories and experiences from the past in the past rather than try to relive them and taint them.

I've always heard about the Okada and Jericho matches, just haven't got around to them.
Those are some really good matches. Naito and Jericho is also good. I haven't gotten around to watching anything of NJPW Jericho from back in the day yet but it is on NJPWWorld. I've watched most of his WCW stuff. I'm missing pieces of watched content from his WWF/E. I stopped watching shortly after the Invasion angle ended and before Cena Debuted or Brock. I actually missed his feud with Christian to but saw the Undisputed title stuff in the beginning. I cameback to watching WWE shortly after Wrestlemania Umaga Vs Trashley Trump/McMahon feud and Vince got his head shaved. I was in college so I would say April or May of that year because Jericho came back in Sept. Shortly after that I found TNA on Spike when it was still a 1 hour show. They were doing a program on TNA previewing the X Division which I thought was pretty cool. Around that time Angle/Sting/Stiener/Nash/Joe/Booker T/Kazarian's wife Tracie Brooks etc. I think the first Impact episode I saw in full was the night M.E.M took over the show and took over the production truck as well. I only started watching it because it was another wrestling show and Angle and Sting and Booker T and some others I knew were there.

This was around the time I first heard of NJPW as they had a partnership with TNA back then and The Dudley's were IWGP Heavyweight Tag Champs. NJPW ended their partnership with TNA do to their handling of a then unknown Kazuchika Okada who TNA had teamed with Samoa Joe as a camera man following Dinero AKA Elijah Burke in ECW/WWE version new breed to expose him. NJPW was not happy how Okada was used. In American wrestling there's characters and TNA people told Okada he needed a character. This is how his whole Rainmaker Character came about. People associated with TNA tried to repair the relationship to no avail. However they personally apologized to Okada. Around this time a young tag Team called Generation Me came to TNA AKA The Young Bucks. And I will say they had a hell of a 5 series match with Motor City Machine Guns which after leavingTNA and going back to ROH rebooted the rivalry again. This was around the same time I found out ROH was still in existence. Granted I knew a few people who had worked there or continue too but was not aware the company still existed as they had started touring more and shows weren't advertised as much in Philly anymore. This was also around the time I learned about Adam Cole and where he was from. A friend of mine working the shows comp me tickets with a buddy for a show and I met Cole which shortly after we hit it off and became pretty good friends. It wasn't until maybe 2015 I saw my first NJPW event which was WrestleKingdom and fell in love with the content

That's just Cornette being a lunatic. The dude seems to hate on everyone and everything. He's made some comments about WWE and whipped out his um member at a show. Him and Satino Marella got into an altercation at a fan event. The podcaster I listen to tried to get them both on the show even offering them $$$ if that's what it took. Santino respectfully declined. Cornett went after the podcaster like an idiot and immature clown. Making fun of him and name dropping him on his podcast. A lot of people in the industry has said Cornette has some nice ideas at times but a lot of his ideas wouldn't work in today's wrestling and would get the company taken off air. I've also heard people say Jim blows a lot of hot air and is an attention seeker.

A few observations about last night’s show:

- I liked the venue.  It had a different look with the lighting and the angled ramp.  In wrestling different is often good, especially with how uniform and predictable WWE has become.

- The match quality is better than the WWE’s because we see more different spots and the matches are less predictable.

- The camera caught Dustin with a blatant spot call toward the end of his match.  #### happens.

- I acknowledge the Young Bucks’ greatest in the ring, but it’s still difficult for me to take them seriously as fighters based on how they look.  Then again, I felt the same way about the Rock & Roll Express nearly thirty-five years ago.

- AEW should stop letting Kenny Omega close the show with a speech.  Cody completely fired up that crowd with his revolution speech.  Cody has a lot of his dad’s emotion, authenticity, and human connection in him even if he has a completely different promo style than his old man.  Then Cody passed the mic to Kenny and it was completely anti-climatic.  It did neither Kenny nor AEW any favors.

Kenny usually closes shows with speeches because of his Catch phrase Good Bye and Good Night. The speeches at the end are more along the lines of NJPW ending shows with the winner usually thanking the crowd for coming and what not. it's usually the only In-Ring promo during the entire show.

