What does the field look like?Shrews holding strong at the half. A home win against big bad CFC would be awesome.
Its wet. And, I've decided I dislike the CFC bright yellow away shirts. What does the field look like?Shrews holding strong at the half. A home win against big bad CFC would be awesome.

It would be a very nice shirt swap for somebodylol - Eddy Hazard comes on in the 94th min.
Were they allowed to swap at the end of the game? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/6036552/Shrewsbury-wont-swap-shirts-at-half-time.htmlIt would be a very nice shirt swap for somebodylol - Eddy Hazard comes on in the 94h min.
wait, thats not the new name for the nfl team thats supposed to be relocating to LA?Page 3?
So apparently this new team in LA that is taking Chivas USA's spot is going with, wait for it, .. LAFC as a "working title". Brilliant.
LA is finally getting an NFL team?Page 3?

CIES did recent analysis on youth academy production of top-5 league players in which River Plate was the top South American club. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B1CIu5qIcAAIOUn.jpgJust saw that River Plate recently ran their unbeaten to 29 games...truly amazing turnaround. One of the most enjoyable games I ever watched was a couple years ago when they had to win to regain promotion to the Argentine top flight. A few famous previous players (Trezeguet was one) had returned just to help them get back into the 1st division that season. I was really impressed by the devotion & loyalty the fans & former players had to "The Stripe"...they won, and the bedlam/euphoria that ensued was awesome. Now this. Such a great story...Los Millonarios!
Is this game televised in the US? I'm sure Andy could/would answer if he were still with us.El Floppo said:River v Boca is my favorite derby.
Always nuts- fans go ape####, and the players are up to all kinds of hijinx, including some occasionally great soccer.
I feel with the recent mega-globalization in the big leagues, the rivalries have taken a hit as players treat eachother with a bit more respect and a bit less heart-on-the-sleeve loyalty to their club. Not so much in Argentina.
CONCACAF Champions League success should be considered, but the US teams have of course not done very well in that tournament. RSL made the final a few years back and I think a few teams won it back in the Champions Cup days.MLS talk to follow, so if you can skip now if you don't care...
So every year I run sports franchise rankings on my site, wherein I evaluate all teams on a set of criteria that I feel is broader and more inclusive than just championships (although they are a big factor). My recent ones for the NBA and NFL describe the criteria I use respectively. Basically the idea is to reward teams that are good but maybe not great, and to even out the rankings of teams that have a handful of titles but a ton of lousy regular seasons.
I plan on publishing just such a list for MLS before the next season starts, and I need some help picking criteria. Here's what I have for point-scoring categories so far:
Anything else? I use winning regular seasons for my other leagues but I don't know if that considered a relevant stat for MLS given how important draws are.
- MLS Cup win
- MLS Cup loss
- Playoff series win (I don't plan on including the one-game knockout)
- Playoff berth
- Supporters Shield
- Conference title
So how might that work from a timing perspective? The four squads that qualified this year won't play until next summer (my rankings will be released prior to the start of the 2015 MLS season), and the squads in the current tourney aren't technically the same ones as from the 2013 MLS season (different lineups), so I'm not sure I could fairly evaluate them. Perhaps I can award points for qualifying?CONCACAF Champions League success should be considered, but the US teams have of course not done very well in that tournament. If I were just trying to quantify how "good" a team has been over a given stretch of years, I'd probably only account for points earned in league play and goal differential in league play.US Open Cup resultsMLS talk to follow, so if you can skip now if you don't care...

But of course, that's a distinct question from how much success a team has had. Because of the playoff format, I think the second question is a lot more dependent on luck and timing than the first question.
FSC and/or ESPN Deportes also used to show this... I'm sure it'll stream somewhere.I know GolTv used to have those rights, not sure anymore. Is this game televised in the US? I'm sure Andy could/would answer if he were still with us.El Floppo said:River v Boca is my favorite derby.

Playoffs don't reflect "best" imo, but show a team that get's hot and does enough during the playoffs. But I'm less trophy oriented than most.
