Not like Clint hasn't blown a few chances of his own tonight, but why doesn't Bob at least give him a CHANCE to start a game up top?It just seems like such a better option that plugging in the MLS flavor of the month/year who is ALWAYS overmatched.
He does much better out of the MF for country and club- the more he gets involved on the ball, the better he does. He tends to disappear up front.

Question for people who know more football than I do: Give me your starting XI for the most awesome soccer names. Any entry that doesn't have Hulk on it will be immediately DQ'ed.

btw... Mexico must be continuing to lol at the performance by the US in this GC. Visions of 09 dancing in their heads.
Why would they laugh when it was not that long ago they were looking worse in WCQing. Some short memory if they are. As I learned in 1995 with the US and hopefully Mexico won't learn, peaking three years before a WC is almost a worst case scenario for a team.

jesus. really? we're stuck with needing to just pump the ball long every time now?

the US should be passing the ball all over the field right now, making Guad chase hopelessly. It's embarrassing to me that our "A" side can't dispatch this team with a good thumping right now.

:confused:they'd laugh because WCQ was a long, irrelevant time ago, and WC 14 is the same in the future. IIRC, these teams are currently playing in the Gold Cup?

US spacing is horrible. huge gaps all over the field except defensive third center.

oh- good sub there. give Bradley a rest after not having played a lot of quality minutes

So bad. Mexico is gonna tear us to pieces, if we even get there. So....many....misses
At this point I will consider it a massive success just to get to the finals. At this point the US is most certainly an underdog going into the quarters which was almost unimaginable a week ago.

I went to the last US Jamaica game in RFK back in 1997 and it was like playing in Kingston. Hopefully the Jamaican fans won't flood the stadium.

Ugly ugly game. The US needs to step up or they're done.
This has been a pretty shambolic 4 game stretch... the worst I can remember from the US in a long, long time. The US "B"/"C" team played far better in 09 than this group has. And by "better", I mean: more cohesive and a more entertaining product on the field. That team started Pause and Beckerman in the middle of the MF, btw.My wife has finally come to grips that the USMNT is the only team on the planet I have genuine passion about- and mentioned to today... "why did you have to pick a team that is always so disappointing?"

People don't realize how bad the team has been performing and for how long. Here are the results since the World Cup before the disappointing first round in the Gold Cup. Brazil 2 US 0Poland 2 US 2Colombia 0 US 0South Africa 0 US 1Chile 1 US 1Argentina 1 US 1Paraguay 1 US 0Spain 4 US 0

Good stuff, andy. The thing is, I'm more concerned about the quality of play from the US team over that 4 game stretch than the results- I don't recall them playing this badly so consistently.... but I hadn't seen the results all layed out like that... OOF.

Vennegoor of Hesselink kicks that name in the taint.
And this guy destroys Vennegoor.
Well played, Maurer.
Africa is the place to look for awesome names - Christ Bongo, Danger Fourpence, Have-A-Look Dube, Johnny Mustache, Two-Boys Gumede, amongst others.A couple of others are Segar ******* who was an England international in the 19th century and refereed the1878 FA Cup Final, Danny Invincible who currently plays up front for St. Johnstone in Scotland and Dominique Dropsy who was a goalie for France at the 1978 World Cup.

BTW, are any of you fools in Baltimore or DC? Where's the place to watch footy over there.I'm moving from Oakland in July. Eephus, you better step up if you want to meet the Z before he goes...
DC has several soccer bars. Lucky Bar in Dupont Circle is one of the more prominent ones. Summers Bar and Grill in Arlington, VA is also popular. I know nothing about Baltimore bars, but I assume they have them.
Please tell me when you'll be in one of said bars. I WILL be there.
I'll be there from the 5th to the 12th. If there is a game then, I'll meet up.
Dempsey is a little off tonight.
We need to file whatever papers it takes to let him play in his Fulham jersey.

Yeah, I'd hate to be Spain right now.
my kid just woke up to take a massive dump. same could be said for the US tonight... minus the waking up part.
:lmao:

I spend about one week out of five in Maryland for business. The Bay Area is nicer.
I'm not going there because I think it's a better place to live. My wife got a job there, and so away we go.