The Venue was an amphitheater WWE when they came to Philly for NXT they used The Tower Theatre for the venue and it was similar given the dimensions. It's really cool at times. I like the ramp going into the ring at times. TNA had this way back when they took away the six sided Ring and Hogan and Bischoff came in. It was nice for awhile but then it got predictable given all the ramp spots they'd do near the ring. I forget if WCW had that sort of ramp or not

The different spots is because WWE is so cookie cutter with what they allow the talent to do. Vince doesn't like some wrestlers doing certain moves as he feels "It takes away from the stars of the company he wants to push" and if these talents are allowed to do their cool moves might get more over then the guys he wants to push AKA Roman and such. Hunter and NXT the guys are allowed more leeway but guys like Finn Balor, Nakamura and others are water downed from what they can do. Go back and Watch Balor's Prince Devitt Stuff and Anderson and Gallows Bullet Club stuff if you really want to know more about them. It's fantastic. I also wish they would let Balor do more then just the deamon. He does some really great comic book character entrances. His Venom and Anti Venom ones are great and he had a really cool  Joker too. He's a comic book nerd he says so he likes doing some of the cosplay.

I'll echo some of your comments and add my own...

The feed during the pre-shows has been bad. Whether that's my Mayberry RFD ISP or what I'm not sure, but it got better once the show started.

Britt Baker   suffered a concussion last night after taking a boot from Bea Priestley. That's probably why she went to the wrong corner for the tag during her match. Earl's daughter the ref lost one of her $20 earrings during that match.

Brandi is catching heat for trying to act like Stephanie which is wrong. She's acting like a heel. She does this face promo talking about her demons and then shows up to the match against Allie with Awesome Kong. I'm glad AK still gets pops all these years later. Plus, if you promote an Aja-Awesome match, give me a place to send my money because I'll pay it.

MJF is a straight stud in this business.  Between him and Jungle Boy, you have two young guys you can build the company around.  As for the Dark Order?  Meh.

Cima is the legit real deal. He's put on three straight awesome matches in AEW. I want to see more of the OWE guys as I'm of the opinion those guys are going to shake the wrestling biz up real good.

They're building up to Page-Jericho pretty well. Hangman is still selling the knee injury and Jericho doing a run in builds doubt that Hangman could pull it off. IMO, I think Page wins because Fozzy is on tour this fall and they'll want the champ on TV.

I couldn't stay awake so I'll have to go back to catch Jericho's promo and the tag match.

To me, it almost sounds like JR is tired. IMO he's feeling his age. Given the fact that his wife is gone and he feels the need to keep working, I can't take that away from him.  I like Excalibur and feel like a booth with him and JR would be OK, with Excalibur getting a rub from working with JR. The other dude needs to GOH right now. He's terrible.

Believe it's Marvez. He's just terrible. Not someone a new promotion should be relying upon for PPV and/or weekly TV IMO.

People have been making excuses for JR for a bit now with commentary. I think he's in the late career Gordon Solie phase at this point. Put him backstage, have him play a role with documentaries or something. The guy obviously adds value to a wrestling company......just not as a regular announcer anymore. Guy just doesn't have it anymore IMO. Put him on commentary once in a blue moon.

Edit: I think at best JR needs someone in the booth to carry things. He can't do that any longer IMO

He use to do NFL coverage for BR. Excalibur masked guy is the one always yelling PILE DRIVER and other moves

Good thing I didn't go you open with the No holds bar match? Geez way to keep the fans hyped. Roman is getting booed producers just turned down the volume during his intro.

Per Brad Sheppard Paul Heyman had Finn Balor lose. Plan is for him to get back together with the Boys Gallows/Anderson and join The Club. Sounds like we might finally be getting Balor Club

Per Brad Sheppard

According to a source in #WWE, there was lots of confusion as to why the Intercontinental Championship match was not on the main card. I’m told Paul Heyman was more upset about it than Finn Balor. #WWE #ExtremeRules

Also Said Heyman has Ronda returning Imminent

Sasha Banks is also backstage along with Bray

Nice little match to start the show the whole Put Roman with Taker backfired as everyone was cheering for Taker. Was told my my co worker working the show Production truck was told to turn Crowd volume down during Roman's entrance as he was getting booed out of the building. Thats my City way to go!!!

This show is nothing more then a glorified RAW. Mike Awesome and other ECW legends no longer here are rolling in their graves. Ishi/Jeff Cobb at G1 was better the Boring Braun and Trashley

Per Brad

According to a source in #WWE, The Club will be a far cry from the “bumbling villains” who constantly come up short as they have in the past - they will dominate. #ExtremeRules

Jesus #### what a #### show ending. Brock is now holding the title hostage again. Once Corbin attacked Becky it was predictable Brock was cashing in

What a PPV!! The only better ending would have been Brock beating both Seth and Becky and walking out with both titles.

