Michael Bradley to Aston Villa on loan with Stephen Ireland moving along to Newcastle (his third EPL team this season).

The Villa midfield was pretty crowded before and they just added Jean Makoun from OL this month. Hopefully Bradley will be able to establish himself as a regular.

Some actual concrete news: Sergio Aguero has inked a new deal with Atletico Madriod and is not going to Tottenham Hotspur or anywhere else. "I'm staying because I want to," he is reported to have said. So now we know

Good to see him staying in Spain. Atletico really needs to put some better talent around Forlan and Kun though. Ten points out of the Champions League certainly isn't where they want to be.

They don't seem that crowded in the center, though. Most of their best MFs, Young, Downing, Albrighton, are flank players. I don't think Petrov and Reo Coker were showing much steel in the center of the field, which strikes me as what Villa needs. I think it's a good fit.

You're telling me... Their midfield needs some help. There's not enough playmaking, nor enough control in the center of the park. Couple that with a few blunders on the defensive end, and you're in bad shape.

The Red Sox...err, I mean Liverpool have just made an offer to Newcastle for Andy Carroll that is supposed to be well over squiglything30m and he told his bosses HE WANTS TO GO! This would be huge and I would rather have him than Torres anyway. I hate Anelka btw. Spurs are also in the Carroll mix submitting an offer of their own. Lot's of offers into french teams it seems also from Liverpool. Fun day...maybe. :hophead:

That's just crazy money for a guy with 20 top flight games.

Sweet pony-tail though. That's gotta be worth at least 8-12 mil.

Looks like Adu may be finding the bottom :hophead:

He looks to be loaned to a second division Turkish side. oi

Ives says that he needs to bide his time until the Benefica deal runs out this summer and then come back to MLS and try to restart his career. He is only 21 but one still has to wonder when so many different coaches find him wanting on the practice side of the sport.

As silly as it is, being a young England international with a distinct look is worth something. Part of the equation in adding any player is not only their abilities on the pitch but their ability to draw interest in the club, sell merchandise, etc. Carroll leans to the more marketable end of the scale and can be that face of a club even if he isn't that good (not that he isn't good, but he's not all that imo).

It seems like only yesterday when he was throwing drinks at people and getting his Range Rover torched. All is forgiven when you're English.

I would certainly agree that the center of their midfield is where they are weakest. How as Filipe Luis been this year on the D? I always wanted Barca to pick him up for left back and thought he looked really strong in the attack for Depor.

AND he's a very good striker. I hope his injury is not a big deal though. I would trade torres for him at this point straight up honestly. Torres is ALWAYS hurt it seems and he wants to go.

Led to believe NUFC are playing for time to find a replacement & aren't after higher bid. Crouch on loan one possibility being explored.

35 seems pretty steep, but...

Nottingham Forest have received international clearance to complete the signing of United States striker Robbie Findley on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old, who opted to leave Major League Soccer team Real Salt Lake last year at the end of his contract, has secured a visa that allows him to play in England.

The striker has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Forest, who are in fifth place in the Championship.

Findley was a member of the US World Cup squad in South Africa, starting three of the team's four matches.

Joey Barton?

I wonder if Insua is coming back today? i heard something about it last week. That would be huge imo. I love that kid. That got rid of babel who I hated and loaned out Koncheski who was awful. Things are looking up. Is Ngog still there? He has been absent the last two matches. I like him but he's been playing bad of late.

Liverpool reshuffling is making for a very interesting workday . :gang2:
Or sitting on the couch playing FIFA11 day. I am Spurs and I just sold Jermaine Defoe after year two just for fun.
I'm sitting in my office, but downloading Football Manager 11 for my office computer. When news first broke this weekend about the possibility of Torres leaving, at first I was sad. But it is a "buy low sell high" business, and Fernando Torres will never be worth more than he is now. Torres out. Carroll, Suarez and Adam in? I like it a lot.ETA - Now all they need to do is recall Aquilani from Juventus.

:bag: And Mierles has looked incredible the last three matches. I hope that keeps up.

This kind of kills me. I had all but shifted allegiances from Newcastle to Arsenal when the Magpies were relegated (I'm weak, sue me), but Carroll was the one link that still pulled me back and activated my guilt instinct.

I'm thinking I can now order my Wilshere jersey with impunity.

Andy Carroll just put in a transfer request and Newcastle accepted and is gonna send him to LIVERPOOL!!!! Pool is now talking to Chelski about $$ for Whorez. Looks like 48 million for Whorez and no Anelka! This is GREAT. Pool is also talking to Blackpool now..... :pickle: :lmao:   :wall:

I'm really growing to dislike the LFC crowd on Twitter/RAWK that goes on about how this guy or that guy aren't "Liverpool quality." If someone's better than what we've got, it's good enough for me.

Charlie Adams from Blackpool is driving to Liverpool for talks as I write this. That would be HUGE! I do feel bad for Blackpool. Rangers gets 10% of any fee Blackpool gets for Adams over 500k. Crazy day!

is there an archive of their tweets when Paul Konchesky was signed :kicksrock:

Looks like Chelsea have snagged Luizno link
Lots of twitter-type reports confirming this at 20 mil Euro + Matic + friendly at LisbonThe game (from which Benfica would get all the proceeds) is the only part of this deal that wasn't included in the rumors the past week. Seems like a decent price to me based on what I've read. I've not seen Luiz play. I had never heard of Matic before - I think he's on loan somewhere.

Yeah, if all this settles like it seems it will, it looks like a good day to be a Liverpool fan.
As good as could be expected yesterday. Torres forcing this transfer at the end of the window forcing Liverpool to spend insane, ludacris money for Carroll doesn't make me happy though.

Liverpool have OFFICIALLY accepted the offer from Chelsea. No confirmed money amount other than the 50mil that had been already out there.

Need to get on Adam and/or Young pretty soon here. Time is running out. It's gonna hurt a bit to get rid of Torres on FIFA tonight.

I am happy about it. I think it worked out GREAT for Pool as now there are Champions league hopes (especially if Carroll comes back soon from injury) and they got a guy they NEVER would have had a shot at come summer imo for fair value. They got Suarez, Carroll, and maybe Charlie Adams for Whores and some $$. Great day. Still wondering about Insua?

Charlie Adams is as good as Red! That was the feel on Sky sorts last I looked. He was heading to anfield to talk $$ and his dad talked a bunch of trash about Blackpool on the way out. Young is staying put. Left back is the need now if Insua doesn't return imo.

Hoping for Adam.... Lerner basically said they can't have Young. Witch makes sense since they went out and got Bent to partner with him.

I was just thinking that too. My son's going to be pissed....

How has Insua been doing for Galatasaray? I haven't heard much about him since he went on loan. Certainly wish he was here rather than Konchesky earlier this year, but probably wouldn't have made a difference with the tactics Roy employed.
