@The Z Machine...Roma apparently interested in Gimenez as a failsafe for Manolas...what say you? Adequate? Monchi should know La Liga inside out...so I'm trusting him on this one...

Let's elope.

Seems too hardcore...take it down a notch...

you already got hit by the noreaster? we're heading down to MD shore tomorrow. sounds like we'll be in the thick of it for our commute.... to dynamic Wilmington DE(floppinho keeps calling it Wilson) via train and to the shore from there via car

Everton in a Europa qualifier yesterday?

"Everton, meanwhile, huffed and puffed, but were largely devoid of many attacking ideas in the opening 45 minutes, with Rooney enjoying a low-key return to Goodison barring a few neat touches, some exquisite long-range passes and a couple of scuffed shots."

This will be a reoccurring theme for Everton if they do continue to start Rooney.

But good for them getting the 1-0 win

Staying the week down there, GB?  We were supposed to go for a day trip tomorrow, but bagging it thanks to that storm.  Surf is gonna be rough.

Speaking of which, @The Gator ; a bunch of the guys I now work with in concrete are Brazilians ( ) who only speak the Portugese dialect...awesome guys who don't understand KafkaSpanish# .  I actually learned Spanish through just listening to the Mexican hermanos who worked with me before; learned nada via 2 yrs of high school Spanish.  These guys are ####### phenomenal workers...& god bless their souls...they'll only take direction from me now, because I try to learn their language just as much as they do ours.  It's incumbent on us to embrace their culture ( & GAWD do they love soccer) just as much as it is on them to embrace ours.  Such bull#### some of these family men have to go through just to entertain the same privileges white trash like me take for granted.  This is the first & last political post you'll here from "Flaco", but just wanted to share how unifying soccer can be.  I love these guys, & they'll go through the proverbial brick wall for me.

Everton are screwed.  I mean not really, they'll still finish 7th.  But still...losing Lukaku and replacing him with a bunch of average guys is just not a recipe for success.  I fondly recall my first off-season as a Liverpool fan.  "Ah yeah we don't need Luis Suarez, we're getting Lazar Markovic, Divock Origi, Rickie Lambert (who LOVES the team) and Brendan Rodgers is a tactical genius..I think we'll be all right...WAIT WE GOT MARIO BALOTELLI???  WE'RE GONNNA WIN THE LEAGUE!!!"

My time is more limited lately, but I will do my annual rankings soon enough.  There's just too many "what if's" right now.  What if Liverpool get VVD/Keita, What if Man City get Sanchez from Arsenal, what if ManU finally get a goal-scoring winger, what if Tottenham actually sign a player...

CFC signed David Luiz and Marcos Alonso on August 31 last summer. I've got no problem waiting a week or two for the Shaderrankings© to make sure the dust has cleared and rosters are locked.

oh sweet!   Gives me goosebumps.

Target ends 16 years of NASCAR sponsorship

Target will focus its sports marketing budget on soccer and drop its 16-year NASCAR sponsorship of Chip Ganassi Racing after the 2017 season.

Target, which ended its IndyCar sponsorship of Ganassi after last season, said in a statement that it was shifting its focus to soccer.

"As we looked to evolve our sports marketing program, soccer provided Target with a unique opportunity to reach our guests in new places, and at all levels of the sport," Target said in a statement. "Through partnerships with Major League Soccer, Minnesota United FC, US Youth Soccer and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Target has been able to create meaningful connections with players, fans and families, no matter how they participate in the sport."

I like what they did in the window minus swapping Lukaku for Rooney.  If they can find goals they may just challenge for that 6th spot....

All joking aside I do think there is a top 7 now and they will all be hard to beat.

@Sinn Fein

Any idea where Tottenham is training in Nashville?  I'd imagine you could get the inside scoop?
I went to the open training today - it was at Nissan. They had a weird lottery to get free tickets. Packed two sections though. I suspect Spurs will outnumber city fans by a substantial amount tomorrow

The Toffees spent £83M on Keane, Klaasen and Pickford which is more than they got for Lukaku.  They've bungled the Barkley situation and won't maximize their return for him.  £50M is too much for Sigurdsson IMO but it's not my money.

Last year, they were 8 points behind 6th and 15 points ahead of 8th.  If they do finish 7th again, I think they'll be closer to 8th, mostly because none of the other mid-table clubs performed well last year.

They miss Moyes & Fellaini...what a wild force that was!

True story.  I've still never met a City fan.