BEAST IN THE BANK!!!!

Story was they didn't want to put that match up towards the top of the card so as take the shine off the main event.  Plus, it gets the crowd hot and into the show early.

Over at WINC, a "fan with sources" said that Owens was interfering against Shane O'Mac which would make no sense as KO is now a face.

I missed the Kofi match and the pre-show. Had a good time with the rest of it. For an "extreme" show, they kept most of the action in the ring/ringside area. That made Braun/Lashley feel special, and I thought they put together a good brawl.

  • Take looked good. Using him in tags is the way to go. I really thought we were going to get another lights out scene when Shane set up coast-to-coast with Kane standing in the way.
  • Really like how AJ is powered up with his boys around ringside. The reverse Style Clash scared the crap outta me, though.
  • Surprised by the New Day win. Heavy Machinery gained a lot of shine, and Daniel Bryan trying to submit Big E might have been my favorite spot of the night.
  • Mixed tag had good timing...broke down right when the tag rules were getting in the way. I don't mind inter-gender action, so the spot on Becky got a nice pop.
  • I told the family about Brock cashing in, and it got a huge eye roll from my wife. Her comments:

Is he really that big of a draw?
  • Isn't anyone else on the roster famous enough?

I stuck around for the Batista piece after and really enjoyed that too.

Three-way tag was really really good! Heavy Machinery have been given every opportunity, I want to see if they can actually capitalize on something for once.

Considering that this PPV was born out of fake ECW's One Night Stand, you'd have thought there'd be more stips on the card.  But that's just me.

He probably heard it from WrestleVotes and tries to play off as his

Not really they did nothing that we haven't seen on free TV on a RAW or SDL. You want a really good big man Brawl go watch the Ishi/Cobb G1 match. For a PPV called EXTREME RULES not a lot of extreme. Oh boy they went over a cardboard thingy. The stuff in the way wall wise of the remodel is nothing more then powdered drywall easy to break for a guy like both of them. For what WWE advertised there was nothing remotely extreme about the show. I'm sure VKM had a hard-on in the back during that match though

Considering that this PPV was born out of fake ECW's One Night Stand, you'd have thought there'd be more stips on the card.  But that's just me.
There should've been. It was the best Extreme Rules in 3 yrs but thats not saying much. There's talk that even if the network is a pg13 rating apparently WWE's TV deal doesn't let them go too far on PPV's for whatever reason. I know when the network came fans were hoping maybe the PPV's would get edgier. I would've went last night and rounded up the troops, nice tailgate outside before maybe but non of my friends were interested and I knew this wouldn't be "extreme". It looked more like PG no DQ over anything else. Vince hates the overall Extreme Rules anyway. I'm willing to bet those ECW chants pissed him off. One of the reasons he brought ECW WWE version on was to try and kill it off. Back in the 90s when ECW had the cult following every time they came here he always heard about boys of the extreme. It really pissed him off one of WWE's big cities had another promotion talked about almost as much as his company. However ECW has such a cult following it will forever live.

The PPV was better then I expected I was expected it to be terrible and AEW chants break out. Thank God the old die hard ECW fans were not the main fans for WWE case because they'd be saying this is bull####. However the Revival vs USO's could've been a tables match or something. Gulak's match a Submission match. The Tag match with DB/Rowan vs New Day vs Machinery a three way dance, etc etc. This is the problem with having gimmick PPVs. Hunter/Batista wanted a HITC match at Mania but Vince Nixed it as they have a PPV for it already. Tables match and ladder match probably because of TLC. Could've done a TLC match with the Tag Teams as well. IC could've been a ladder for Finn/Naka.

It's ok at least we got the Network and can actually watch Extreme Matches and ECW and one night stand. Problem those PPV's had in 05/06 was Heyman and Tommy Dreamer wrote the PPVs for both. Also they could've done some sort of ECW tribute but Vince is so petty. I'll go watch ONS 05 with RAW on and then ONS06 where fans were giving Cena the figure and all. Thats the type of heat Roman would've received too. Their whole lets get Roman over backfired again. Crowd was hot for Taker as they usually are here. Some of Taker's big moments career wise was here including the HITC vs Bossman where the Acolyates "hung" Bossman at the end of the match. Given the Royal Rumble Debaticle awhile back you are never gonna turn Philly Pro Roman. I was at the show and had I think Security not gotten to the ring fast enough and other parts that place was gonna riot ECW style and start throwing chairs in the ring.

And we got Moxley for our extreme viewings
