58' and Di Maria is off for Januzaj after another disappointing display. His passing is off, his is getting stripped of the ball easily and he isnt shooting.

I thought it was just the Copa Del Rey today

ETA: That is Spanish for The Cup Del Rey, btw, you anglocentric ####s.

Very annoying that ManU gets 3 points from that game. I thought we had them caught. Give them credit, they know how to pull out wins

Weird that a win feels like a loss, but that late ManU goal just takes the life out of the day for Liverpool fans. Good win obviously, but at some point we will drop a few points too. I'm hanging my hat on the fact that ManU has an impossible run of games coming up, and the fact that in my opinion Liverpool is the 2nd best team in the EPL right now, and their quality will eventually get them to the top 4.

6 of the top 7 won today, and Southampton won yesterday, so no points dropped this matchday in the top 7.

A draw there and it was over for United in the top 4. Liverpool are playing too well and Gerrard isnt on the field to slip it up. You are right on the upcoming fixtures for United including a game AT Liverpool. Not going to be easy for United esp if they lose to or draw teams like Newcastle.

Tottenham (H)

Liverpool (a)

Villa (h)

City (h)

Chelsea (a)

Everton (a)

WBA (h)

Palace (a)

Arsenal (h)

Hull (a)

53 pts, 1 behind Arsenal, 2 up on Liverpool, 4 up on Southampton

The ManU-Liverpool game is shaping up to be just a massively important game. Glad we have that one at home. Arsenal is playing phenomenal right now (outside of CL), and so it's going to be tough for Liverpool to climb past them, especially with their head-to-head game being an away game.

Can someone explain why Falcao, DiMaria and Mata are all struggling for LvG? At first I chalked it up to Falcao's health and DiMaria's adjustment to England but it seems weird that 3 great players are in such poor form. Is it tactical or something else?

Is mata still on the team?

Kidding but the fact he isnt getting regular games is a big deal imo

Falcao's work rate is good but his touch is letting him down, I think he is still overcoming injury for the most part

Not sure what happened to ADM after a good start. But he looks off in all directions.

Part of it is the constant shifting of people for injury, formation, LVG's will hasnt let anyone settle. Only recently have people getting a run of games with the same people lineup next to them. Hard to fit in when you dont know what the person next to you is going to do. Also for Falcao and ADM the physicality may be a little more then they are used to (but this is based on league rep and not watching them play before). And adjusting to LVG's "philosophy" seems to be an issue, but who knows really.

Tick tock

@SoccerByIves: I’m told players union is voting to on latest #MLSCBA offer, which must mean it was good enough to bring to members for a vote. #Progress

@JSB_FOX: Looks like a deal has been agreed on #MLS

@JSB_FOX: Hearing from a player inside MLS negotiations that a deal has been agreed upon between MLS and players. Working on details.

I'm not sure I get this "intensity" argument on behalf of PL. From what I've seen of La Liga, those clubs hammer away -- at high speed -- at each other just as much as they do in England.

Having said that, I also can't explain why guys like DiMaria and Falcao have struggled in PL. It doesn't seem to be a universal problem; Luis Suarez certainly had his way with PL defenses. And Diego Costa appears to be relatively uncowed as well.

I may be way off here, but my opinion is that a player succeeding is more a function of the system/position he's playing in than the league he is in, at least among the top 3-4 leagues.

Perhaps the LVG system just doesn't fit for those two players.

@JerseyJBradley: Happy to hear about the #MLSCBA but I was clearing room on the #Stabaek bus for those who wanted to jump onboard

Looks like the cap jump was very low. This must have been the trade off for what ever free agency the players got.

So #MLSCBA deal is done. Hearing lots of players unhappy w/final deal. I'm told 7 teams voted against it (KC, RSL, RBNY, NYC, MON, FCD, COL)

One of the biggest things for a manager is man management. If you can't relate to a player or convey your point to them...your ideas are worthless. Rodgers may be young, but he has loads of man management ability. Hell, LVG can't even be bothered to leave his seat during games.

A majority of seven teams voting against it seems like a lot.

It'll be interesting to see if the reason they're unhappy is the concessions are more along the lines of helping players as a group in the long run rather than increasing salaries today.

Is there any sort of pattern to the teams that voted against?

My friend just told me he likes his MLS the same way he likes his porn. The more DPs the better. I SAID MY FRIEND SAID IT!

lol - nothing like the unity of a single-entity league.

I don't understand. How are seven teams a majority? There are 20 teams in the league.

From the numbers that are coming out in twitter, I assume they are unhappy about the cap. It is much lower than anyone guessed but then again no one factored in free agency.

have the terms been announced yet?.
No, it has not officially been signed and ratified yet. Numbers are leaking on twitter but nothing formal.

These are the rough numbers (just leaks, they might be inaccurate)

5 or 7 year deal (conflicting reports)

15% jump in cap first year, 5% ongoing

Some sort of free agency 28/8/13ish*

$60k min salary

No word yet on roster sizes, dp's etc. Hopefully by tomorrow the lawyers will have it all pretty and a formal press release will come out.

*here is wording on free agency after 28 and 8 years in league

Players who are making under $100,000 have a cap of a 125-percent increase of their salary, players making between $100-200,000 have a cap of 120-percent and players making more than $200,000 have a cap of 115-percent.

If the partial leaked numbers are correct, I am thinking this is a big win for owners, loss for players and loss for fans.

The fans result could turn more positive if a tweak to the Double Penetration rule emerges but without that, MLS is destined to fall further behind the top 10-15 leagues in the world.

Weak players union imo
