From yesterday:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers will meet with Broncos OC Adam Gase on Monday night, and "make a final push" to hire Gase as their head coach.

This interview just got a lot more interesting after the Broncos and John Fox "mutually parted ways," perhaps putting Gase in the driver's seat to succeed him. The Broncos are a much-better-run organization than the 49ers these days, and Gase has a relationship with every player on the roster and probably every member of the front office. Unless there's something going on behind the scenes, we'd have to believe Gase would much prefer to stay in Denver.

Put me in the camp of being unsold on Adam Gase. I thought Petyon Manning was the OC in Denver?

If Vic Fangio leaves, hello dumpster city.

The Huddle is reporting that the 49ers have hired Gase as HC but there's no story associated with the link. ???

Things are heating up in the 49ers' courtship of Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Potentially game-changing factors are coming into play in the San Francisco 49ers' pursuit of Adam Gase to become the team's next head coach.

Gase, the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator of the last two seasons, is following up an eight-hour meeting with 49ers GM Trent Baalke Tuesday by reportedly sitting down with Broncos' executive vice president John Elway Wednesday to discuss the team's head coaching vacancy. Elway and former head coach John Fox officially parted ways this week after a disappointing home playoff loss to the Indianapolis Colts over the weekend.

Denver appears to be San Francisco's largest obstacle in hiring Gase, if he is their top choice to replace Jim Harbaugh. The 49ers have already complied with the Rooney Rule and can hire Gase immediately. The Broncos have not, and are planning to interview Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin this week. The New York Jets hired former Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, taking a minority candidate off the market.

If Gase stays in Denver, where he has been on staff for the last six seasons, San Francisco will likely continue their courtship of Seahawks defensive coordinator Dann Quinn, New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and/or former Washington and Denver head coach Mike Shanahan. Internal candidates Jim Tomsula and Vic Fangio will also continue to be considered.

Gase is the only candidate the 49ers have interviewed twice, while Quinn and McDaniels have been unavailable with their teams are still alive in the playoffs. San Francisco is unable to hire assistants from other teams until their respective seasons are over, which could mean they won't have a coach in place until after the Super Bowl in February

Looks like its Tomsula

http://blog.sfgate.com/49ers/2015/01/14/report-49ers-will-name-jim-tomsula-head-coach/

After a 17-day cross-country search to find Jim Harbaughs replacement, it turns out the 49ers next head coach had been working alongside them for the past eight years.

The 49ers will hire defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, 46, the longest-tenured member of their coaching staff who served a one-game stint as their interim coach to finish the 2010 regular season, ESPNs Adam Schefter reported.

Tomsula is well-respected by his players and is viewed as one of the top position coaches in the league. All-Pro defensive tackle Justin Smith has labeled him one of the best coaches hes had in his 14-year career. Under Tomsulas tutelage, a host of former undrafted free agents have carved out NFL careers. That group includes the 49ers Tony Jerod-Eddie and Ian Williams, and Seattles Demarcus Dobbs and Will Tukuafu.

However, Tomsulas promotion is certain to be met with some skepticism given his lone NFL experience has come as the 49ers defensive line coach. Of the other eight candidates who interviewed for the job, Tomsula has the least NFL experience and is the only coach thats never worked as a coordinator in the league.

In fact, Tomsula was promoted over 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, 56, a 28-year NFL veteran who has overseen a defense thats allowed the second-fewest points in the league since his arrival in 2011. Fangio, who was the first to interview for the 49ers opening, could now request his release from his contract, which expires after the 2015 season

there are browns fans on another forum i read asking what in the ever loving #### the 49ers are doing these days... browns fans!

Trestman on the short list for OC.
Oh #### NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully Del Rio has a leg up on landing Trestmanhttp://mweb.cbssports.com/fantasy/fantasy-football/update/24962213/report-raiders-49ers-and-browns-in-on-marc-trestman

Report: Raiders, 49ers and Browns in on Marc Trestman

Chris Cwik / CBSSports.com

January 14, 2015 06:16 PM

Former Bears head coach Marc Trestman is drawing interest from at least three teams looking for an offensive coordinator.

Trestman is in Cleveland on Wednesday, and there's some thought he could sign with the club following the interview. Newly-named Raiders coach Jack Del Rio has recruited Trestman to be his offensive coordinator for some time now, so Oakland could become a player if Trestman leaves the Browns without an offer.

The 49ers are also rumored to have interest in Trestman, though the team hasn't reached out to him yet. San Francisco is rumored to have promoted Jim Tomsula to head coach on Wednesday, and it could take him some time to figure out what he wants to do with his coordinators

I think by now the York strategy is clear:

1. Tank Team

2. Rebuild Team, generate buzz

3. Build new stadium, sell PSL's at ungodly high prices

4. Tank Team, devalue PSL's

5. Repurchase PSL's at bargain rates

6. Profit? That's all I got.

Anyone? Bueller?

@MaioccoCSN: Just spoke to member of #49ers coaching staff who said the assistants are in the dark about the team’s plans. They haven’t heard a thing.

Makes sense since the FO brass seems to be flying blind. If they dont know what direction they're going, no way for the staff to know.
