I just looked it up... these aren't for sale in the US (or Canada).

Here's more info: http://www.paninigroup.com/en/fifaworldcup...ction/the-album

I bought about 50 packs of 5 stickers in Mexico when I was there. There are about 600 or so stickers to collect in the album, so I'm a ways off.

BTW, LHUCKS if you read this, buy me 25 packs of these things in Uruguay and I'll pay you back or hook you up with something neat (I have no idea what this is as of now, but something...)

I guess I just recall doing it in Europe and then in Venezuela right before Euro2008.

Just add it to the list of things that Americans miss out on...

At least we have universal health care!

:hey: Me too!

I hate to say this... but my wife is in Mexico and can pick up some packs and albums if people are interested.

I can have her ship a box of them to me, and then I can mail them out to you.

I'll limit this to the first 3 people that reply to this post.

I make no promises though, as I'll have to convince her to do this work for me. I think she will... good thing I married a South American who understands the importance of la copa.

So far I have:

So... no one collects the stickers?Weak.I want to get a trading system up an going so I can fill some of the ones I'm missing.
I had a huge collection of these back in the early 90's. I collected cards and stickers from all over the world. Quite fun. I remember going into a card shop off the strip in Vegas and asked the guy if he had any soccer stuff and he just smiled and pulled this old box out of the closet and I got some incredible stuff, like cigar cards from England back in the very early part of the century.Sold the collection for a tidy profit when the WC1994 woke a whole generation of people up to the sport.Still miss doing it though. Daughter is not into sports but if I had a son, I would definitely pick it up again.

ZMachine, no worries, it looks like I can order online so I'll go that route. Thanks for the offer to help out. Never heard of them before this, I'm sure my kids will love these - I force them to watch EPL games all week long

I'm looking for a good online pick-em or fantasy style game for the World Cup - would appreciate any tips or suggestions. I've seen the ESPN game, which looks decent, but it appears that game is essentially a contest to pick the entire cup results before a game is played.

My company has offices in 28 countries, and 12 or so are in the cup, so we're trying to set up a company-wide friendly competition. I'm looking for something that isn't overly complicated or involved, to encourage participation, but would prefer something a little more flexible than just picking the entire bracket before it starts.

I played in something last WC that was really easy- I think you just picked a group of players and they all scored points. Only managerial moves were naming a captain (double points) per game and IIRC, getting a roster move or two once the knockout stages started. But my memory sucks, and I carved out a lot of free time last WC, so it could've been way more involved than that.eta: there will be a ton of games starting up pretty soon I imagine.

ESPN's saying that Davies is back in full training with his team in France.

I'm not an expert, so can someone explain what this means? Is he just running at full speed and doing drills or is he actually participating in full contact type stuff?

Three-match ban for Ribéry

UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body has handed a three-game suspension to Franck Ribéry for serious foul play in FC Bayern München's UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg.

FC Bayern München's Franck Ribéry will miss the UEFA Champions League final after the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body today decided to suspend the winger for three UEFA club competition matches for assault.

Ribéry received a red card for serious foul play in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against Olympique Lyonnais in Munich on 21 April. The French international was banned for last night's second leg in Lyon, which means that the suspension now remains in place for two further games – the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid on 22 May and the following match in any UEFA club competition for which he is eligible.

Bayern may appeal within three days of communication of the decision.
Ouch.

Certainly don't see how that is worthy of a 3 match ban.

from everything I have heard it is full contact training. But their is still significant concern that there is no way for him to be match fit and Bradley has made it clear that he will only be chosen if match fit.Gooch is another worry as well as I don't think he is going to match fit either

Again, not a soccer expert, but guys can't get match fit in 7 weeks? That seems like an awful long time.

We did it here. Should be able to find a link for it.

The 30 man roster deadline is May 11th.The final roster is first week in June.I don't know if he will get any games in before the 11th. After the 11th, there are only 2 games left before the first week in June.Match fit doesn't mean you are in great shape, it means that you have real matches under your belt.

ok. that makes more sense.I'd still rather take my shot with a healthy (albeit rusty) Davies over a match fit Casey or Ching.

oh me too!I think the big fear many of us have is whether he is really healthy or not. This was not a normal injury by any means. He could have complications in so many different areas of his body.I am hoping for the best and expecting the worst (Casey on the squad)

I was kinda thinking like an auction would be fun where you can get as many or as few teams as you wanted....

Win a group-2%

Second in a group-1%

Win a first round game- 3%

Win a quarterfinal- 5%

Win a semi final- 8%

Win the Cup- 16%

So technically....if the cup winner wins their stage they could win 34% of the prize pool

Spit balling here. A draft might be better I dunno.

I will play any game that people want, whether it be team based or player based.

as others have said, their will be no shortage of games and pools that will come online in the next month or so after the rosters are set.

I was the loudest voice saying Ribery's challenge was really ugly. that said- didn't look like more than a typical 1 game red to me. 3 is harsh.

I think Floppo and I are finally finding common ground on this call. You can imagine how  I'm getting about a 3 game...oh well, heading to the bar for a late "client lunch" with another football fan. Can't wait for this match.

The coms said it would be 3 games right when it happened I believe. Something about straight reds always bringing 3 games.

Yeah, I'm  too.IME, red card always equals automatic 1 game suspension at minimum. Officials can lengthen the suspension if the circumstances dictate it (ie: repeat offender, punches thrown, obscene gestures, basically conduct detrimental to the game and not just bad challenges). I guess the officials took my stance that Ribery knew what he was doing with that tackle and stuck it to him. Again- harsh, IMO.

eta: does anybody else know abuot this "automatic 3 game" suspension?

Your right. UEFA has no rule that a straight red = 3 match ban. It's an automatic 1 match ban and left up to the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body to extend the ban if they want. Here they chose 3 games. Very harsh decision. Hopefully, Bayern will be able to overturn it on appeal. My guess is they can reduce it to 2 match ban. That still leaves him out of the final though.
