damn... was hoping for more PL teams to take eachother out. not even one matchup this round? unlucky for the little guys.

Who does Liverpool play?  I don't see them in there anywhere.

I'd think the main unfortunate thing for the "little guys" is that none of these games are at the big league stadiums, so they don't get the big purse. That said, its still awesome for a smaller club like Sutton - I think I read in the 5th division - to welcome a club like Arsenal to their grounds. The local supporters and club officials have to be pretty excited. For me, that's much better than having the biggies play other biggies.

Southampton have agreed a fee of about £14m for Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini.

The 25-year-old is set to have a medical at the Premier League club on Tuesday.

Bastian Schweinsteiger had a witty response when congratulated on scoring his first Old Trafford goal against Wigan Athletic.

The Manchester United midfielder made his first start in over a year in the FA Cup fourth round, and marked his return with an assist and a goal.

Spotted with wife Ana Ivanovic in Hale on Monday afternoon, he was offered congratulations on his strike in front of the United fans - after previously netting for the club against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

But he smiled and replied: "No, this is my second goal at Old Trafford. My first was for Bayern Munich."

don't get me wrong- I love seeing the EPL teams at the small parks. but I also love seeing the small teams push through deep into the cup. pretty good chance epl teams will start focusing on the cup at this point, which makes the games for the minnows tougher...  

 
With a day to go in the winter window, the English clubs seem to have sold more than they've bought. Chelsea sold Oscar, MIkel, Ivanovic and Bamford, bought no one so far. United sold Schneiderlin and Depay, West Ham sold Payet. If you don't count Gabriel Jesus, a deal announced last summer, I think the biggest in-bound acquisition by an English club this window was Leicester City buying Ndidi from Genk (looked it up, no idea otherwise.)  According to Transfermarkt, England was about 800mil Euros in the red this summer on spending of 1.4bln Euros. So far this winter, England is about 50mil in the green. That may change quite a bit by the end of the day tomorrow, but the rumor mill seems rather quiet.

Arnold Kruiswijk broke the Dutch Eredivisie record for most minutes with out a goal.  25,188 minutes with no goals.

Ironically he also holds the Dutch Eredivisie record for fastest Own Goal at just 9 seconds.

I think a few European countries have an extra day or two into February. The new giants in China have no window, so outbound transfers can happen at any time. I don't follow the rumors much anymore, but I don't expect the PL to stay net positive. There is a long history of deadline day panic deals, including that memorable year when Andy Carrol and Nando Torres both moved on the last day.

Dark arts, baby.  I didn't really get wrecked like that because I was normally content to hold position and not try to tackle the second I got a glimpse of the ball, but I'm pretty sure I was around 10 or so the first time I got pissed at a kid who wanted to dance on the ball when I stood there.  So I wiped him out.  Nobody needed to teach me to start leaving a little on the flair players.  I guess I was just naturally dirty.  Like a pre-pubescent Nigel DeJong.
