***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (1 Viewer)

Favorite part of this episode was Howard meticulously creating the latte with a cute peace sign for his wife (ex?) and she just coldly dumped it into the travel mug. Probably his therapist's idea.

Breaking Bad was a slow burn early on, but it eventually picked up and there were numerous times where it felt like the storyline was sprinting in a good way (like the last six episodes of Season 4).  There are now only seven episodes left of Better Call Saul, and it still feels like the storyline is slowly crawling.  The show just isn't terribly exciting.

Seems like the pause in BCS is when it focuses on the legal and Howard centric stuff.  BCS has been just as exciting when the cartel is heavily involved.  Looking forward to the last half of the season.

I felt so bad for him. And then he goes to wipe up the mess.

I think it is clear that Jimmy and Kim are walking into a trap Howard has set.  Kim likely shrugged off being followed by Howard's PI, figuring it was Mike's guys, so she thought she was free to do whatever it is they have planned.  The fact that we didn't see Howard or his PI after early in the episode, to me, is indicative that they are ready for what is being plotted against Howard.  Cliff is likely wise to it as well based on his demeanor in his scene with Kim.  I suspect that Howard and Cliff think Kim is being dragged along in this plan with Jimmy, which is why Cliff offered her the olive branch of that professional opportunity, one Kim is now blowing off to make sure the scam runs well.  She has officially broken bad and has earned whatever bad stuff is coming her way sooner rather than later.

I thought the pics of the fake judge without the cast were taken by the PI was part of their setup.

Yeah, I figured that Jimmy and Kim knew Howard would hire a PI. They wanted Howard to document their activities. Kim found out from her former coworker (the Asian woman she met at the diner) who the judge was on the Sandpiper case, and then they did the lookalike thing. Howard's PI already said it looked like Jimmy withdrew about $20k in cash, and then there were photos of Jimmy giving the cash to the fake judge. The goal has always been to force Sandpiper to settle the case so that Jimmy gets his cut of the settlement now, rather than in a few years. It seems that plan involves making Howard look like a druggie, and making the judge look dirty, in order to force Sandpiper to settle.

I think the plan is for Howard to bring this up somehow in front of the judge while looking coked out. The judge won’t know wtf he’s talking about and that leads to Howard being removed. The title of the episode actually makes me wonder if something more dark won’t actually happen.

I think "kudos" to those of who you quite some time ago, predicted that Kim uses the Vacuum Sales Dude to get a new identity. Now I see as a REAL possibility that Kim is somewhere in Omaha or Nebraska in general. The car license plate from the flashback of Kim and her mother pulling off a theft, was a Nebraska plate. So in my mind....I was tying in the Gene future scenes...with possibly Kim is hiding out there somehow as well.

this doesn't jive with my, kim dies a fiery death, and it's saul's fault, theory.  or at least he blames himself.

THAT STILL...may be the outcome. At least that's what I was expecting. But a couple of little Easter Eggs last night just had me thinking differently. Maybe the Kim character is too popular and they are leaving the opened door for a BB / BCS sequel later in Kim's life.

yea, i connected the NE plates right away.  but maybe saul asked to go there out of remembrance.  i just can't see saul every truly getting what he wants.  his misery is crucial to his character.

Yea, that is my thinking too and why Jimmy/Saul said he wanted to go to Omaha, NE back in BB.  Dare I say we may end up with a happy ending for Jimmy in present day???

I don’t think he goes there by choice. He asked Robert Forster what’s in Nebraska and he said “you are”

I dunno, if Kim was in the Vacuum Cleaner Relocation Service, I'd think Saul would have at least asked if he could be placed with her or otherwise made some mention of finding her again.

Nobody going to mention the Albuquerque Isotopes air freshener reference? Gene got spooked last season when the cabby had that hanging in his cab.

Agree with posts upthread, there is no doubt Jimmy was testing the redbull drug out for Howard.  And they wanted Howard to catch them with photos of the dummy sandpiper judge.

I was worried that Cliff's offer to Kim was a set-up the other way round, but, it seems that won't matter anymore.  And presumably they are the only ones that know the judge has a broken arm so currently they hold all the cards.  Too bad the episode was all about Kim and the choices she made, including the u-turn despite Jimmy being a pretty good judge of when a con might go bad.

Casper retreating to the shack reminded me of the Geico Freddy Krueger commercial where the kids take shelter in the garage full of chainsaws. "NOOOOOO"

We made the exact same reference watching that scene!

You guys are way off.  It wasn't like there was a running car in the drive way that he could have gotten in to get away.  There really was no other place for him to go.  He just screwed up his sneak attack an Lalo.

I wouldn't say he screwed it up. Tough to predict the guy having a loose razor blade at the ready in his pocket taped to the back of a piece of paper.

Sure but I would never have given him the chance.  He came after me and pulled a gun on me.  I wasn't going to give him a chance to use the gun or come after me with something else.  I would have been hiding in a way (I know the place he doesn't) that I could have jumped him and used the axe to incapacitate him.  Obviously this is real life vs movie life so I understand the reason this didn't happen.

I get that and I agree. But do these writers have to make everything so ******* stupid?????
