Balotelli must be truly horrific to work with when you can basically get him in straight swap for Fabio Borini.
it is mind boggling how little Balotelli went for especially when you consider that the EPL has been basically been over paying almost every transfer for the last 3 months

He's a cancer. He's Terrell Owens, although unlike Owens he doesn't always focus on the field or work hard. Say what you will about TO, he was totally obsessed with dominating during games. Balo comes and goes in that regard.

What's the team record for spending in one window? ManU has to have it now, right?

And Wenger is off to Rome to watch a charity match. :wall:
Probably still 2009 Real Madrid. They spent 260mm Euros on guys like Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso, and Benzema.
I read a Tweet earlier that said that 2009 RM was indeed the record, and that United had at this point exceeded all records but that one.

Falcao to United is going to happen. Incredible. Of course it doesnt make a lick of sense unless RVP is having surgery.
I don't see why not - the other big clubs who also have top strikers were after him.
Most other top clubs don't have a midfield and defense you could walk through.... ;)
<_<

:lmao:

Well, now I'm reading or seeing what Native was talking about with RvP and a possible surgery. Either way, Welbeck is most likely leaving and Chicharito is gone so that leaves just Rooney and RvP as forward options. I'm hoping for Carvalho and a miracle on a quality CB and then I think I'll be happy. :)
Hey, remember when it was City and Chelsea that were ruining football?

No, remind me.

Cerci officially signed by Atlético. Nice pickup, and both Griezmann, Arda, and Cerci will be a nice rotation. Raúl García might still get a run in big games due to his heading and willingness to get stuck in and piss off Real Madrid. Although he came through the Osauna ranks, he's really a Cholo guy methinks.

The signings were pretty good this offseason, although the team might be about the same quality as last year overall. Three big starters left, and their replacements have been not up to par IMO. They will need time to gel, so I'm hopeful that Cholo can make that happen in short order. Real and Barça have similar troubles, although Barça seems to get the players playing well together the fastest of the 3.

I know hoping for another title run is folly, and after last season the expectations are far higher than they have been in a LONG time. Honestly, I think this team is poised for a CL run, not a la liga title run.

I think you guys retooled nicely. Talent is there, now the question is how well will everyone play together. Yesterdays Real Madrid game proved (yet again) that signing new expensive toys does not always result in wins.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Ridiculous spending for a mid-table club.

According to the Telegraph, Falcao's wages will be £346,000 per week. Inland Revenue is happy to welcome him to the UK.

Ridiculous spending with massive revenue. As a supporter of a team with meager revenues, I'd be willing to trade United's position for Atlético's in a heartbeat.I can't even buy a legit Atlético jersey in US, since they don't distribute here. That's how low their market penetration is. You can find people wearing United kit all over the world right now.

Those that haven't switched to City kits yet. But it was more about how vocal United fans have been over the years regarding spending by City and Chelsea............ and the fact that they're doing all this spending, and will finish out of the Top 4 again this season.

All players called up for the England fixtures are at AFC's training grounds today. So there might be nothing to that, even if he would prefer Arsenal.

EDIT: By "it" I mean Welbeck at AFC.

:lmao: If they are mid-table then I'm not sure how it ruins anything but the Glazer's checking account but keep on trolling.

I read somewhere that Rooney has a "best-paid" clause, so they'll have to bump him up roughly another 50K pounds a week as well. 700K pounds a week for two players.

I can't blame Arsene for not spending that, so I'm just happy to get the chance to see more of Falcao.

Wow this could be a huge get for Arsneal if true. Love this player. And at a great price as well.

Arsenal have activated Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's £12.75m release clause and could be on his way to the Emirates. (Junge Welt)
Ooh. He'd be cup tied in Europe, though, right?
Hmm. Wasnt aware of that. Makes the situation much murkier.

3x Lambert, ooof
He's better than Lambert.
He seems pretty meh to me. Outside of one good year, he's seems average. At 31, not likely to have a great season like he did 2011 again.

I do think he'd fit in well at Arsenal and their style, though.

I guess he wouldn't be if Schalke hasn't registered their team yet, though. They finished 3rd so they were in the group stages without the playoff, right?

He would be the big target forward that all the other attacking mids/wingers can work around. Also great in the air. Ozil desparately needs someone like this, and I think Sanchez will benefit as well.

OK. Yup just checked. Schalke finished third and qualified automatically. So he is NOT cup tied.

More importantly, he's just a reliable finisher. Take out the huge year for Schalke and he's still at worst a 1 in 3 scorer in big leagues. That's a downside of Giroud's goal scoring rate.

Durability is a bit of a concern, but he scored .75 goals/game last season.
