***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (1 Viewer)

I'd love to have roughly 20 seasons of Saul/Kim/Mike dealing with the cartel together, but they took the journey here that will make these next 11 episodes have the maximum impact.
totes agree on watching em forever (plus my beloved Albq), but dont think the team did it to build impact. as ive written about a lot lately, it's that they found an overarching theme - life is a sentence that attempting to lawyer one's way around creates only regret and more prolims and that's ended up colliding nicely with BB's theme of condemning oneself to have more. either way, i both cant wait for and dont want the season finale.

Not to try to sound pessimistic here, and maybe it's a good sign that I can't remember, but does BCS and BB follow what seems to be the current trend where the penultimate episode of the season is the most action-packed and contains the twists and turns?

In general I would say that's true but not to the same degree as other shows. There's been plenty of action/development in the finales.

Added bonus of knowing we're gonna get some Gene.

Not sure about Gene.  The season finale in the previous 4 seasons all start with a flash back, not a Gene scene. Maybe some Chuck tonight.

Re-watching the series (I ain't got #### else to do). The show is so impressive for so many reasons, but their ability to adapt and the risks they've taken in doing so are really amazing.

It seems clear that dawdling on Slipping Jimmy/Chuck/Kim was not the intent. I'd guess a lot of Season 5 was probably originally planned for somewhere around Season 3. But they adjusted,  and didn't give the fans what most would have originally wanted (many seasons full blown Saul), and brought them to an even better place as a result.

Such a huge risk that paid off. It fits in with their tendency delay gratification for a deeper impact. Sort of the like Kim montage to find Mesa Verde to get out of the cornfield. It felt a little long in the moment, but it led to a much deeper impact when Howard crushed her dreams under that HHM flag.

love your take on this.

Wow, my memory is way off then. Either way pretty confident tonight won't just be running out the clock.

I meant to ask this last week and was reminded on the "previously on" last night. What was that crown looking thing that Kim took out of the drawer?

The bottle top for the bottle of high-end tequila from when Viktor and Giselle scammed KEN WINS.

I think this is where we are headed: Kim eventually "breaks bad", helps Saul build his criminal-adjacent enterprise, we find out Saul had to leave behind Kim (and a kid?) when the Walt stuff went down, and Gene/Saul decides to risk his freedom by re-connecting with Kim, she's moved on, and Gene/Jimmy/Saul turns himself in to finally take responsibility for all his misdeeds.
This seems to be shaping up as a solid theory! Kim is Walter White 2.0 (or, 0.0?), with her justification being she wants help the little guy.

It was a good call and I like the premise.

Basically the major takeaway Sepinwall had in his recap of the finale, that we've been looking at Kim through the wrong lens.

meh.  why did nacho's phone work for one call?   i know nacho was supposed to scared, etc, but man was he outshone by eladio and lalo.  and i love me some nacho.  nice assassins

still can't stand kim.  i figured out part of why i don't like her.  it's that nearly every scene. that is just between her and jimmy, is bad.  the chemistry just isn't there.  she's better in scenes without jimmy.

Maybe you don't like Jimmy

The hitmen brought a portable transmitter so they could reach him. He had 4 bars to get the call, then as soon as the message was delivered, they faded out once they turned it off.
no one else had a missed call or a voice mail alert?  and what were the super duper awesome assassins going to do, it lalo didn't bring nacho?  nacho wasn't supposed to even be there.  the writing just seemed sloppy.

Did you miss the chat between Gus and Mike?  Gus said it would help to have a guy on the inside to help the assassins, Mike says no signal. They went over these things.

that was after mike said lalo took nacho.  the assassins were already scheduled before the unforeseen event of nacho being taken all the way to lalo's.  mike wanted to get him out of there.

Right and when Mike told Gus Nacho was with Lalo, he decided it would be helpful to have someone on the inside make things go more smoothly.

not sure where you're going with this.  my question/problem was, 'what were the super duper assassins going to do, before nacho became available'.

Speaking of the Frunk, the BB/BCS world, among other things, really nails their car game on every level. It's full of the most awesome, perfectly cast, ridiculous and memorable cars.
