This is odd.  I don't think I have seen other indicators that the summer friendly tours are becoming less popular so this bit of news surprised me.

======================

Only 19,000 tickets have been bought so far for United's opening tour match at the StubHub Center in Carson in the early hours of Sunday morning.

seems like a testament to US fans' collective soccer iq rising. shell out massive ducats to see jose's bus?

He didn't want to leave Italy because of his wife & infirm child.  There was a huge spat at HT of the CL Final; him & Alves berating Dybala in the locker room, calling out others too.  Both he & Alves are now gone...forcibly, the perception.
this is really good info.

I was trying to to make sense of an-timer like bonucci jumping horses mid-stream

Atlanta has announced its capacity and ticket sale dates for new stadium, which the team will move into shortly.

Atlanta is averaging a whopping 46,482 at Bobby Dodd but the new stadium is being capped at 42,500.  The cap is being lifted for two games this season, against Orlando and against TFC (last game of regular season).

The capacity cap may prevent Atlanta from breaking the old Cosmos attendance record of 47,856.

Todd Portune, who I think is the County Commissioner who seems to be involved with getting Cincy into MLS, has stated that if MLS wants to come to their city, they have to accept Nippert as the stadium solution.

This statement is not what I expected from a politician.  I expected him to say something like "there will be no public support for building a new stadium" which squarely puts the ball into the perspective owners court and allows them to decide whether they want to fund a stadium.  That is a public stance that no one can argue with.  If the perspective owners want to build great, if not, that is fine too.

But forcing Nippert as the only solution is not going to work IMO.  Nippert seems perfectly suitable for a short term venue while a team builds a new one.  But as a long term solution for an MLS team is seems like a non starter.

It is a 100 year old stadium with field turf, in which the MLS team will neither be the main tenant (scheduling issues) nor control any revenue streams.  One thing MLS teams have learned over the years that if they can not control the stadium revenue streams and scheduling, it is ultimately too much of a financial burden.

I think one of the challenges with Nippert - or more specifically moving from Nippert - is that the stadium is (or did) undergoing certain renovations to increase the size of the field (make it wider (and safer for players).  Given the modifications to the stadium, I think there is an expectation (contractual?) that soccer would be there for a specific amount of time.

This is taking on some steam with multiple reporters stating a similar result.  Ibra's agent said they expect to announce something soon

It's the end of the road for Ibra & Utd. He'll shortly be signing for LA Galaxy
I do not see why he would sign now, for anyone. He wont be healthy until closer to the end of the year and could look to a contender in any league.  Plus if that doesnt work and he does want MLS, their 2018 season starts right after hes healthy and can sign then?

Was to me but $$$!  Although I am shelling out, a buddy didnt want to pay the $150 for tix.  Its also the first game of the tour and its the Galaxy...

Follow-up on Nippert:

For FC Cincinnati, the changes will expand the field size to meet Major League Soccer specifications, making the venue a more attractive component of the soccer club's bid for MLS expansion.

Bohn said the soccer club would be responsible for putting Nippert's lower bowl back to its original configuration should it leave the facility for any reason. FC Cincinnati is still in the initial, three-year term of a deal that could see it play home matches at Nippert for up to 15 years.

FC Cincinnati last week hosted MLS Commissioner Don Garber as part of its effort to secure an MLS expansion spot. Garber, one of American soccer's power brokers, toured Nippert with Bohn.

West Chester-based Sunesis Construction Co. was awarded the stadium construction contract in October and will undertake Nippert's lower-bowl reconfiguration, according to documents obtained by The Enquirer through an Oct. 3 public records request. Bohn confirmed FC Cincinnati will pay for the reconfiguration at an approximate price tag of $2,008,944.

So - it appears that the renovation occurred prior to the start of this season, and that FC Cincinnati paid for the $2M changes, and would be responsible for re-converting the stadium back to its original form if the team moves.

Here is what kicked off a lot of this chatter

======================================

Ibrahimovic and his Italian-born agent, Mino Raiola, met Wednesday for a four-hour dinner at Tattu, a restaurant in Manchester’s city center, after which the player told photographers to expect a “huge announcement soon” regarding his playing future.

I saw that, Would be curious what he and his agent says.  Still makes no sense to me to sign now, unless fit.

also saw reports that Jose expected him fit later this year and that he was staying in Manchester.

he is probably just trying to stay relevant while he is rehabbing by making statements like this.  Keeps his name in the press and multiple teams and leagues interested.

Jose just had his press conference and said he felt Zlatan wanted to be in Manchester but wouldn't be fit until December.  They would be open to his return at that time.

I don't know what I think about Chelsea swapping Costa for Aubameyang.  I really like Auba, and he's certainly faster than Costa....but it doesn't seem like much of an upgrade if you ask me. Plus he's 28...

AC Milan has spent 195m €'s so far this summer, on NINE new starters.  That's insane, yet they're now trying to buy Belotti also!  WTF is FFP for anyways?

*...Besides a blatantly obvious attempt to sabotage Roma & keep her from attaining the glorious destiny that is rightfully hers, that is.  I mean, you guys all see this;  that I was right all along...Right?!

Its all just a fart in the wind, until we see them holding up that shirt.

Chelsea now 1/2 to sign Aubameyang.  :grad:
That means Costa to Atleti very much in play. If that happens, Griezzy will leave next year for 100m€+. Atlético signed Vitolo from Sevilla (such disrespect for them...). If they can nab Costa, I'm really not sure what lineup they'll go with. My man Gabi might be the odd man out, which would be a shame.  I can see a 4-3-3 pretty easily, but I can't see the trendy 3 at the back with wingbacks for this team.

IMO Atlético could have more talent than any team not named Real, Barça, or Bayern. Certainly level with Chelsea and City.

The Bonucci news startled me.

"Free" tv needs more Serie A.

Guys, it's gets crazier as more is revealed.  Alves apparently was blasting Samba music in the locker before the Final; when Bonucci told him to turn it down, a verbal altercation ensued, culminating with Alves stating that if they lose, he'll still have 3 CL titles, while Leo wouldn't have any.  What a self absorbed ########...He says this BEFORE the biggest game in club football!

Bonucci grabbed him by the throat & was going to punch him, when Allegri broke it up; yelling that they both would be gone by next season, regardless of who started it.

Wasn't Alves bickering with one of his teammates on the field after sending a difficult to handle back pass to him? Was it Bonucci? Chiellini?

Not sure, but he did call an already obviously shaken Dybala a ##### at HT.  My favorite bit is when Barzagli (a true gentleman)threatened to take him & Bonucci out.

Serie A is the place to be for all the drama, doubletalk, & debauchery.
:lmao:  Lol, you can't make this stuff up (or can you?)...apparently now Manduzic is saying the second story/account is also fake news... :lmao:

Silly season indeed...

All things considered, European football is better when Milan are relevant. This has been a huge window for them. Don't think they'll get Belotti though...
